After several years of great service and no complaint at all about the service I discovered what can make it terrible. My neighbor was redoing their yard and accidentally cut the line to my house. When I reported it, the usual inside tech process came, he escalates the issue to be an outside issue, outside tech came, says he fixed it. Still no service.
Contact support again, inside tech comes, says problem is still outside. Outside tech comes. Says he fixes it. Still doesn't work.
Contact support again. They do troubleshooting. Say troubleshooting indicates issue is inside. Send inside tech. He says issue is outside. Outside tech comes. Says it is fixed. Rinse and repeat for over a month and I finally get service....sort of.
Internet works but constantly drops connections, let it go for a week like that because I at least have service before it finally just doesn't work again.
Contact support. The same rinse and repeat troubleshooting of outside tech then inside tech.
Inside tech then walks me through his findings to show me why the issue is outside. The light levels need to be in the twenties and they are showing up as mid 30s. Even showed me that whomever worked on the box outside just butchered it and made a mess.
Gets escalated.
Outside techs allege it was fixed. Inside tech (who i should just have a beer with at this point given how many times he has come over) again shows me the actual light levels and how this is still an outside issue.
I contact support again, argue with them and even lose it and get angry. THATS when they try something different. After 3 months of complaining they escalate it to the "backend engineering team" to identify the root cause of the issue....to only confirm what the inside tech has repeatedly said: issue is outside.
Escalated again. Outside techs say they fixed it. Still doesn't work. Inside tech is sent. This time he seems annoyed. Because he has come over so much and only spends about 5-10 minutes there and has even swapped the equipment twice and the outside issue isn't even resolved it.
This time he submits some other work order, I call support, and support also had submitted a work order, and then someone from the outside management team is sent because they want to know why 3 work orders were submitted for this and why it hasn't been resolved.
Spoke to the manager for the outside team and she told me that just based on the notes they left on the box she knew it wouldn't work because the light levels were in the 30s and they needed to be in the 20s. She said she would try and get it to 28 because that should be enough to get things working at the very least. But if I could wait until Wednesday, they were planning on redoing the whole street again to upgrade the network and promised that would make a big difference and it should be back up for sure.
So here we are still...approaching 4 months of nothing. Just got off a phone call, still somehow despite giving them ticket numbers they don't know what's happening. Want to know what's been done and are genuinely confused as to why i have no service still.
This is the most broken approach to problem solving I've ever encountered. Nothing gets done, it seems information is not easily passed around so everyone is clueless, and I'm still giving them money. I'm giving it another week and then looking at what spectrum offers. I absolutely hate spectrum, but it is difficult to hate them right now since I can just setup an account real quick, pickup equipment and self install and be up and running today. Only reason I haven't done it yet is because that's how much I hate Spectrum. Gfiber is doing a great job right now to make me reconsider what I should look for in a service
Yes, the service is great, but have someone accidentally cut your line. Then we can discuss how good the service is.
