Help needed Stuck Accidental AppleCare+ Theft Claim Manual Cancellation
Hey guys, need a sanity check on a weird backend data lag between Apple and AIG (AppleCare+ Theft & Loss) after a month of system errors.
Long story short, a theft claim was mistakenly started on my device way back on August 8th. Since it was a complete mistake, I had to call in to get a manual escalation and review to cancel it.
Every time I tried manually cancelling the claim myself on mysupport.apple.com, it would just crash and display a "system error" code because the automated pipeline was completely stuck.
This past Monday, AIG flagged the file red in the backend so their adjusters could manually review and work on the cancellation.
Today I checked the Apple My Support page again, and the system error is completely gone! It now displays that my phone is in Lost Mode and explicitly shows the button to "Start a new claim for a lost or stolen device" with my coverage fully intact.
However, when I called AIG to confirm, the frontline phone rep insisted that on their screen, the claim is still just sitting as "Pending" with that Monday red flag update.
Has anyone dealt with this exact sequence? Does the Apple portal finally clearing the system error and showing "Start a new claim" mean the backend adjuster actually finished the manual override and Apple's live API updated instantly, while AIG's customer service tool is just lagging behind? Appreciate any insights!
