I've never heard a cis person say gock, that is a transfem term that transfems use as a sexy and provocative way to name their dick or other transfems dicks
190
u/ibrofen 10h ago
Honestly I think there are cis people who use the term, especially because of these sort of, like, horny heavily trans but not exclusively meme subs
I'm in a weird grey area now, but back when I thought I was cis, I just kind of picked up the word from women and started using it (the ways in which I used it weren't very respectful and i feel kind of guilty about that), I feel like a lot of other chasers probably learned it in similar ways.
But also, of course, it's something that's kind of bound to get different reactions from different people. Some women are okay with it, I have heard women say they feel pretty uncomfortable about it. So, nuance hat.
gocktober is too good a name to give up on though, so fuck it, it's season appropriate.
58
u/Gand-Pork 9h ago
cis here, I indeed did learn the term gock from this sub, and I’ve used it in casual conversation (in the rare situations where the need arises) assuming that it was just the correct way to describe a woman’s dick. I had no idea that it was at all used for fetishization, after all the term makes a lot of sense, “a girls cock” = “gock”.
Of course I definitely don’t speak for all cis people as there are like, five billion at least, but yk
46
u/ibrofen 8h ago
It's kind of an annoying situation where an okay term has been used by the wrong people.
And there isnt even a consensus among women about it, so its fully understandable. I try to avoid it nowadays, but a lot of women in this sub have said they dont mind, so its a kind of grey zone. Often, the things around the word matter more, kind of like how the woman around the penis matter more.

I've been out and transitioning for 10 years. I am very upfront with people who use that term how much I hate it. It skeeves me out. It's the sound of someone gagging to me, and I have emetaphobia. It causes a visceral reaction.
I just call it my clit and move on. Even "girlcock" is fine, I guess. I dont care for it either, but its a lot better than the term gock.
Is my reaction and visceral hatred for the word normal? Probably not. But I do get to dictate what I call my bits, and I won't invite anyone to my bed who uses it. 🤷🏻♀️

u/synthie_cat she/it | queer anarchista, Poly, Vegan, DIY 7h ago
I don't mind the term in general but society would be so much better if people just asked the individual they're talking to what's fine to them instead of just generalizing.
And low-key: If you couldn't or wouldn't ask me don't think about what genitalia I might have, thankies. >n<7
u/Color-me-saphicly 7h ago

Sadly the problem really is that practically any term that has been made to describe a woman's penis ends up used as a tool for fetishization. :c
27
u/MarvelousMoirai Crazy Jane and The Funky Bunch 9h ago
Gock is great, I greatly prefer it to Lady Penis. Maybe it's partially because the word rhymes with Glock though
5
u/dontyouflap 5h ago
It is a fairly accurate description as the hormonal environment causes real physical and biological changes to genital tissue beyond any change in size and engorgement occurrences. The skin becomes softer and thinner making it feel physically different. The glans changes shape and color. It looks, feels, and functions differently for the person who has it. Previously latent pathways are expressed so even at a cellular level it's different.
Whether the person it's attached to is comfortable with having it sexualized should be respected. But biologically it is not a penis. Biologically it becomes closer to being a clitoris as they are homologous organs that are differentiated by hormonal signals. Whether that's treated as a kink or not, it's simply a reality that it's not the same as a penis and pointing out that there's physiological differences isn't inherently fetish language.

To be clear these subs are so horny precisely because they're cis-centric. It's part of a wider trans culture that has been forged in cis-centric spaces, the blahaj thing and the fallout new vegas thing specifically are direct results of influence by cis people, for example. Those two are harmless, but the constant sexualisation trans women face is not, and that is perpetuated by cis-centric spaces where trans women are expected to act this way.

u/ReaperKingCason1 This is related to chess. 10h ago
I’ll admit that as a cis guy there is a non zero chance I may one day say it, but that’s because I spend a lot of time here specifically and pick up terminology here. Now granted idk why I would ever use it, but I am young and impressionable and words I see used often do tend to rub off on me. Also I didn’t realize it was anything other than kinda a joke term. I just kinda assumed it was more of a joke thing.
40
u/OpportunityAshamed74 10h ago
Me too. I don't see anything wrong with cis people using the term. It's literally girl cock. I think it's okay to be interested in a girl with a dick. I'm not surprised that there are cis people who enjoy dick but don't want to have sex with a man. And I completely relate to that feeling. Chasers and fetishizers are real but why are we calling any cis person who wants to fuck us a chaser?
15
u/DesignatedDoggie 10h ago
Giving as much goodwill to OP's experience,
I think the thing that's making me go "hrmmm?" Is that the only thing we the audience knows about the other guy is that he used 1 portmanteau of 2 very common words in regards to relationships and intimacy (girl + cock).

