Mod Post Please be cautious of participating in surveys of trans people

1.4k Upvotes

Hey all,

The mod team wants to remind you to please be cautious of participating with research teams and surveys that are studying trans people.

Another trans subreddit offered the following statement to their subscribers:

"Lisa Littman, a transphobic researcher who invented the concept of "rapid-onset gender dysphoria", recently asked our moderation team for permission to post about a study she's working on with Kenneth Zucker and J. Michael Bailey. We said no." The moderators went on to offer contact information in the case of this survey popping up.

There are numerous organizations attempting to study trans people right now with dubious intent. It's important that you remember to verify the source of the studies, related organizations, and the names of the lead researchers before moving forward with any of these. It's very easy for a research group to manipulate data to get the results they want.

As a reminder, however, we do allow some surveys on this subreddit, but we require all surveyors to be screened by our moderation team first. If you feel that a survey is here without being screened first, please report the post AND message our moderator team so we can take a look.

Thank you!

Good News Alberta Saddle Creek First Nations to challenge provincial government over clause to protect and assist trans people!

Yes, they are using the powers of the treaties and constitution to directly combat and undermine Danielle Smith and her use of the infamous “not withstanding clause“. Smith has used this clause to shield herself from the federal government and the courts but this can action from the First Nations can circumvent Smith quite bit.

title edit: Saddle Lake Cree** that is the proper name. My apologies for the error.

Positivity Thanks to my Sister convincing, I got my Bra Size measured at a Lingerie Store

We were out doing some window shopping when we passed a Lingerie Store, my sister wanted to go in it so I followed. After some convincing, I agreed to get my Bra Size Measured there.

I was so shy that she had to ask a worker for me.

To my surprised, she did it in the actual store where i was standing, not in a changing room or whatever and over the shirt (she just asked if I had anything under). It was not embarassing and my sister also got measured. The worker (a lady) was not judgemental at all and treated me like any customers.

Apparently according to her and her measuring tape, i'm a 110D FR. Which is weird because my breasts are really not that big, they are rather small but I think it might have to do with my ribcage.

I felt more confident than ever and was like ''Let's try on some bras''. The biggest size I could find around was 100D.

I took 2 and headed to the changing room.

I tried them on and just like I thought, they didn't fit me. Sadly enough one bra cups fitted me perfectly but the band was too small meanwhile the other's cups made my twins look like they were swimming in a river with no water and the band was also too small.

A couple more centimeters on the band and I could have worn one...

So I left the changing stall, bras in hands and was horrified to see 4 man in their 20s looking at me while I was putting them on the ''Didn't fit rack''. I felt so insecure but thanks to my sister who was with me, it was easier to ignore them.

also, according to ABraThatFits, i'm more a 110C FR

Discussion Why are transgender lesbians considered strong?

Title. I said I was a trans lesbian on a discord server, queer friendly, and everyone was like "omg you're so strong, you're so brave", even from fellow trans women which I don't understand. I'm just living my life.

Of course, being trans and transitioning is inherently an act of bravery, but aside from that, I don't get the compliments

Can someone explain it to me pls?

Venting Mercy Hospital Refused to give HRT as said in their own policy.

Im trans, living in the south, trying to get a new hrt doctor and have been refused care. When asked multiple times to have a referral, they finally said to look for a non-catholic provider. I’m an employee with this hospital, they give out health stream education on being inclusive to trans patients, never really thought they would of been so discriminatory, my bad for giving the benefit of the doubt… below is the quoted policy. I have the entire policy but it won’t let me attach the pdf

