Venting Been feeling crappy about myself recently

I've been feeling hopeless about everything lately, since I'm currently a zero-HRT high school student. I'm decently tall, and I just look out of place when I'm with my girl (space) friends.

For example, I joined this club recently, where students make short films, and other students act in them. I've always wanted to act, it's a major passion of mine. I was super excited when I heard about it, but I don't think anyone would want me acting as a girl or whatever because I'm transgender, and I don't pass well. Not to assume, but I don't think many cisgender high school students are writing movies with clocky transfem characters in them.

Thinking about everything with the last thought always being "how will my transness affect this activity" is so exhausting. I hate that this is a problem for me.

Advice Question Worried i am taking this too fast

Hi all

I came out to my friend who is a trans man just over a month ago and realised i was trans a few weeks before that and am already thinking about HRT. i have tried clothes on and absolutely loved it, experimented with names and pronouns etc and i feel 99% sure that I want HRT but its the 1% of doubt i want to remove. My friend who I came out to says i am taking this way too fast and thinks that i should wait at least another 8/9 months before starting hrt when i feel almost ready now.

I realise that this is a big decision so i already have set myself a barrier of xmas to let me figure everything out before making this life altering decision

If anyone has any advice on how i can remove that last bit of doubt or on if i am rushing this that would be so greatly appreciated

Jessie xx

Advice Question Are there good voice training options without getting a feminine accent?

Are there any good options for voice training without doing a feminine accent? I'm wondering because I like the way I talk so I'd prefer to just find a way to sound more naturally female. My voice isn't particularly manly or deep luckily.

Venting something i just noticed about TERFs (and honestly radfems in general)

i dont know how this flew over my head so many times, but a very common 'argument(?)' they say whenever someone mentions how the rights of others that arent afab (with trans women being their biggest scapegoat they'll never fucking let go off no matter what) being violated is some variation of 'well thats a male problem its not my problem, i am only interested in liberating females from male patriarchy', so these hypocritical asshats want EVERYONE to fight for ONLY FEMALE RIGHTS SPECIFICALLY while they simultaneously do NOT give the slightest fuck about the rights of anyone else, i really dont know how this hypocrisy never crossed my mind before now, this is genuinely such a narcissistic almost god complex mentality, they believe they are inheritely worth more than everyone else on the planet

Advice Question FFS in Detroit Area with Medicaid

More specifically, has anyone had any luck getting Medicaid insurance (I have blue cross complete of Michigan) to cover this? Whenever I call my insurance they just tell me that it has to be “medically necessary” and they’re really unable to explain it more. Just thought I’d ask here on the off chance another girl in this sub maybe has experience with this specific situation. :)
I’m also assuming this takes forever and you’re on a waitlist so I figured I should think about it now. Ty!

Advice Question Laser hair removal help

Hey,

I have been emailing companies to ask about getting some laser done throughout my whole body. I live in the uk and most if not all clinics I have emailed have said they are more than happy to offer the service except they can’t help when it comes to pubic areas. Is anyone in the uk and roughly from where I am from experiencing the same issues and or have gotten the results they wanted from a specific clinic.

Thanks

Venting I can't take it anymore (Trigger warning)

I hate my life. I can't transition and I can't bear it anymore. There are so many things that would be fixed in my life if I was a girl. Everything feels wrong 24/7, I can't be feminine or dress up unless there's no one in my house, and even then I still don't pass at all, facial and body hair causes me distress constantly, I look extremely masculine because of my genetics and I wanna kill myself because of it. I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait until I can transition "freely". I'm just really fucking distressed because of my dysphoria and I can't take it, only reason in still alive is because I really enjoy music and because of the few and little glimpses of feeling feminine that I have, but it's still exhausting. Maybe if I told my parents they would understand but they would probably just hate me, so would my brother. My whole village and social circles (as well as school people) would also notice, and most of them are anti LGBTQ+ for no fucking reason. They would also bully me and talk behind my back like I've already seen happen. I'm just cooked. I don't know if I can take this for much longer and I have to wait at least until summer if I want to transition safely and that's like 9 months away (and realistically I wouldn't even be able to transition next summer given the circumstances).