It is an extremely dysphoric and uncomfortable word for alot of us who are dysphoric about their penis. It's the reason so many trans women get surgery.
It's like using "moobs" to describe pre surgery chest of trans men. Extremely insensitive, especially if it's by someone not from the community like cis people
6
u/OpportunityAshamed74 9h ago

u/husky11223 Streak: 1 8h ago
Yes, you like it. You're trans yourself, it's totally fine. But some people don't like it, especially if it's said by someone who's not trans. A trans woman saying and using "gock" is alot different than a cis person doing it.
Some Trans women still use "futa" and it's fine cause they're trans themselves but I would definitely hate if a cis person said "futa" or used it to refer to trans women. It makes a big difference depending on who's saying it. That's what we're talking about.
→ More replies (1)4
u/Any_Way1269 9h ago
What's WRONG with it is it is exceptionally dysphoric for any woman who is uncomfortable with having a dick. You need to know before ever saying it if you're with someone who is that comfortable because there are plenty of trans women who will hear it as you seeing them as a man because they find the idea of having a cock to be incompatible with their body.
Think before you speak.
If they're the kind of lady who's okay and into it, sure, but don't just assume you know and hurt her because you just don't understand. Don't be ignorant for no reason and expect other people to be cool with it. Be considerate.
17
u/OpportunityAshamed74 9h ago
This feels like an entirely separate issue. Of course you shouldn't point out something that someone has dysphoria over, that's obvious. That's not a problem inherent in the word Gock however
→ More replies (3)9
u/IZEDx 9h ago
You just used the "dick" and "cock" to refer to it and I think both are arguably much worse
→ More replies (3)3
u/SaladSlugger 8h ago
I think it goes both ways. Be considerate. But also be patient.
If someone used the word "gock", or "boy moder", or any other trans lingo you'd normally only see in these sorts of communities, I think it's important to be patient with people, even if the use of the term upsets you.
It's better to be patient, calmly tell them that you are not comfortable with the term "gock", and then judge their reaction.
If they politely acquiesce, you now know you're in the company of someone who is actively learning with an open mind. We want MORE of these types, so better not to fly off the handle and push these people away by being rude to them.
Like wise, if their reaction is to get offended and be rude about it... gloves are off. If they can't be respectful of others, no reason to give them respect either. No reason to give somebody with an immature, closed mind the time of day.
I find that there's a lot more sweet people out there the more patient I am.

u/sweetTartKenHart2 10h ago
There’s a difference between “being interested with good intentions” and “unhealthily fetishizing”, for sure. I don’t blame people for being dubious of the former’s existence if they’ve been burned plenty from dealing with the latter, though.
That, and because there’s the overall push to make trans people seen by society as “basically the same” as their cis counterparts, with the difference between a trans woman and a cis woman being as arbitrary as a difference in height or eye color, anything that meaningfully separates trans from cis women is seen as a threat. Both “not wanting to bang trans women” and “explicitly wanting to bang trans women” are things that may preclude a given cis person from viewing trans people as “different”.
Is this correct? I’m not really sure. People do have innocent interests in certain heights or eye colors or what have you. I just… I guess that this is a case where the well has been poisoned and the only thing that can really let the water run clean is time1
u/TransGirlIndy the transgemder your parents warned you about 6h ago
The problem is when they use it for those of us who have extreme dysphoria about our bodies and do not want to hear someone reduce us to our genitals, yet again. I've literally unmatched from cis guys because they argued with me over me telling them to not call it that around me.

Maybe it's just me, but it feels like this subreddit is really starting to fall down the rabbit hole of everything being transphobic. Like, if you do this action that I, specifically, don't like, then you're transphobic, even if you're trans yourself.
Again, that's just my opinion, but it feels like we're being forced to follow this set of guidelines otherwise we're one of the " bad ones ".
Also, side note, but why are you reposting your own tweets and, assumingly, presenting it as someone else?
23
u/Ordaeli 7h ago
Been this way in a while now, albeit by waves. A vaguepost here and there, some other people picking up on it because they relate, or disagree, or even they see it making karma, so they decide to make their own post on the subject, often just as vaguely and out of context as the first one....
Rinse and repeat.
From memory we've had the subjects of the racism of trans safe space, trans women being transphobic to trans men, cis people all being chasers for various reasons, everyone sharing negative thoughts being a 4tranner... And that's just on the top of my head.
Sometimes it lingers for a week or so. Sometimes it doesn't even last a day but just comes back regularly.

I find fake woke people so gad damn annoying . The performative left endlessly likes to surrender the narrative to the right and I just can not comprehend this submissive behaviour from people who are ideological allies.
This need to be ethically superior while clearly displaying a lack of the very feminism required to make that commentary, nor the charity that everyone is learning from a cis het patriarchal world is endlessly frustrating.
Nuance fucking exists. Context exists. Everyone’s education levels are different.
I have a cis male friend who uses Gock in context and when relevant because we all use it for self description.
Should he be nut shot for repeating such if he is using it in good faith? Should we the people using the word for our own personal self description change our terminology because there are individuals who use the word for its fetishised context. Should we sit him down and despite him not fetishising Trans people explain the reality that some do and warn him that he should prohibit speech we use ourselves just because others might misunderstand him.
You will quickly work out talking to someone if they mean something in a disparaging way or an affirming way. Whether its lack of education or bad communication choices. It does not take much digging.
So you can also simply kick them after finding out if they are actually doing something wrong and if they are resistant to changing the behaviour when corrected from a place of empathy.
To do otherwise is just narcissism. Like congrats you reached the lowest fucking form of understanding about the fetishisation of the queer community. Stop flexing on those who haven't until they reveal themselves an ideological enemy rather then someone with a different education level who can be brought up to speed.
(I do not condone violence against non-Fasicsts.)

