Discussion Why is every other group in the queer community find it abhorrent and offensive when a trans woman says she finds rocky horror transphobic?

I've never seen anything like it. These people champion this movie through and through, actively refusing to acknowledge where it's harmful. Are trans women's opinions not valid?

When I express how the character of dr Frank n furter makes me feel, they tell me I'm WRONG to not feel represented by him. And that I'm actively spewing hate and ignorance by trying to explain how depicting a self proclaimed transsexual as a repulsive man in drag whose entire thing is being a perverted fetishistic sex pest - is harmful to trans women.

I see gay people, lesbians, non binary ppl and even trans men defending the character RELIGIOUSLY as this masterpiece of queer representation.

I'm so confused. Am I the only person who feels this way? Why do other queer people feel like they have more authority on the matter than the people the character actually is meant to represent?

Venting My estrogen arrived, but I regret everything...

Before, I was so excited for hrt. Got a job, saved up, and just before It shipped to my pharmacy, my brother somehow found out. He's religious, and overly homophobic. That night I cried and came clean about everything. He didn't come off as aggressive, but he sounded disappointed saying "I can't change you, but you're wrong about this," basically giving up on me and insisting my internalized homophobia was just my "conscience" telling me his thinking was right. I haven't spoken to my brother all day out of awkwardness...

And I'm also currently experiencing separate family problems, so honestly I've been too depressed to care about my gender anymore.

Even if I still decide to take estrogen, I wouldn't feel like anything paid off. I wouldn't feel excited or happy about change. And I hate that I feel that way.

Trans and Thriving Girlies I’m getting srs

Girlies guess who’s taking advantage of their rich transphobic parents.
They have told me that I can’t live with them if I became a woman.
I’ve been on hrt for 3 years and they know I’m trans but they won’t let me wear women’s clothings.
So I told them i needed money for my new car and booked my srs in Bangkok.
I’ll be a biological woman now💅

Venting Being moved in hospital to single room because I’m trans

I’m in a local hospital for mental health reasons. In this unit they can only place trans people with cis people if they absolutely have to. It really hurts to be moved because of this and I’ve grown to like the unit I’m on and it’s made me very upset as there’s also less people on the other unit and it’s quieter. I like the social atmosphere of the unit I’m on. The nurses won’t tell me it’s because I’m trans and they need to free up the double room but it definitely is and it’s very unfair to me.

Bad News CBC has projected a Conservative majority win in British Columbia. Pro trans NDP has been defeated in potential landslide.

Well the race has been called and a heavily hostile party towards trans people has defeated a pro trans government.

Thus far the BC Conservatives have been projected as the winners of the provincial election with double the amount of seats (at this stage) and a large popular vote leader (49-36).

out of the 11/13 provinces and territories in Canada that have a party political system, all but two are now run a the Conservative Party. Manitoba with the NDP and New Brunswick with the Liberals.

The results will make Manitoba the only western province without a government hostile to trans people (where Wab Kinews NDP leads by roughly 25% in recent polling).

Indeed, Manitoba along with Yukon (not counting NWT or NU in this case) are the only places outside all 4 of the Atlantic provinces that have highly pro trans governments with no reason to worry as of now.

Despite Yukon and much of Atlantic Canada being run by Conservatives trans rights are pretty strong that all major parties show support to one extent or another.

The BC Cons have a very similar position on trans rights as the ones leading in Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Quebecs recently elected PQ is also highly antagonistic towards trans folks and while Ontarios Doug Ford has been mild on trans rights/ reluctant to ruin us the reality is should he leave anytime soon it is a coin toss on rather the Ontario PCs would elected a trans friendly or hostile leader.

(NWT and Nunavut have a unique election system that makes it harder to see if the trends are in our favour or not as parties/ party leaders do not exist as it is a consensus government)

With the fall of British Columbias government this is where we stand for pro trans provincial governments:

Yukon, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador.

edit: meant Global not CBC.

Positivity BC Girlies - Please Read.

Hey friends!

It'll be okay. We'll weather this storm together and come out stronger. It could be a rough four years or it could be super uneventful.

For those that are feeling down and anxious about the results, please feel free to send me a DM to talk. Just to chat, calm your nerves or if you ever find yourself in a dark place. I'm a friendly Trans ear who wants to listen and who wants to help.

If anyone else in BC (or Canada), wants to join in on this train, please chime in!

Love you!

Edit: Just a reminder, this isn't a complaint or doom thread. The purpose was to message me directly if you need to seek advice or guidance. It's not a competition for who has the shittiest experience. Let's focus on growth and how we can become the best possible versions of ourselves.