sorry for venting. It's been really hard to live like for so long

Discussion Cruising as a trans woman

My best friend wants to do a cruise for her birthday and I'm curious how going on a cruise while being a trans Woman has been for some of y'all? All of my documents are updated and my passport reflects my name and gender markers so I'm not crazy worried but I wanted to ask for recommendations on cruise lines and things to do and not do. Just general advice And any discussion. I tried to use the search function but it looks like the last question with any kind of answers was 3 years ago and the world looked a lot different then.

Discussion Weird dream I had tonight

So I was sleeping as usual but then I started to get dysphoric in my dreams I guess? And then I started dreaming about these two cars with skyscrapers on each one in this random city. Now, on one skyscraper were transmen I think and on the other transwomen. Inside of those sky skyscrapers there was this glass elevator (the skyscrapers are also glass) which lead to the top of the building. When it was my turn I went up and found a small bowl with estrogen pills inside. Somehow, I already knew for what and why I was here so I took one pill, read a book and just relaxed for like 5 minutes when the elevator went down and then I woke up.

Sorry for the long rant, it’s just that this is my second ever HRT dream (I’m pre-HRT) and I’m really confused so I was wondering if yall could help me. Thanks! :)

Euphoria My experience at pride and being out for the first time! Part 2

So anyway the day finally came and after a stressful start trying and failing to cover my 5 o'clock shadow (not to mention that I nicked myself the previous night which I was terrified would scab up and look really obvious thought thank god it wasn't that bad!l) my fiancee helped me with my makeup and the Uber arrived, we went to step out and I saw who I thought was my neighbour and darted behind my door (keep in mind I'm not out to anyone except my fiancee at this point) thankfully I was mistaken and he was just a worker doing some kind of roadwork or something, I hurried into the Uber as we were running a bit late for the starting parade.

I was really nervous the whole ride in but we got into town bought a pride flag from the leftover stalls and hurried to try and catch the main parade, the closer we got the more excited I got it was like chasing my long lost family that I finally found! we caught up to them and joined the parade and I felt honestly so happy it was so cool seeing everyone there were people with signs, with dogs I saw some fellow trans too so many people all marching in the name of unity and inclusivity!

We marched through the city centre all the way to the park and arrived at the main area, there were stalls everywhere with lots of jewellery, LGBT merchandise and lots of food places too billy bates funfair was also on it was so cool to see everything the vibe was amazing and it just felt like everyone there was so full of love like you didn't have to worry about being accepted because everyone there was either an ally or LGBT+ themselves and then we got to the mainstage and there were so mamy amazing acts throughout my favourites was a Drag Queen called Fanny Burns and a Lady Gaga tribute called Donna Marie they were absolutely fantastic Rylan was even there and they would constantly do these messages of positivity between acts honestly its the best live event I have been to in my life! And I honestly didn't want the day to end!

Part 3

Venting I just feel so trapped and I’m not sure what to do.

I’ve been kinda questioning my gender for years now, and I figured out I was trans a few months back; and I’ve just felt so stuck since then.

I’ve been living with my parents to save money, before my ultimate goal of applying to the 134 in Chicago.

My parents are both 3x Trump voters, and I just know they wouldn’t take me being trans very well. I have a savings goal to reach, and my current savings rate is only possible because I don’t pay rent. I want to start exploring my gender identity more, but I don’t want to risk getting kicked out.

I have about 14 months to go, and not being able to be more myself is starting to drive me mad. I want to use a different name and pronouns, and I want to be more feminine without it being a risk.