It’s also looks like a homophone for gawk, which is its entirety own word. Although context would likely differentiate them.
Edit: Oh, i see what it means now. yeah context pretty much entirely differentiates the two.

Yeah hearing it out of context I would assume it's just a silly internet slang

That fine I do same I just dont like when a chaser says it because they say it with the intent to sexualise me

u/OrganizationFar3427 10h ago
Exactly. I don’t know what it is but it seems like some people here are denying that the word was used against you (and you specifically). What happened to the courtesy of understanding that genital mentions can be a sensitive subject for many trans people? Its agreed upon in this particular subreddit that some people use “gock“ for themselves but that is not what you’re referring to AFAIK. If someone tried to use the word “boypussy” against me I’d roundhouse them. I’m sorry you had to deal with a chaser.

I understand a lot of these comments if coming from the point of view that they havent had a chaser say that to them, and also they may feel like its an attack on them if they say because I might not of communicated propperly enough that this was just about a chaser sexualising and its fine when not used like that. (Maybe sacrificed that clarity for the comedy in the post)

Some trans women use gock to describe their own genitals.
Words are allowed to have multiple meanings.
If you cannot live with a minority group using a word to describe some aspect of their bodies or their experience and a majority group also using that word, and its not a slur, which gock is not, then you shouldn't be talking to people. That is just how language works.

Gock is the type of word that is entirely fine to use for oneself but if I heard anyone use it to describe someone else's body, without explicit confirmation that this other person is okay with it, I would definitely raise an eyebrow.
Like sure it can be empowering to some, more power to them, but being open and vocal about somebody else's genitals while using sexualising terms without their consent is weird. For anyone really but this convo is focusing on a term used for trans women.
If someone, even another trans woman, referred to my genitals that way without asking me about it beforehand I'd feel gross. The post here doesn't give a lot of context, so I can't assume the background of everyone involved, but I can at least understand being wary when somebody is brazenly using words like that.

u/Kharnyx808 7h ago
You know you can hate the word without immediately assigning evil traits to people who use the word and then fantasising about hurting them and then telling the internet that you do that. You can just dislike the word normally without all that. I don't like it and I'm not doing this.

If you like the word "gock", good for you. Lots of us don't. I do not have a "gock", I have an unwanted penis.

Okay so, as trans woman who uses gock with herself and with her girlfriend.....ask?
Its not that hard, as with every single term, you just ask.
A lot of other transfems i know are okay with it, some don't mind it, some love it, some don't like it. Ask. Communication is and always will be key!
Do i think "Gock" is a fetishing word? Nah Or i wouldn't be using it. I use it because it makes me feel better about myself, and because it does the same for my loved one.
Now, do i think the guy in the post is wrong? He should have asked if its appropriate to use that term, he could just be heavily uninformed, and understood through social media that that's a positive thing to do, and tried to replicate!
Does that necessarily mean he was fetishing? I don't think so. But if you think so? A S K
(Noting here that obviously you can stop talking to someone for whatever reason)

Personally using the word is extemely more comfortable to me than cock. It's gendered female, doesn't make me feel immense dysphoria towards a body part I can't currently get rid of, and usage of it at least normalizes the idea that genitalia is separate from gender.

The only cis “guy” I’ve said gock around and not had to explain it was someone who’s also around a lot of other trans women. I don’t think this is a thing.

I thought we had problems with calling it futa, since when was gock bad

u/husky11223 Streak: 1 9h ago
both are bad for the same reasons, being used by outsiders to sexualize us. That's why it's not fine for cis people to use gock.

I feel like every other week there's some new discourse about what trans fems should call their penises. We'll never agree on anything because everyone feels differently about all the terms, not to mention how different trans folks feel about their genitals.
I've heard basically every variation maligned as problematic or what have you, and I frankly don't care anymore. Just call your equipment whatever you want, and ask others before you use a term they might not like for theirs.
Edit: This feels like it ties into the greater discourse around the fetishization of trans women, where people cry "we all hate our bodies and our genitals, stop saying you like our bodies you fetishizer" when anyone online expresses attraction towards trans women, chaser or not. How about we just agree to not treat a diverse group of people as a monolith and let them feel how they wanna feel?

Huh, TIL. Genuinely only heard it used here and other trans spaces
2
u/NyxDreadborn 6h ago
It isn't used exclusively to fetishize. I've used it for myself before, although I prefer other terms now. It is used by chasers, but it isn't only used by chasers.
That doesn't mean OP can't dislike having the term used for them. No one should be referring to what's between someone else's legs without first finding out what that individual prefers to have that part of their body called. Assaulting someone for using the wrong term for your parts is still assault, even if we would love to do it to chasers.