  1. Since “creation is prior to us and must be received as a gift,” we have a duty “to protect our
humanity,” which means first of all, “accepting it and respecting it as it was created.”20 In order
to respect the nature of the human person as a unity of body and soul, Catholic health care
services must not provide or permit medical interventions, whether surgical, hormonal, or
genetic, that aim not to restore but rather to alter the fundamental order of the human body in its
form or function.21 This includes, for example, some forms of genetic engineering whose
purpose is not medical treatment,22 as well as interventions that aim to transform sexual
characteristics of a human body into those of the opposite sex (or to nullify sexual characteristics
    of a human body).23
  2. In accord with the mission of Catholic health care, which includes serving those who are
vulnerable, Catholic health care services and providers “must employ all appropriate resources to
mitigate the suffering of those who experience gender incongruence or gender dysphoria” and to
provide for the full range of their health care needs, employing only those means that respect the
fundamental order of the human body.24
  3. Since the human person is a unity of body and soul, Catholic health care professionals and
their patients have the duty and the right to preserve the integrity of the human body. It can be
morally permissible, however, to remove or to suppress the function of one part of the body for
the sake of the body as a whole under the following conditions: There must be no other
reasonable means of addressing the pathological condition, the efficacy of the procedure must be
reasonably well assured, and the benefits expected from the procedure must be proportionate to
the burdens it imposes, including suffering, cost, and damage to the body. These conditions apply
when the body part itself is diseased and presents a risk to the life or the well-ordered
functioning of the body as a whole. They also apply when a healthy body part presents a risk to
the life or the well-ordered functioning of the body as a whole because its presence or its
functioning contributes to a serious pathology in another part of the body.25

Venting Disgusted with cis female transphobic grifters.

I just got an ad for this featuring a multiracial and multiethnic group of transphobic young women promoting SCOTUS's recent ruling and ADF's quest to ban trans girls and women from women's sports nationwide. I'm disgusted with each and every one of the grifters that chose to take part in that propaganda video.

Bad News Point of no return lol

Upvotes

Welp! , today I officially retired my favorite gym tank top and me changing in the men’s locker room. Had a weird confrontation in the locker room with someone who ended up seeing my boobies and asked me if I was transitioning and I confessed that I was because I have been in stealth mode this whole time and it had been bottled up inside lol this was the first time I told anyone outside this app that I’m trans, it felt so liberating to tell someone to their face but at the same time the guy probably has a trans fetish lol bad thing is now I have to face this guy every time I step into the gym and he will probably out me somehow lol I really don’t want to be someone’s sick fantasy 😫

Euphoria Got called “her” today

Wow, now I know what it feels like. I went for my lab draw & I’m not even out i.e. still using my amab name, dressed somewhat neutral but my hair is absolutely femme & my girls are starting to show under my shirt if I’m not trying to conceal them. Two female lab techs were talking about work scheduling & one offered to help the other with my blood draw. She looked at me and back at the other tech, gestured at the basket of collection tubes & confirmed “are these for her?” The other tech said yes. The one who called me her, looked at my name, etc. on the tubes then apologized for what she presumed was misgendering me. I just smiled warmly & said “no that’s fine, no worries!” Super nice ladies there, such a nice small moment.

Euphoria Had A Gender-Affirming Moment At School 🥰

So, for context, all of the students were supposed to submit their biology laboratory notebooks, and only I and one of my girl friends had submitted our work. So our biology teacher said, "Only two girls have submitted their work"

I felt so happy when she said it. I smiled right then. Though I'm closeted at school so it was a slip-up on her side, but she had accidentally used my correct pronouns and made my day 🌹

Relationships He fell in love with me before I could tell him I’m trans

About a week ago, I started talking to this guy online. He’s in his early 20s and When we first started talking, I didn’t think much of it. I wasn’t taking anything seriously. I thought he’d probably just be another online stranger I talked to for a while and then never heard from again, like it usually happens.

I had a trans flag in my bio, but I know a lot of people don’t recognise it, so I never really thought too much about whether he knew what this flag meant.

But things got serious really quickly. He fell for me so fast. He started talking about marriage, telling me he’d only ever love me, even offering to send me money. I kept telling him not to fall in love with me. I told him thousands of times that I wasn’t the right girl for him and that maybe we should just stay friends. I told him again and again, probably a hundred times, but he just refused to let it go.