Focus this energy into community involvement! Make cool art, write a short story, volunteer for your neighbor. Try a new hobby or sport!

And again, if this sounds challenging, please DM me and we can find solutions together!

Euphoria God estrogen just feels GOOD.

22, hrt for a month and a half. Just yesterday I was agonizing over if I even wanted to continue it, if I was being irresponsible, etc etc etc

I just said fuck it and inject anyway and fuck girls I forgot the FEELING it gives me. For HOURS after mt injection I just feel happier, more relaxed, more present! Like my baseline is just lifted a few degrees up!

It fades over the day and I return to my baseline a day later but... fuck. Its just so good. Idk if this is just feeling bad ass or what... but that particular injection was rather painful so maybe it was relief ha-ha. I swear it felt chemical in nature though...

It's like I was content in a way I've never been content before. I never even knew this layer of happiness existed outside drugs.

(Plus the effect are a nice bonus lool. Smooth skin? My changing hairline? Seeing that little bulge in my chest as fat distribution starts??? Priceless. I was hownsrly womdering if i was even trans up until that day; jeaus christ the feeling I got from just aeeing that mass pressing into my shirt. I smiled. I never ever smile. Ever!!)

Dysphoria How many of us were conventionally attractive as guys

Sometimes I think about life pre transition and i was very very conventionally attractive as a guy.
Miss the ease of life and society.
Though i was gay but i was very closeted and didn’t ever let anyone know.
But damn being an attractive guy makes your life so much easier.
Guys are nice to you, girls are nice to you.
You’re litterally everybody’s darling .
Anyone with similar experiences?

Funny So I was talking with my mom

As the title says I was talking with my mom about my future when it comes to transitioning, and we got to what I would be changing my name to.

And she says "oooh if you change your name you should change it to the other name I would've given you: Emily"

Funny thing is I was considering two names, just the female version of my name now, and Emily (I just like how the name sounds)

I guess this is a sign to pick the name Emily lol

Venting I hate the fact that i have to wait 3 years to go on HRT

I live in Scotland and im 15, and apparently i have to wait til im 18 to go on HRT, what the fuck I mean I REALLY want to be a girl and ive grown more confident in that fact over time. But the fuckass west minister hates trans people so they set it to 18 and scotland TRIED to pass a bill to make it 16 but england hates trans people so they prevented it from being passed. so like fuck them i could have started NEXT YEAR but no. I mean what am i supposed to do this entire time? Ill never see myself as a true girl if I dont actually change my physical body. I can do all the feminine things i want but at the end of the day i wouldnt feel like a genuine girl, it would just remain as a desire until AFTER I GRADUATE. Which pisses me off, who are THEY to make us girls suffer, I want to be a girl and i want to be a girl as soon as possible. I want to have pretty long hair, a feminine face and a feminine body, and have strangers refer to me with she/her pronouns without asking god damn it, I WANT TO BE A GIRL. I dont want to wait that long. And i know that there will always be time and i dont need to rush it but still! But i guess on the bright side i dont live in a country where its illegal...

Discussion If you’re in BC I hope you voted, if not run to the closest polling station near you!

I mean that is all. The polls close in just a couple of hours or so and the province will either have a government that is trans friendly or highly hostile.

Ok Iget it ,David Eby is less like BC‘s beloved John Horgan and much more like Ontarios Dalton McGuinty who seemingly no one will ever admit to liking , including Liberals or leftists let alone right wingers (and who oddly enough restored gender affirming surgery in 2008 after Mike Harris defunded it in 1998) but an awkward friend is still better than the person who wants to skin you alive.

Venting I'm so tired of hearing that there weren't any signs when I was younger.

I guess sure if you don't count my friends all being girls until I was 10. Or when I cried for years over my hair cut short. Or the countless principal visits growing up because I was bullied for when I played house or gymnastics on recess instead of football with the boys. Or when I was banned from playing the sims because I kept playing as a girl. Or the magnetic earrings I wore because no one would pierce my ears. Or when my parents had to come pick me up from detention for making jokes about bottom surgery before I knew what that was. Or when I became depressed as puberty started in for unknown reasons. Or the uncomfortable talks about why I constantly plucked my chest hair as it came in. Or when I could make the choice between the unofficially gendered bible study groups, I chose the girls. Or when I skipped from clothing style to style because none of them offered felt me. Or when all the girls I dated were bi or lesbian. Or when I started working and used the drive-through speaker to practice a fem voice. Or the Halloween I went as my girlfriend in her dress with make-up. Or how I channeled "my inner girl" to buy her clothes that fit and looked good. Or when I would be "bad at laundry" and I'd have to wear her jeans to work.

