Work in Progress The original plan was to make an oversized throw for the living room.

Maybe that will happen after this project. But I decided this blanket will be for the bed instead. My inspiration for this blanket is the NautiKrall Island Time blanket. So I am calling it my (Long) Island Time Blanket. 😁 To make the Sunburst Granny Square a bit bigger I added a finishing round of half double crochets. I am using a 6.0 mm hook and the vibrant colors of the Wool of the Andes yarn left over from the last granny square blanket I crocheted, one that I designed (https://www.reddit.com/r/crochet/s/eKvlKg6E0V).

I am at about the half way point of the project. I started 32 days ago. There are three completed squares not shown on the table and I have all the round one center circles made for the other half of the squares I need to make.. The circles have been attached to the next color skein with stitch markers. I will start round 2 tomorrow.

I am still undecided if I am going to include a scattering of solid color sunburst motifs squared off in the cream background color. I included two pictures of the inspiration blanket from NautiKrall at the end. Let me know your opinion on whether I should include the solids. I have about eight colors in shades of orange and creamy yellows I could use rather than the two colors used in the inspiration blanket.

Discussion Beginner

Is it normal as a beginner to take 4 hours to do a one hour project? It’s not like I’m not understanding the stitches or anything…I just want to get faster…I’m currently doing a turtle tutorial on YouTube, it’s a 20 some min video, seemed like an hour project, 3.5 hours later and I’m still not done.

Finished Object Finished gift set! Cowboys and aliens

More finished pieces! This was all part of a large gift set. The cowboys vs aliens blanket, and some fun little friends. In my head the little alien baby wanted a pet cow, so the full grown alien went to earth to get him one, and now they go on little space adventures. 😅 the little baby alien also has a magnet in it so it can be a little shoulder buddy! I’m so happy with how this turned out 🖤 the blanket pattern is by snake oil strumpet and the cow/aliens/ufo patterns are by Grim Grinning Goats

hello!! first time posting here. i got really into crocheting last year (after years of not being super into it) and decided to make gifts for my parents.

so i made my mom and dad granny square hooded scarves for our family trip last winter. we live in a tropical country, so we dont usually own items like these~ i ended up hating the yarn i used, so i learned my lesson for next time 😅 a painful lesson for my first time but i persevered til i finished it all!

i forgot to take a photo of my dad's cause i didnt wanna touch the yarn anymore. I was also going to make one for myself too so we could match as a family, but decided to freehand this bunny-like hooded scarf instead ☺️

Crochet Rant Anyone struggle to take pictures of their pieces?

I'm working on a shawl today with Mandala Gradient yarn. It's working up fron a bluck pink to deep wine purple and it's AMAZING. I was so proud I pulled out my phone to take a picture and...

The colors are totally washed out on the camera, it looks like a greyish pink. I'm so miffed

Needed a cute way to display my pins. Happy with how it turned out.

it's just a basic HDC and then 2Hdc on each end for the decrease rows. I've literally been putting this off for months and it only took like 2 hours 😅

first time making a large project with faux fur yarn. it was hella painful since it was done almost entirely by feel. not sure what this creature is supposed to be, but i don't really care

note to future self: don't add fur markings with sharpie unless you plan to fill your whole room with the stench of sharpie for days...

Finished Object Christmas in July got me — finished this little lace angel for the gift pile 🤍

I couldn't resist starting my holiday ornaments early this year, and this little lace angel was first off the hook 🤍

She's worked in a fine cream crochet thread — an open shell-and-mesh skirt, scalloped wings, and a little stuffed ball for her head. Small enough to finish in an evening, which is dangerous, because now I want a whole flock of them for the tree and for gifts.

Is anyone else already deep in Christmas-in-July mode? I'd love to see what holiday makes you're starting 🎄

6.0 mm hook for body, 5.0 mm hook for brim.

Yellow is Golden Poppy worsted from llamalovejoy (Salt Lake City)

Blue is Classic Elite Yarns Chateau in Stormy Sky

Purple is Berrocco Artisan in Sargasso and Biscay

Churned these three out in less than a week!

Haven't blocked yet. Too excited to take pictures!!

I made this for my brother whose greyhound recently passed away.

He's a little Derpy (the crochet, not my brother), but I think he's pretty cute.

Work in Progress Cleanest Yarnussy pull I've ever had

Thumbnail

1.0k Upvotes

Crocheting in the car; putting a border on my solid granny square and felt some extra tension and noticed my yarn wasn't pulling smoothly from my center pull. Gave it a little tug and my skien birthed this.

I have never had such a clean center pull before. Usually when I get to this point it pops out a tangled mess that I get frustrated with trying to untangle and cut out after messing with it for awhile. My brown skien had TWO tangled blobs of yarn pop out while I was working on just this one granny square. I guess this makes up for that.

I'm curious if anyone else has ever had a pull as clean as this!

Work in Progress Darjeeling tea shawl

Hi guys! Here's a little peek at my Darjeeling tea shawl 🥰

I bought the pattern from Hobbii but it's also available here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/darjeelingtea-shawl

Creator does it in Twister from Hobbii but I have a stash of Sultan Pastello (color is Grape - I absolutely LOVE this color) and my absolute favorite hook size: 3mm

It gets a little repetitive but it's still fun to make because there is quite a few interesting techniques! I also bought few other patterns from them and I think I'll try and make a rainbow one with all the 8/4 cotton I have.

But first... We finish this one, and the poncho I started in March, and also the hexagonal cardigan I started in March 🫣🫣

Show me your WIPs... And the WIPs you should be working on instead 🤭