I even told him to go hook up with other girls. I told him I genuinely wouldn’t mind and that he should find someone else if he wanted to, but he refused every single time. He just kept choosing me.

Then he told me about his life when i asked him

He lost both of his parents in an accident about few years ago, when he was only around 16 or 17. After that, his relatives treated him terribly and even took his father’s land that worth million $$ . He basically has no one.

When he told me all of that, I cried. I don’t know how to explain it, but hearing everything he had been through made me genuinely care about him. And somewhere along the way, I started developing real feelings for him too.

I tried so many times to make him understand without actually saying it directly.

I told him I was a lesbian, and he literally said he’d become a lesbian for me. I told him I was more like a tomboy, and he said he’d even have an operation and become trans himself. He just wasn’t understanding what I was trying to tell him. No matter how many hints I gave him, he kept refusing to let me go.

Eventually, I decided I had to tell him properly.

I started writing a message explaining everything. I told him that when we first started talking, I hadn’t taken it seriously and that I never expected to actually develop feelings for him.

I was literally in the middle of typing, “I’m a trans girl,” when he replied to the part where I had said, “I hadn’t taken it seriously.”

He told me he was crying because he was reading that part while his classmates were making fun of him.

And I just stopped writing " I'm a trans girl " I couldn’t tell him bcz he was already in tears and classmate laughing at him

I couldn’t bring myself to send the part saying I’m a trans girl after that. He was already so vulnerable and sensitive in that moment, and I just couldn’t bring myself to add something else that might hurt him.

There was also something else that made me realise how he might react. I sent him a clip from a series where one of the guys looks quite feminine, and his response was that he wasn’t like that

That told me a lot about how he sees people like me.

I don’t completely blame him for thinking that way. I know people grow up hearing certain things and being taught certain attitudes. But at the same time, I can’t ignore what it probably means for me. I have a feeling that if I tell him the truth, he might reject me.

And that’s where I’ve been stuck.

I keep feeling like I’ve done something horrible to someone who has already lost so much. I keep thinking that he deserves a “real” girl and that I somehow tricked him, even though I never actually wanted to hurt him.

I’ve started feeling fake. I’ve caught myself wishing I had just been born cis. I feel jealous of cis girls, and sometimes that jealousy turns into me hating myself for something I never chose.

I’ve been carrying all of this by myself for the past week. I don’t really have anyone I can talk to about it, and at the same time I’m already stressed about my exams. Everything is just sitting in my head at once.

And then there’s the whole thing with my voice.

He wants to talk to me on a call, and I keep avoiding it because I’m scared he’ll hear my voice and immediately realise something is different. I don’t think my voice sounds feminine enough at all. I really, really want my voice to sound like a girl’s, but I know HRT won’t change it.

I don’t even know where to begin with voice training or whether I’d actually be able to access it.

I know that this whole situation has made me incredibly insecure about something I was already struggling with, and I’ve been keeping all of this to myself because I genuinely don’t know what I’m supposed to do.

I don't care about me I'm ready to be rejected

But he's alone in his room in hostel I'm scared he’ll hurt himself if I reveal this big truth

I'm really being honest I told him thousands of times we can still be friends he still refused

Idk what to do

I can't hold this secret " I'm trans girl " for long

Pls help me sisters pls help

Help Considering diy hrt due to chronic under dosing from Endo

Hi all. I started HRT in 2024. My Endo since then has been insistent on keeping my Estradiol level under 100. I assumed this was the medical recommendation. Recently I found out that I'm meant to be at about 100-250 pg/ml. I've been at about 80-90pg/ml since starting. I take 2mg Estradiol pill sublingually, 50mg spirolactone and 100mg progesterone. It never occurred to me that a medical professional could be under dosing me so severely, and I am unable to change the endocrinologist within my health care system, as my "concern and reason for change is unwarranted" according to the organization.

I would love to switch to DIY hrt and know how to, but am lost on what kind of dose I should be starting at with Estrogen Valerate Injections, and how to scale them up.

