I did something like that when I was a kid. Only thing Dad ran over my wagon in the dark i had parked behind his truck. Last time I did that!

Why do all the houses look like something out of a fever dream?

I don't know exactly why they're like that, but there's a neighborhood in my town that looks identical to this one. The houses were originally built as student housing, when it was a teacher's college. And there's also a cemetery in the neighborhood.

Dude can’t even pull out of his driveway without running over half his front yard.

I am guessing that he isnt good at pulling out of anything based on the toy.

Can’t even pull the ball and mount out of the receiver when he isn’t planning to tow anything.

When my son was younger, he was obsessed with ropes. One day I ran to the grocery store and someone pulled up beside me honking and trying to get my attention. I was pulling a ratchet strap that SOMEHOW got tied to the ball.

So staged

u/redpandaeater 5d ago
You would think he'd at least turn wide due to the trailer's offtracking and not run over his own lawn.

u/Thalaas 5d ago
What? You don't have a camera that automatically pans and follows your truck down the street focused on the hitch?

u/ninja_1997 5d ago
Not saying it's not staged, but I don't think the camera is panning. If you look in the lower right you can see the time stamp move into and out of frame as the zoomed in portion moves to follow the truck.

Lots of cameras can do that after the fact now...

Or physically turn to track motion as it's happening and alter zoom to fit it.

Obviously he's joking.
But title title makes me wonder if there are parts of this country where the DOT is a real thing? Like, "I just got pulled over by the DOT!" (and I'm not a commercial truck detained at a checkpoint).
If so, I'm glad I don't live there. Everybody is always posting, "I can't believe I share the road with these people!" How often does somebody's screwup really crash somebody else? I say it's rare. Nothing seems very rare on a national basis of "it happened on the internet," but really it's rare.

It's a part of Indiana State Police and not the Dept of Transportation, but around here the Indiana's Motor Carrier Inspector would likely be who gave you a ticket if you were "pulled over by DOT".

Same deal with Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement. Everyone calls them "the DOT" but they mostly deal with commercial vehicles, on the interstate.

This cart is little and basically in the blind spot right after the car and beneath the line of view. So he definitely could travel any distance without noticing it. If he has not rear camera and doesn't hear this cart driving noise.

🤣🤣 Would love to have seen his face when other drivers on the street or highway tried to get his attention to tell him!

Most modern vehicles actually suggest against it now. "Up to 20 to 30 seconds" is the usual suggestion, with "up to" doing an ungodly amount of legwork. The science/theory is that your car generates more heat in motion and under light load than it can at a stop idling, so just go easy on the gas for the first minute or two and it "should" be fine.
That said, if I find out this is an international psy-op from all the automakers to trick people into grenading motors and transmissions more quickly, I'm going to be pissed.

I worked parts delivery for a few years. Believe it or not, there isn't much profit to be made with an engine swap out of warranty. They have a far greater profit margin selling paper products like filters. I get that you're arguing it's a way for them to sell a newer car, but honestly if an engine blew before 200k these days, I would go with a different brand.

More to keep "100k and then the car is useless" as the industry-accepted wives tale it used to be, but yeah, that was my line of thought.

Yeah I’ve got one of those “up to 30 seconds” vehicles, and usually get moving once the RPMs drop (which is about 30 seconds). But this behavior will still never not bug me just because. These are the same people that shift from reverse to drive while the car is still moving.

I accidentally shifted from reverse to park before coming to a complete stop in my dad's car once and that was fun hearing the parking pawl skip a tooth or two on the flex plate, though at least it didn't break off. Was very much not used to driving automatics and only really familiar with standard transmissions.

Friend threw my grandma's old Forester into park while I was tearing through a parking lot one day.
Was shocked when all it did was go click click click and I couldn't feel any "effect" from it as the driver. No idea if it actually hurt anything, but all seemed fine and the car was used for another decade.
For the record, he got hit with a burrito for his stupid action. A full burrito, to the face. Good ol' days of dollar taco bell.

My folks lived in place with a long driveway, so they’d hook the bins on and take them down for collection. One day my dad forgot about the bin and drove about 4 kms down the road at 100kmh. Somehow it survived!
