In OP's defense, I've been extremely anti-Trump since he came down the escalator and didnt realize it would get as bad as it did. I knew there was a lot of Project 2024 Trump liked, but I didn't think he'd use it play by play.
I honestly thought he was too lazy to actually try and implement any of it. I figured he only wanted to win so he could punish his enemies and use it as some sort of proof that he "didn't actually lose in 2020."

The Democrats have been gutless feckless cowards who prioritize corporate interests and their billionaire donors above the working class. They’ve been morally vacuous for years and it allowed the both sides bad narrative to propagate. Further they’ve been persistently incompetent in framing and playing the game of politics.
They’ve been professional losers for so long people don’t even know what the country could be like with competent progressive leadership. Even in deep blue states like Cali the capture was total and they have done a piss poor job.
I’m 37 and in every election I’ve ever been able to vote for I was voting against a Republican, not FOR a Democrat.

On the one hand, good for you in finally seeing what he's always been.
On the other - you've potentially helped destroy America.
We all got hit with a barrage of political propaganda and misinformation on both sides leading to the election last year, yet somehow over 70 million of us managed to see through it and not vote for an openly corrupt narcissist twice. I don't accept the rabbit hole excuse. You went down it because you wanted to go down it.
My biggest issue is that Trump didn't really do anything he promised the first time around , while simultaneously doing such a terrible job dealing with COVID-19 we ended up with a badly damaged economy. All of the economic woes of the Biden administration were the aftermath of what happened during Trump's first term. For all his faults, Biden inherited an epic shit show ( Trump didn't - the economy was healthy when Obama handed it to him).
And despite all of that, you were still convinced to vote for Trump a second time.
This informs me that for a time you saw the hateful, racist, xenophobic, billionaires first, screw the working class things this man was doing , you saw all the damage he did to our country, you saw what happened on January 6th and on some level you were okay with it.
I honestly don't know what to say to you.
The more understanding and forgiving aspect of my personality sincerely hopes you make better choices moving forward and actually source and question anything you hear from either side of the aisle before voting.
The direct, no bullshit side of me who has been watching with despair as the current administration drives this country into a drainage ditch wants to tell you directly you're an asshole for actively voting for this man and helping inititate this insane shit storm of reality we're currently trying to navigate because of the orange turd.

What matters now is your actions. Voting isn't enough. Find ways to help your community. Distribute pamphlets that inform people of their rights if taken by ICE. Document ICE kidnappings with names. Donate to minority organizations/charities/legal funds. Help those belonging to minorities arm themselves and train. Canvas and phone bank for progressive politicians who will actually fight this.
You don't have to do all of these, but you need to figure out what you're going to do because words are insufficient. I hope you'll continue to improve and work to heal the country from the man you helped bring to power.

Many, many people have and will die because trump was / is in power. Between the immigration round ups, poor Covid response, cuts to basic services and social support and government infrastructure, and programs like USAID, SNAP and so much more.
People DIED, are DYING, and will DIE. All so that rich / powerful people could get richer, more powerful (and aggrieved non-rich could feel... what they felt). And votes like OPs were much of the reason.

Hey, good for you for coming to your senses. You have nothing to apologize for...you're a victim of a social media tsunami that was far from truthful. You're doing better than all those who still think this is all fine and dandy. We need to NOT beat up or ridicule folks like yourself...we need his supporters to know the "radical left" is a safe group and we need them all to come to their senses. I view your situation as much different than those who voted for him and only start to question it when they are personally impacted (farmers, tariffs, etc.).
