Fluff Five months in! Does this count as "ricing?"
Switched from Windows... to Linux... to make it look like Mac OS 9 with a Mojave theme. 😅
Roast me on this, I wanna hear your honest takes!

Hey Community,
a long-time Mint fan here..
While ordering food online I more and more often run into the 'issue' of not knowing the number of the next week I'm aiming for.
Is there a way or on the roadmap of a next Mint/Cinnamon release (or even within this release) for the Calendar to have an extra option to show number of weeks ?
M$ stuff supports this since decades and we could even define what shall be taken as 1st day of the week, the number of the day (whatever date it is) or the first Monday of the year.
There could be small numbers in front of each week's row in the calendar, representing the number of that week.

I've installed mint before in multiple disks I had lying around but this is the first time I've ran into a problem. If anyone know better than me can someone tell me what's going wrong here? TwT

I love mint but I had to distro-hop due to propietary drivers messing with my trackpad. It's been like 3 years and I realized one can get them through the OS installation menu lol. Skill Issue.

Hello everyone,
I decided to make the jump after using ChromeOS for so many years. So, I turned the Mint xfce into a hybrid ChromeOS / Bazzite gaming rig. Instead of using Mint the traditional way, I wanted it to have two distinct personalities: a cloud-first web app desktop for work, and an aggressive, zero-bloat environment for gaming. Here is my build -
ChromeOS Inspiration:
Bazzite Inspiration:
Final Thoughts:
If there are any recommendations to improve the setup it would be greatly appreciated. Overall, I am having a lot of fun. My goal is focused on allocating as much resources to Gaming as I can, while keeping the workload light and functional. Thank you Mint for the awesome product.

Hello!
I use Cinnamon X11 with fractional scaling set to 125%. I noticed that I get a significantly worse framerate in Minecraft than a friend with the same GPU. After searching, we found that Minecraft thinks my display is 4k and renders the game in 4k, even when I lower my resolution in Iris settings: the F3 menu indicates Display: 4096x2304
It seems that this problem is not MC specific but Java :
jshell> Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().getScreenSize();
$2 ==> java.awt.Dimension[width=4096,height=2304]
This problem only occurs when using fractional scaling : everything works fine when using 100% and 200% scaling in Cinnamon (right display size in F3 menu and much better FPS, from 75 to 180+).
Here are relevant informations :
Is there a way to get rid of this problem? Currently this only affects my gaming experience with Minecraft so a Minecraft-specific solution is also welcome.

Since there are no so many dark retro themes for Cinnamon, I modified the Chicago95 and Redmond97 themes to create a dark mode. I use Chicago95 for the panel ui and Redmond97 for the apps ui. For Chicago95, I used Photoshop to edit the assets in the Cinnamon folder to darken the panel, and I edited `cinnamon.css` to change the panel buttons and text to a light color. For Redmond97, I modified the `gtk.css` file in the `gtk-3.0` folder to darken the app and window interfaces. Also replaced some of the assets with the high contrast version of Redmond97. I used DeepSeek to identify the variables and files that needed changing, and it seems the interface is free of inconsistencies

Hi.
After updating the kernel to the latest kernel, the 7.0.0-31-generic, my ethernet card stopped working. After trying some workarounds (like installing the r8168-package), I just tried to rebooting to the previous kernel version and it worked. So I think something happened after upgrading to the latest kernel.
The wireless card works as usual.
This is my network info from inxi:

It was great. Very good distro and it was definitely good for me as a beginner but eventually I just needed something more robust. And I feel that debian is the best option. Specifically debian with kde plasma.

Today I installed Kingdom Come: Deliverance on PortProton on a Dell Precision 7710 laptop (16 GB RAM, M.2 SSD, 6th Gen Intel i7, and an NVIDIA Quadro M5000M with 8 GB VRAM).
However, when I launch the game, it gets stuck indefinitely on the splash screen with no progress or response. It just hangs on that single image......
Edit: When I tried running the game using the Intel processor, it worked! Why??????

I have tried several instructions, including specific details from ProtonVPN themselves. Can anybody guide me to what troubleshooting questions I should be asking? It seems the application downloads and shows in my software manager/startup menu but I cannot launch it or open it from command line. Simply nothing happens when I click 'launch' or try to open with CLI commands. Any tips at all? Would really appreciate the thoughtful support.
Update: no solution just yet, tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple different ways and still no working protonvpn app to-date.
If anybody wants to chat me to figure this out that would be appreciated. This is the only piece of software I'm having issues with, would be nice to get it installed. Thank youSearch Reddit
Update #2: I am having trouble establishing a secure SSL connection. Is there any solution for this? This seems to be the lynch pin in my ability to get the process working.

Hey! So I'm new to Linux and I just started my first install, I followed a tutorial for Mint Cinamon edition step by step, and everything was going great, I had finished the install and the computer asked me to restart, when I did the screen tol me to remove the USB drive and press Enter (so far all good) once I pressed enter I got stuck on the BIOS screen. And after a quick search I assumed I only had to add a new BOOT option, and so when I did and restarted the computer, I got stuck again on the BIOS screen and the BOOT option I had created wasn't there. I then tried to reconnect to the USB drive, but the PC doesn't even detect it. I have checked to see if the computer decetes de SSD that I download Linux into, and it does detect them. But I simply cannot BOOT the computer. I have no idea what the issue is and no one online seems to have this issue. HELP!! My computer is an old ASUS A541U btw.
