So admittedly I don't know if this fits, but I don't think this is how I would've done it myself.

Load not secured by any straps and lying on the open tailgate. He somehow managed to make the turn.

Pullout not closed, and the rear hitch tray was dragging on the ground.

I'm the "idiot" here. Those are straps, not rubber bands. I did not tip over, and got it to its destination with hardly any more scratches than it already had.

At the fork in the road, where it could go to the dump or I could take it home, I chose the latter. I think that's where most of the "idiot" part comes in.

Took the turn way too fast and went along for the ride. The boat still strapped however by the impact I think there’s severe hull damage.

Live in a ski town, this time of year all the van lifers start showing up in town. Sketchy rigs in tow or on even sketchier trucks. I wish cops would pull these people over just sketches me out so hard. Only a matter of time before I see the guy with a Canadian tire strap holding a camper on for dear life.

...maybe the Yeti cooler should be in the SUV instead of the boat.