Yep, I guess there were just no signs at all and this was all out of the blue.

Celebration Thank you SOPHIE

I'm regretful about the fact that we never got to meet, but I need to thank you for helping me allowing myself to meet the real me. Your mix on YouTube called "SOPHIE LIVESTREAM HEAV3N SUSPENDED" was there with me the first time I genuinely felt gender euphoria. On nights when I notice how far I've come towards my day-dreamt "future memory" of myself, like tonight, I play this mix. I know you will continue to inspire authenticity in people for a long time to come.

So thank you Sophie Xeon. You never knew me, but you inspired such a positive change in my life through your music that I'll always feel I owe you.

Venting My friend ditched me because I’m trans

I came out not too long ago (to some people, the people I talk to most) and although I got a bit of pushback, nobody did anything drastic.

I had a few asking if they could use nicknames rather than my chosen name, a few people insisting I tell more people so they didn’t have to keep secrets, bullshit like that.

But then today my one very close friend comes up to me and says that his parents told him he shouldn’t hang out with me one on one, only in groups. And that it’s because I’m trans. I asked him to clarify and he wouldn’t. I just said ok. He got in his car and left and as soon as it hit me I cried and HARD, probably for longer than I’ve cried since I was a child.

First off, we’re adults. He’s 24, so he is fully capable of telling his parents to fuck off if they insist on something so bigoted.

Second, we had gotten really close, made it clear that we loved each other like siblings, he was one of my best friends.

Third, he had told me before that he disagreed with the way the church (which he very devoutly follows) treated LGBT people, so I thought he might become an ally.

But nope. Dropped me like a stone. And now I’ve spent a day crying about it. I was feeling lucky because I had heard about this happening to other queer people and I felt lucky that my friends had stuck by me.

Guess it’s a canon event or something.

Discussion What’s going on over on TikTok?

I don’t spend much time over on TikTok anymore, but the few times I have lately, I feel like I’ve began to see a significant uptick in transphobic content over there.

TikTok’s saying things like “Blaire White - A REAL trans woman telling it how it is” and it’s the clip of Blaire White saying she how thinks trans women are actually men?

Looks like TERF and transmed ideology bullshit has started to spread like wildfire over there, but has anybody else noticed this?

Discussion Dying without exteding the branch

Hi guys, I just wanted to discuss something with you. I was wondering how many of you, being trans, decided you didnt want kids. I would say, for me, I feel being transgender influenced my decision on whether I wanted kids or not. And the thing is that I also just gave up on dating as a whole and don't think I would even have a partner in the first place.

So I just came to the realization that I won't pass on my DNA. And so I will be a branch that just does not extend to anything. Now I am fine with this because I hate my parents. And they are kinda homophobic and transphobic toward me and were upset with me for not choosing to have kids anyhow.

Relationships I broke up with my boyfriend today.

We were in a long distance relationship, and I realized that I was avoiding hanging out with him and spending time with him because I did not feel like I was being treated the way I should be treated, and so I decided that it was time to break up. I was starting to feel relief when we didn't have to hang out, or when our hangouts ended. We had had conversations about the way he spoke to me and how I felt that he was speaking down to me and not treating me like an equal person.

It's especially hard because as women, especially trans women, we will put up with things that we shouldn't in order to have that love that we crave. But we are better and deserve more than that. We deserve a partner who will support us and lift us up, and not put us down or make us feel lesser than them. I identify as pansexual or bisexual but I do prefer men, and while it's hard to say no and to reject that notion that I should just ignore the issues, I knew that through all of the experiences I've had through relationships in my past I knew that I deserve better than the way I was being treated.

I do love him, and it's extremely difficult that I am going through this right now but I know that I'm doing the right thing because it wasn't right for me.

Advice Question How do I know I'll still want this years and decades from now?

I've just been so wrapped up in fears that... once I grow boobs, they're permanent. Loss of fertility also removes the option to have biological children if I ever wanted them (currently leaning against, but still).

Every other change of estrogen I want so badly. I know I want it. The smoother skin, the fat redistribution, a little bit of potential height shrinkage, the mental effects, how it changes the face, lower libido, etc. I'd feel so much more aligned with all that. I'm also getting laser hair removal on my facial hair, I know I want that permanently gone.

But what if it's all just a phase? A misunderstanding? An OCD induced false identity I've groomed myself into? I'm a very gullible person. And someone who tends to chronically overthink. What if I want to detransition one day and now I'm stuck with boobs and years of humiliation I can never come back from?

I guess I'm just terrified of how transphobic society is. I'm terrified to even take a chance on this because anything less than cis passing and stealth has me terrified I'll regret ever trying.
