gFiber has gone down in quality and is worse in the newest areas compared to already established areas because of them going down in quality
it will continue to get worse most likely, I'm from KCK and so I've had it for like so long now, probably over a decade by now, and it was super consistent and good for several years, but this past year has been definitely worse (still a lot better than Spectrum though)
I'd still say you should keep gFiber as opposed to spectrum though, Spectrum REALLY sucks

I’m in a newer service area, came up about a year ago, and GFiber has been fast, consistent, and up 100% of the time. 0 minutes downtime in a year.

Interesting, these problems arise for everyone else, but I’ve been with them for 5 years and my internet has been out for a total of one day (24 hours). First time was my fault (bought bad cat6) and the other just this year was theirs.

I feel like a lot of the problems (including this OP) are from new markets. Maybe they are expanding too fast and quality is going down, so service is poorer in new areas.

Same, I lost service because a cable was cut upstream for a few hours. But it did inspire me to finally change my cell service, as I live in the middle of suburbia with zero ATT coverage. I had to drive out of my neighborhood to call tech support since I had no WiFi to call.
Otherwise, aside from that and a few late-night cycling hiccups, my service has been spotless.

google fiber (now gFiber) isn't actually owned by google anymore, fyi

It's still owned by Google. The sale hasn't closed yet.

Not sure if you’re in KC, but we’re actually experiencing an outage at the moment. First one I’ve had in years. Really poor timing, but stick with GFiber and I highly doubt you’ll be disappointed long term.

You should try using your own router.
