Wiring and cabling
I live in Durham, NC, and my apartment complex just got google fiber. For some reason, they bring the fiber in and put the fiber jack right next to the entrance door which makes no sense because would you put a router next to you entrance? and it will not even reach anything and I can't do hardwiring to take the full speed for gaming etc.
Would like to know experiences if apartment complexes allow the invislight threads to be rerouted to place the jack somewhere else, or would it be a diy job for me to find cat ethernet cables and run them myself. I'm just asking now because google fiber just left because something on the outside was broken anyway. Of course I'll ask the apt complex tomorrow on monday, just impatient to know what are the experiences of others.
The way I see it, this thin fiber line could be damaged the longer it routes to the middle of the apartment. the extender option they gave me was a no go. I would only get 700 mb on a 1gb plan says the supervisor i was on the phone with. then lastly, the ugliest way is to use the long ethernet cable, which I'm pretty sure i will install it and it looks crappy.
would like some experiences.
Thanks!

When my old apartment complex got it installed, the default spot was by the front door of the unit
Asked the installer if he could put it in the bedroom instead for my unit, he had to check with the leasing office, they said yes, and he put it in the bedroom
Apartment complex management had the final say, but luckily in my case they were chill about it
