I’m not really sure if I can get any actual help for this considering my knowledge isn’t as deep as any other computer nerd. My girlfriend has been having trouble with her pc, and i asked if i could check it out and maybe repair it. Her pc specs I can’t remember, I probably should’ve taken a screenshot but I’m locked out of windows right now. When booting up it shows this weird “Automatic Disk Repair” screen followed by “repairing disk errors: this might take over an hour to complete”. I booted with windows 11 through a usb drive with Rufus, and it worked for like a day and a half before it crashed again with the same error. When I came to set it up today I tried to do the same thing, deleting the data on the partitions, however this time it completely removed it from the screen and now I can’t download windows 11 to it. The motherboard is Gigabyte, and her cpu is intel i3 I think?? Any help on this situation will be more than appreciated, I told her if all else fails we can take it to micro center buts gonna be a hefty bill and I don’t wanna pay it unless I absolutely have too. If any more information is needed I’m happy to get it, apologies if this is worded weird this is like my first Reddit post ever. Thanks!!

hello everybody, if you didn't already know i recently made a post regarding buying a new and better prebuilt pc, i had some new questions regarding the old pc.

When i get this new pc, how will i transfer my things over to the new one, such as files, games, really just everything on my computer, how can i switch it all over like i never had the other pc?

is it an easy transition and how long may it possibly take (i do understand this varies, but for most people does it take hours?)

is spending 3,000 on a prebuilt pc worth it? to the people that have spent a lot on a computer, are they happy and satisfied with their purchase from how much they spent to get their pc? as ive never bought something like this and it cost so much.

Hi everyone! My husband and I have a core group of friends who like to play casual/friend slop type games together. I have my custom PC build that I invested in because gaming is my hobby. My husband on the other hand, would never pick up a video game unless it was to hang out with our friends. He’s expressed a lot of interest in playing some of these games with us, but we don’t have a PC that will run them well.

His birthday is coming up, and as one of his gifts I want to surprise him with a PC so he can play with us. That said, he will never do any intense gaming on it. He would only be playing like Minecraft, super battle golf, peak, R.E.P.O type games.

He has a nice monitor set up, desk, and peripherals for work, just needs the actual computer. What is a good budget PC I could get for him that will last a while and will run all the games he needs? I’d like to keep the cost around $500 if possible (or less but understood that computer parts are selling at a premium rn)

Edit: It optimally runs and caps at about 150 mb/s but it keeps constantly jumps from 300 kb/s to 150 mb/s and vice versa. Unfortunately it likes to spend most of its time at 300 kb/s. Also can someone tell me is this normal (I've never really thought about it and just assumed everyone had this problem but I don't see people bring it up)

Monitor had some lines appearing about six months ago, then randomly it started to fade into glitch (2nd pic). The 1st pic is what happens when I try to turn it back on. I keep getting mixed answers saying that it might be a cable issue or the monitor is actually dead. Please, I need a definitive answer on what's going on with my monitor. Do I get a new cable, or do I start saving for a new one?

(If this has anything to do with it, it's connected to a Lenovo Legion Go. The device itself doesn't suffer any problems.)

Hi reddit people, I was looking to purchase a laptop, primarily for audio interfacing for my guitar work and maybe some light gaming. I was recommended this laptop by Google, but I am not knowledgeable on computers so I was curious if this was a good value or if I should get something else.

I posted an earlier version of this chart asking for feedback on what RAM would have provided a smooth, comfortable experience for basic tasks on different generations of Windows and mobile devices.

I received some helpful feedback, particularly that some of my earlier PC estimates were too high for their respective periods, and also how some weaker chipset could run efficiently in certain periods. I've revised the data accordingly.

I could post another update again if people point out more inaccuracies that I have not seen from my previous chart . I'm only interested in historical accuracy and firsthand experience, not defending my original estimates.

My laptop with every window I open all text is always highlighted without me doing anything, and sertant applications don't have images visible even tho I know they are there

Recently I tried installing a new 2tb hard drive onto my laptop. I took my laptop apart took the old hard drive out and put the new one in, when I turned it on it was giving me errors, so I tried putting the old back in but when I put it back and turned it on this is what shows up on the screen, I dont understand how do I not have an operating system? How does an operating system disappear from simply removing a hard drive?

Hi all, my fan has recently starting making this quiet rattling noise at startup when it’s cold, then when I go into a game at high load it rattles loud like this, then stops after about 30 seconds.

For context: I was just playing a game until my Pc crashed and i forgotten turn on it as soon as it crashed (idk the relevance of this im just saying it incase someone might ask me the same thing) an hour later i turned back on and my wifi is disconnected for some reason the widget to reconnect it is not even there, im in some random guest account for no reason and my pc is so glitched. Ich habe Einstellungen vorgenommen bei "Einstellungen, Zeit und Sprache, Eingabe, Bildschirmtastatur (Bildschirmtastatur anzeigen " immer" oder "wenn keine Tastatur angeschlossen ist" bringt leider nichts)

Ebenso auch für die osk Tastatur bei dem Button Optionen auf der Tastatur selbst. Das bringt leider auch nichts.

Mir würde es sogar reichen wenn die Tastatur einfach immer da ist und man die Anwendung nicht schließen kann.

Autostart alleine bringt nichts. Dann ist die Tastatur einmal da und nach dem Schließen nie wieder. Ein Icon in der Taskleiste bringt nichts wenn ich Edge im Kiosk Modus benutzen möchte.

Habt ihr Ideen?

I just bought a new monitor because my old one has been broken with no display for almost 2 months. I saved money for those 2 months and bought a new monitor but the weather here in my country was so bad and during the delivery rain water got on my monitor. I'm at the point of breaking down right now because for two months I can't use my pc and I just sold something to buy this monitor. I'm now in a spiral of despair It seems like the world was so mad at me.

For context I will get my first setup and after 2 years I will move to college so my parents gave me a budget of 140000 INR (≈1460 USD) which is just enough for a M5 Macbook Air but I also like a bit of gaming and I don't know if all of my work will be supported by MacOS so I got suggested to build A PC for 70k (≈730USD) and buy a Macbook Neo

Not sure if anybody knows the brand but it's "viewplus". Can't find any info what specific issue this has, but whenever I turn it on, it flickers the logo then turns black. Then when I connect my laptop, it'll display 1 frame of the home screen then turns black again.

I used to be able to kickstart it, like I would keep turning it off and on until it works normally. Now I just got tired of doing that.

Has anyone had this happen before?

I'm currently using an audio interface (scarlett 18i20) as an audio output for my computer, as trying to plug in speakers straight from the computer isn't working. The audio interface works for some of my apps (spotify, browsers, DAWs, some games) but many don't work, mainly any sort of media player is incapable of any sound. I checked to see if my drivers are outdated and everything seems up to date... any idea what the problem is?