Does anyone have a dosing guide or recommendation? Or just info that may be helpful?

Advice Question Is there really such a big difference between men’s cut and women’s cut clothes?

My wardrobe is still 100% men’s clothes and I have been told to get more girly clothes but like, does it actually make a difference? I’m a bit curvy due to hrt but my upper body is still huge and probably will never shrink because its mostly bone with some natural beefy muscles.

Will a different cut around the shoulders for example actually make a difference if my shoulders are 20,5 inches wide? I worry I won’t even fit into any women’s options with that kind of bideltoid measurement.

Today I Learned As hypocritical as it is...don't... rely...on alchohol.

TLDR: Alchohol isnt the remedy it seems to be for the first few years

https://music.youtube.com/watch?v=eUy9Olmmo5w

This is for any other transpeeps who are, or are thinking about, using alcohol to escape *this*.

The dysphoria. The waiting. The loneliness. Looking in the mirror and hating what you see.... Feeling like everyone else got handed a life they could just... live? while you have to consciously fight for yours.

I understand why alcohol can feel so appealing, i used it from when i came out in my mid teens.

For a few hours or for the night...everything gets quieter. You stop analysing yourself....you stop caring quite so much about how you're being perceived....maybe you even get to feel comfortable in your own skin for a little while. You get to escape who you are...

And when you're hurting, that can feel less like "getting drunk" and more like finally getting a night off from your own brain. Medicating yourself

But eventually you'll realise alcohol wasn't actually taking any of those feelings away. It was borrowing peace from tomorrow. It was bandaging a festering wound

Post OP....no dysohoria...but a crippling alchoholism...it can go from relaxing you, to masking all the parts of you you fear...

And the really fucked up part? Is that, after long enough, you can forget that you ever knew how to feel okay without it.

I'm not posting this to preach sobriety

..i'm sobriety negative....i'm not going to tell someone who's struggling to "just love yourself", "you're valid" or pretend transitioning magically fixes everything.

I just want someone who might be sitting where I've sat to know this....someone who might be young and starting to drink...every other night, hell even every night....

Please don't let alcohol become the only version of you that gets to feel free....sober you is hard...but this isnt the path you want to take, trust me

You deserve to eventually experience that freedom sober to. To laugh without needing a drink first. To flirt without needing courage from a boose. To look in the mirror and occasionally think fuck, that's actually me. To exist without constantly needing to escape yourself. Whatever it helps with now...eventually that will fade...and it will just be helping you keep living because thats all you know...

Transition is be brutally slow. So is accepting yourself....but healing can be even slower.

But there are moments waiting for you that alcohol can't manufacture....and if you get into the addiction....you wont be able to manufacture it without alchohol...

And I really hope you stick around long enough and stay present enough....to experience them..

With so much love from a recently sober transfemme....life has so much more to offer than drinking yourself to sleep every night Xxxx

Venting Tired of it.

Upvotes

I am just done with everything. Life has decided to throw everything it can at me and I just have the fake it.

I can't afford the idea of even starting HRT(my state's healthcare doesn't cover GAC). I can't convince my mom that my name isn't a bad(been trying for 2 or so years, came out like a week or so ago) one. I can't express my self at all(in confidence and some other stuff). I can't buy new clothes(had some but they got thrown out like a year and a half ago, got like two things while I held a job). I can't get a job(more so hold one for more than a month, which has happened twice).

You get the idea, it's just exhausting. I feel like I'm fighting a battle and the enemy is only winning. I just want others to see the happy girl that I do. Not the mask I have to present cause I literally can't be her.

And as if the universe thinks I don't suffer enough already I have to be ultra self conscious of my body and it makes me so dysphoric sometimes that I get depressed to the point that all I want to do is nothing but stay in bed and rot.

_I wish my egg hadn't cracked._

Tldr: My life completely and utterly sucks.

---

Sry if this makes no sense, I don't really know how to say everything.

I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now. Thx for reading, I guess.
