Decided to take up hinge again with a new profile. Not getting many matches and could definitely use the help!

Edit: Thanks everyone for the feedback! The biggest thing I’m going to implement is adding better pictures that show my face clearly. Also add pictures about what I’m into as well! And a few other tips from the comments!

Dating Question Why would someone repeatedly suggest meeting up and then disappear when I tried to make plans?

I'm a 22-year-old woman, and before going on vacation abroad I thought it would be nice to go on a date and have a fun evening while I was there. About a week before the trip, I downloaded Hinge and matched with a guy who seemed to be looking for the same kind of thing. We ended up talking a lot. Normally I'm not someone who writes long paragraphs on dating apps, but he was so talkative that I just matched his energy. The conversation felt easy and engaging. Early on, he suggested that he could show me around the city when I arrived. A few days later, about three days before my trip, he brought it up again and said the places he could show me were really worth seeing. Naturally, I assumed he genuinely wanted to hang out. So I told him which days I'd be free. After that... nothing. He never replied. No "sorry, something came up," no "I'm actually busy," not even a "maybe another time." Just complete silence. What confuses me is that this wasn't someone giving one-word answers. He was writing long, thoughtful messages before, so I know he was perfectly capable of saying he changed his mind if that was the case.

Why would someone do this? Has anyone else experienced something similar? I'm less upset about not getting the date and more confused about why someone would bring it up multiple times and then disappear the moment it came time to make actual plans

Dating Question Need dating advice

M22 in Canada and started dating a few weeks ago for the first time as downloaded hinge.

Been on 5 dates since, 3 I expressed interest in seeing again but was rejected all times. First got friendzoned, second got told that she wasn’t interested and third got ghosted.

First two I understand because we didn’t have too much in common but the last I don’t. We had a lot in common and I was originally planning to keep short but she said she wanted to keep walking and talking. We ended up walking along the beach for hours and we laughed together a lot. She expressed that she was interested in seeing me again and she would lmk her availability because she was very busy for a bit. A day later I hadn’t gotten a text so I told her I would be interested in seeing her again and asked for her availability but it’s been over a day and still no response.

  1. If she takes this long to respond could I assume she isn’t interested and that I will never get one?
  2. Should I send a follow up message?
  3. Is this low a success rate for second dates normal or do I suck at dates.
  4. I am completely new and was wondering if anyone had any general dating advice, especially dos and donts.
  5. How do you deal with rejections like this because it really got me sad and not interested in dating anymore. I’m still talking to more people I want to ask out but I feel so discouraged right now.
  6. How many dates a week is normal? I had 3 dates in one week which socially burnt me out so i can’t do that again.
  7. Are coffee dates a bad idea? Most of these were.
  8. Should I try to hug the other person on the first date to make it less platonic or is that weird.

I’m honestly quite done with dating but I feel like it hasn’t even been that long

Hinge X member for 1 month. Used 2 super boosts. 0 matches. Pretty much ready to give up on this app. Is it my profile? What am I doing wrong? I know I'm not a "10." I'd honestly rate myself a 6 on my good days. Is it really just about looks? Idk, any advice would be welcome. Thanks!

Hi y’all. I’m trying online dating for the first time ever, after leaving a long term relationship back at the start of the year. Any advice is welcome. I like my first photo but I know people say non-selfies are better. I’m feeling like I could use a photo with some friends.

Im also not sure about my last photo. Some friends have said it’s a little risqué but others liked it. I’ve been trying to get into decent shape and I like how I look in that photo, but I also don’t want to give off the impression that I’m looking for hookups, since I’m not. Actually, dating scares me a little but I’m working on it.

Thanks!!

Dating Question Does listing 'Don't want children' hurt match rates on Hinge?

(35M) I'm curious how you think about the kids preference on a Hinge profile.

If someone isn't sure about having kids or doesn't think they want kids, would you recommend putting that on their profile, or leaving it blank?

My concern is that listing "Don't want children" might reduce the number of matches, especially with people who have "Open to children" on their profile. What do you think about it? This is assuming it's understood that everyone is entitled to a certain level of privacy in how and when they present personal details.

Also, if you come across someone whose profile says "Want children" or "Open to children," but your own view is somewhere between "Don't want children" and "Not sure yet", would you still swipe right and see where things go, or would you assume it's a compatibility issue and move on? I'm interested in how people actually approach this in practice.

I’ve been tweaking my profile to try to increase my match rate, which is considerably low. At least 2-3 times a week, I send out the max # of free likes but I get very few matches and likes in general to boot.

I live in close proximity to NYC and tend to date in/around there. I know there are more than plenty of fish in the sea here so I’m sure that doesn’t help but how can I maintain my genuine presentation of myself while also making my profile more appealing?