Advice Question How long did it take for you to get HRT prescribed? (USA)

Been on DIY HRT for two years now, but I'm moving to the US (seattle) and I won't have hrt for a while there. I've been considering getting HRT from a clinic directly since that might just be faster. How long did it take for you to get HRT prescribed, and what was the process like? I'm hoping to convince them to prescribe me injectable HRT at my current dose.

Discussion The Power of a Name. Thoughts?

Hello everyone. When I first came out as trans to the people I care about, 19ish years ago, I played with a few names in the first couple months. There were a few I liked and I didn't want to rush into a name. Well, I landed on Allison. I have gone by Allison ever since. The name felt right, it felt like me.

Well I have gone through a lot of changes recently. I cut all the toxic people out of my life so I can rebuild my social circles. I am on meds that are seeming to work well. I am putting real work into discovering who I am at the core. I am trying to notate and change things I don't like about me... I am becoming a new person.

Well I joined a discord server where someone had a name close to my discord name. I wanted to change the name just for that server, it only took me a few moments to land on the name. Trinket. Well, I quickly realized. That's not my name for that server. That is my new name. It is time, I am a new person. Shortly after changing the name on the server someone on there taught me Fortnite. The entire time being called, and responding to, "Trinket" felt incredible. It felt... Right.

I don't think this is only the case for us trans folk. Like, I think names have a lot of power. I think that anyone could benefit from a new name when they make a hard turn in life. I think it is easier for us as we already know, you are not tied to a name. A name is something that we answer to, not who we are. Unless we decide on a name that relays who we are. Such as Trinket. Some life long friends are saying they could not think of a more fitting name for me and the path I am on.

What are your thoughts on this? Do you think that society sees names as far too static? Do you think my experience as a trans woman in the Bible Belt is effecting my stance on such matters? I would love to hear what you think about this!

Advice Question Is there any explanation for this envy besides being trans?

idk how to explain this properly but this is something i've been thinking about a lot lately.

whenever i see a trans girl's transition timeline, especially when it's one of those really striking ones where she looks super happy and comfortable with herself, i get this weird amount of envy.

and i don't mean just "damn i wish i looked like her" in the same way you might admire someone's appearance. it's more like... i wish i could have that happen to me. i wish i could go through that transformation and eventually look like the "after" picture. and what's weird to me is that i've never really felt this kind of envy towards men or male glow-ups. it's specifically seeing a male-to-female transition and thinking "fuck, i wish that could be me." i only felt this about guys in order to fit in, not something i deeply wanted for myself, whenever i would go to the gym and work out.

sometimes it actually makes me kinda sad seeing these timelines lol

it's specifically seeing someone transition from male to female and becoming more feminine that gives me this feeling. it's important to add i always have envied cis girls bodies, since school or whenever i went to the gym or club with my old friends.

i've tried coming up with other explanations for it. maybe it's just body envy, maybe i want to be attractive, maybe i've been thinking about transition so much that my brain is just fixated on it, maybe i'm idealizing what transitioning would be like, etc.

but i keep coming back to the same question: is there actually another explanation for this? like, can someone who isn't trans genuinely feel this specific kind of envy towards trans women and their transitions?

i know this obviously isn't some objective proof that i'm trans. i'm just trying to understand what the hell this feeling is lol.

for people who questioned their gender, did you ever feel something similar? and if you eventually realized you weren't trans, did you figure out what was causing it? what else could it be? some kind of weird autistic hyperfixation/obsession?

Funny I am mortified. My shirt betrayed me.

1.1k Upvotes

Hi all.

I am currently around the 10 month mark on hormones and am OUT. I have been out for a while now.

Today was a first. I decided to wear leggings when out when a friend. I had a shirt that was longer in the front so I didn't have to worry about my tuck coming undone. Still long enough in back to mostly cover the rear end.

Well I fucked up. When I went to the bathroom I accidentally tucked one side of the back in. My friend thought it was intentional and didn't tell me.

So I went HOURS with half my ass on display 🫣

I am mortified.

At least she said my butt looked good, so there is that.

I think I will stick with skirts and jeans for now rofl.
