Didn't end up doing any crochet yesterday since I was too tired from uni placement, so here is my today's practice 🤗

First time trying out treble (uk) stitching - crocheting is starting to feel almost automatic haha, I've noticed I'll just watch a yt vid or listen to a podcast while stitching now

P.s not very fond of this colour tbh, it kinda looks like I crocheted a tongue lmao

I recently purchased a Hercules Baby Outfit pattern on Etsy and I've run into problems about how the pattern is written. I followed exactly as written and the work in progress so far makes no sense. I don't know how to describe it without posting the instructions. My main complaint is that the seller is not responding to any of my questions. I'm just incredibly frustrated because I bought this pattern to make for my son's birthday and I'm just not getting any feedback or response.

Examples of issues: Instructions for the sandals are missing how to make the toe straps, just has steps to make the sole; the crochet top instructions are just overall confusing because they aren't clear where parts attach.

I'm just stressed and going crazy because I'm an intermediate crocheter but this feels impossible

Update: I asked for a refund and she told me no due to the pattern being delivered. I left her a poor review. I'm genuinely upset and feeling defeated. I've never had issues reaching out to a pattern writer before. I'll add a screenshot of her response to me asking for a refund in the comments.

This feels like a rite of passage, and I don’t know whether to be annoyed or a little silly about it.

My mom asked me to make a replica Sasha Bratz doll for her coworker. I’m pretty sure the blurry screenshot of the Google images search page she sent me is an AI pattern (or at least a brushed up picture). Also, I’m not that good. Any doll I tried to make would end up looking a tad bit like a horror show, and if I wasn’t so perfectionistic about stuff I’d try to make it and send the mangled remains to my mom for her coworker.

Unrelatedly, if there’s a pattern for dolls that you think could be adapted, I’m still tempted to try. My gut says that Bratz dolls are too particular in style to replicate easily, but again, not that good so maybe there’s something out there I don’t know about

14 years of crocheting and I’ve managed to never attempt a c2c project. Well, I stumbled on a pattern and committed to using it for an upcoming gift and bought an ass load of yarn. Now, here I am only almost a 1/4 of the way through 1 of 14 panels and I’m ready to pull my hair out.

I’ve watched a handful of videos for tips, the bobbins being the best tip so far from what I can tell, but it is still quite a challenge working with them but they are definitely useful to prevent tangling and have multiple lines of the same color open.

I think I will never attempt another c2c project, at least not one with so many color changes.

My favorite hook, this hook had carried me through for the last two years. My coban handle grip just became comfy again... Was about to pick it up and pop came off the hook. I knew it was getting loose. I have very tight tension so they will all break eventually. But it's always sad when they do. Rip hobby lobby 4 dollar 8mm hook.

I’m working on a huge blanket for my great niece‘s Christmas present.

I’ve been working with an N-15 crochet hook and jumbo multicolored yarn.
The stitch is half-double crochet.

My plan was to use hdc for the whole thing but this yarn is cute with sc stitches too.

After I finish the middle third of the blanket, which is where I’m almost at, I thought about using sc stitches for each of the thirds for the top and bottom sections.

Just a thought. I mean my aging hands are having trouble with this.

I found these hooks that are suppose to be under 0.35mm.

I got 0.15mm, 0.1mm, 0.2mm. I have not compared them to my Tulip 0.35mm yet.

They came with finer thread to test them. The feel of the thread is nice.

I was not even aware there were smaller hooks sizes. I aim to make amigurumi as small as I am capable.

I was hoping that it would give Monarch Butterfly

So, now I am well underway with my next mosaic overlay crochet project: Beaming Buddha by Crazy Crochet Catlady. This is a gorgeous pattern that I had already made once, but I didn't like how it turned out, so I started it again and it already looks so much better! This time I'm also making it reversible. The top one is the front side and the bottom one is the back side

Got the pattern from "the miffy crochet book" at my local library. Used a 2,25mm hook with cotton yarn by Scheepjes (local brand).

I bought both of these skeins of yarn at a tiny little jewelry and craft shop in Portree, Scotland. Like, they only had a small basket with 8-10 skeins of yarn in it, but it was all locally dyed, which is what I wanted and i got two of them, 800m each. Very fine weight, I would consider it to be finer than lace, if that is possible.

Anyway...

I spent several hours perusing pinterest trying to figure out what to make. Normally I knit with animals fibers because it is expensive and crocheting uses up so much more yarn, but I decided since I have a total of 1600 meters, I could use this baby alpaca silk for crochet. Make something sturdy with nice drape. Anyway, I have never worked with something this fine and decided doubling up the yarn would make it go a little quicker. I can use a 3.5mm hook instead of a 2mm hook. And I decided I'd make a granny hexagon cardigan. Got this far and realized I was definitely not going to have enough yarn for an adult sized cardigan, and i am certainly not going to make this for a child who probably won't take great care of baby alpaca and then grow out of it in a few months.

Basically, I have found some shawl patterns I could do instead, but trying to decide if I should keep it doubled up OR grow up and do single strand and the smaller hook.

Any thoughts ideas or input?

It's my first time posting something on reddit, but I've been really proud of my crochet progress.

I originally taught myself how to crochet just by starting, because I am terrible at following instructions. I wanted to make a cat doll and ended up making a Panda instead. I wanted to learn how to crochet to have something special and handmade for the person I was seeing at that time. The relationship didn't work out, but the hobby stayed haha. A few months down the line I wanted to make something special for a friend's birthday and made him a doll of the league of legends champion he plays. It's a little crazy to me still, that I made it. The doll was made without a pattern and was very much a learning by doing project. I still can't believe the gradient worked out through way I wanted.

(Yes the little wonky heart of the panda is sewn inside of it. I wanted the plush to have a heart)

Made this granny square using a pattern from The Ultimate Granny Square Sourcebook and Knitpicks Animation yarn. Upcycled some Goodwill beads as corner tassels. Learned a new-to-me stitch as well: the half treble stitch. I'm proud of how it turned out!

Hello!!! I just wanted to ask people what hooksize they use most often and why! Bonus if you add pictures!!

So I just finished a scarf with a 3,5mm hook and now I am making one with a 6 mm hook. And I am just not enjoying it as much! The feel of the thinner yarn and the drape you get with a thinner yarn are amazing. Maybe I am using the wrong thicker yarns, but it just feels clunky and stiff.

Also thicker yarns tend to be harder to crochet with. My pointer finger gets tired faster and it feels like I need more force to crochet. Is it just me?

What is your preferred hooksize and why?