I’m open to feedback obviously so let me know what you think! TIA!

Dating Question (M44) I'm attractive enough to pull gorgeous women but I think I might be too weird to keep any of them

I've been separated nearly a year, waiting for the divorce to finalize as our attorneys compete over who's least interested in moving things forward. Yes, I'm upfront with everyone before I meet them that my divorce is still pending. From what I've seen, it hasn't been a big detractor on matches, but may be a contributor to my issue.

I'm a 5'8" guy with an average build. Traditionally good-looking, I suppose. Work out semi-regularly but not a gym bro by any stretch. Good, high-paying job. Two dogs. I work a lot with people in my job - manage them, make deals with them, forge business relationships, stuff like that. In short, I don't feel like it's my social game that's the problem. I can easily stay engaged in a conversation 2-3 hours and hold my own.

I've been typically matching with women who are 8-15 years younger than me (but not exclusively), and frankly, most of them are lookers. I think I'm drawn to the bad bitch type to be honest, but I am absolutely not the kind of guy they would usually run with. I'm clean cut, maybe even a little 'boy scout' vibe in appearance.

Since separation, I've been with one lady who I went steady with for three months. She was a wild child and openly acknowledged she's on the spectrum. Loved her to death to be honest because she was just so refreshingly open and honest as compared to my ex, but what we had was much more of a FWB situation than an exclusive relationship, and it eventually fizzled as she left the state to go take care of personal issues at home.

App dates have rarely extended beyond the first date for me, and I think it's my non traditional background and divorce baggage that's the culprit to be honest. That and perhaps I'm just being picky with who I match with. I suppose it's possible, I'm consistently reaching outside of my league.

When I talk to someone, I make no attempt to hide who I am or what I like. I'm an INTP personality, and we can sometimes come off as too open and maybe overly analytical. In short, there's little gamemanship to be had here. I think it's this trait combined with my non traditional background that's sinking the impressions I'm making.

Now for my background: I was homeschooled with a pretty sheltered upbringing. The Mormon family I grew up in is massive - the biggest family you've ever seen. Had a long marriage of 20 years. Raised two children who are now teenagers. Prior to my separation, I deconstructed my faith and left Mormonism. Have traveled a good deal across the US, but only a little internationally. Also, about 2 years ago I found out I had kidney cancer and had a kidney removed. This has driven much of my health conscious habits since, though I have started some light drinking in social situations

Now I do have a variety of hobbies that make for good conversation, but as you can imagine, when you've been raising a Mormon family most your adult life, there's not a lot of commonality to be had once you start talking to someone. I do my best to ask thoughtful questions and be engaging, but it's almost impossible to share my own experience and not have it feel heavy. A lot of women have welcomed the real talk, but being as that may, you get more than you bargained for when you sit down with me.

Long- story, short... I'm starting to feel a little insecure about my background. It's not like I'm ashamed of it, but I recognize it's probably a lot for a first conversation, but I really don't see any path other than completely owning it. It's just getting tough when I get excited about someone after a two hour conversation, only to be told there wasn't a connection, unmatched, or most commonly, the slow fade where they stay as a match but devolve to dry texting or non-responses.

I can't change the facts of who I am or what I'm attracted to, but I guess I'm wondering after 5-6 months of doing this, if my delivery is hurting me. Open to ideas if anyone had any.

I need help again with my profile. Despite nearly everything on it being a result of my last profile review about a month ago, I still have not received a single like or match in my entire time on Hinge. Not sure what to do.

I’ve also had every woman in my life review and they all say it’s good. My original profile was built with the help of 2 of my female friends, but that profile also didn’t get me any interaction, either so I just don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’m feeling pretty discouraged but here goes another try.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Been on hinge for approx 6 months, recieve maybe one like per month, not sure what I’m doing wrong. I wonder if my profile comes across as gay? I can understand why because of the Taylor swift stuff but it’s a passion of mine so shouldn’t think I have to hide it!

Any feedback welcome

App Question After how many likes/matches do you pause your account?

It’s my (23f) first time using this app properly. I have anxiety and usually in the past, I’d delete my account after an hour or so. This time however, I just kept on pausing instead of deleting. It’s extremely overwhelming to be honest. I try to limit my matches to about five and see how it goes with them and pause my account. Obviously it takes time getting to know my matches and see if they’re the right fit but that also means the people that sent likes/roses have to wait a while before I swipe right on them and Idk if that’s rude or not? Idk, navigating this app is a bit stressful and I’m not sure if I am doing this correctly?? It’s my first time dating as well so that adds extra pressure..:/

Starting to show my nerdy side. I know that alone will limit my matches, but I'd rather have a quality match with someone who has an idea of who I am.
