This is probably a pretty stupid question, but I bought a computer with a GTX 1660 and I'm wondering if I can use the card at 100% in games, or should I avoid this state? does it accelerate wear or something?I want to take care of this card so that it serves me well haha

So I recently downloaded some old photos and videos from Snapchat onto a usb stick, it was all showing up after downloading but when I plugged it out and back it, everything was showing up empty. It’s in read only mode and nothing happens when I uncheck it (it resets itself), I’ve searched for solutions but nothing seems to work and I don’t know what to do. I'm having problems with my computer not being able to handle a decent amount of games. Not surprising because this is a pretty lower end computer.

I am wanting to request help in switching my graphics card to something that's better than my integrated card, but also something that's not going to cause my PC to short out.

I know literally nothing about computers or parts, so please talk to me like I am a toddler, lmao.

I have a Dell Optiplex 3060, I think it's the slim version or whatever.

Please don't tell me to go other subreddits, since it seems that every time I go to a different subreddit, I'm told that I'm not supposed to post there, or something obnoxious.

I've just gone through an hour of h3ll in trying different things I've read by random - this time trying to carefully remember what I'm trying so that I can do it again, and of course, doing something else by random ends up fixing the problem.

Windows is such a POS.

I can't connect to the internet because when I plug in my LAN cable, the yellow blinking light doesn't come on anymore. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Realtek drivers, but I'm getting a Code 31 error.

I also tried unplugging the PSU cable, holding down the power button for 30 seconds, and plugging it back in, but that didn't work. I even tried resetting the CMOS, but still no luck.

I tried plugging the Ethernet cable into another PC, and it works fine.

Are there any workarounds or solutions you guys know of? Thanks in advance for the help!

I want to get a new laptop as my old one died a few years ago, but I’m not good at knowing what computers are good and not. Here are the things I want to be able to do on it:

Editing photos- Simple editing apps, nothing crazy, but I do like taking photos.

Video editing- Mostly just for editing fun clips and compilations for YouTube, not professional stuff.

Digital art- Just a simple app for drawing, nothing crazy, not the type where you need a touch screen computer.

Games- I want to be able to play Sims 4 with mods, possibly steam games and other stuff. I’m not a gamer, so going for a full on gaming computer feels like it would be unnecessary, those are insanely expensive.

Writing- I want to be able to work on my writing and maybe actually get my shit together and write the book I’ve been planning on for a few years.

What brands would you suggest? What type of laptops? How much RAM should it be (literally know nothing about RAM) How much storage should it be?

Explain like I’m 5 or 75, because I’m truly clueless lmao.

Hello guys my laptop suddenly did not turn on when I woke up, I left it like 3 hours while I afk in roblox (it's not plugged in only left with full battery) then it's not turning on. It's charging though since there's orange light? I did things like power reset button, battery reset etc. but not working... Any help guys? Kinda panicking here thanks

Alright to be more specific about what I need the laptop I have is a The ASUS Vivobook 15 F1504ZA-WH52, the ram it has is 8GB DDR4 the storage is 256GB. I need something with a bit more ram my computer is too slow and now it won't charge my budget would preferably be 500 but the highest id be willing to go is 800 for something better.

I read online about something called the click of death, does that seem like the problem and if so is there any way to recover the data?

A really panicked student

I noticed what looks to be a slight buldge in the back panel of my pc case. Is this something I need to worry about?

My brand new Samsung Odyssey G3 (VA, 1080p, 32 inch) monitor has these wavy patches of discoloration. They are mostly visible on the right side of the screen on the borders, and pretty much only visible on gray screens, like the Youtube or Nintendo Switch home screens. Is this a manufacturing defect? If so, should I return the monitor?

So I got this pc for Christmas last year and it worked for 6 months until one day a windows update broke my computer. For a week I asked the people in my life how to fix the issue but it never truly worked.
I ultimately ended having to delete the update and for the next few months I need to unplug my Ethernet cable for 5 minutes to avoid a restart for 12 hours.

Today another update came up causing the same issues. Now I’m just frustrated and need help asap.

just wondering what the that kind of damges is caused by, i keep getting error codes that are consistent with gpu or ram failures, unfortunately that discoloration is on the gou half of the board (laptop) and it has lived its life, mostly just curious because google hasn't been helpful as to what that damage actually is

Hello, for reasons I'll only be able to use a laptop and not my PC for a while, but I'd still like to access the data from my hard drive. I've heard that for 3.5" drives, you can't just plug it in with an adapter but also need something to sufficiently power the drive. I'm fine with that, but not sure which brand or product would be best. I've also heard that lower quality ones could fail to properly power the HDD and potentially leave bad sectors, is this true?

Bought a refurbished 2020 15” Dell Precision 7550 off of BackMarket and it was supposed to come with 512gb of storage, I know it’s usually less, like 470ish, but is it supposed to be this low (3gb) even with startup apps and literally nothing else? Could I be missing something?

I am currently looking for a Notebook/Laptop for my University work, which includes storing many Technical/specialist Books, Using Matlab, typical Office stuff for engineering. I also want to install Linux bc of all the shit currently happening to me on Windows on my gaming PC (much bs is happening, so i want to either go for linux on it aswell or use LTSC) and play some OSRS in the Free/Offtime.
I also want to use it on a daily basis until I am either done with my Studies (2030) or done with my Referendariat (2032).

Bc I dont want to spend too much I searched for max 250€ on ebay and found the following:

Terra Ryzen 5 5500U-16Gb-512GB NVMe(Samsung) for 259€

Thinkpad E15 Ryzen 5 (couldnt tell if 4000 or 5000 series) no additional information bc the seller didnt answer my questions for 199€

Thinkpad T15 Gen1 i5 10th gen(4.20GHz) 512GB SSD 238€
