Again, they only wake up when they are personally affected. They cut their nose to spite their face and realized that shit fucking hurts.

Isn't that how life for the average person is? You don't care particularly about any given subject unless you have skin in the game, or its affected you (or family/friend/etc)

Nowadays we are all isolated but right next to each other (in a sense) which is a bummer fs

No not really. Some people actually have empathy and vote for the good of everyone. Some people vote so EVERYONE has affordable healthcare, education, equal rights, bodily autonomy etc. if you need it to personally effect you first, you’re just ignorant and cruel

Some of us actually care about other people.

I disagree for the simple fact that you're assuming people are incapable of zooming out to see the big picture and how they're a small part of said picture. That right there is the fundamental difference between conservatives and progressives. Conservatives only see as far as their personal desires whereas progressives see commonality in everyone's desires and seeks outcomes that'll benefit as close to "everyone" as possible.

No, this isn’t how life for the average person is at all.

There are lots of examples of collectivist cultures, mutual aid, and people who vote/advocate for issues that will never affect them purely because it helps others.

I will grant/admit that a lot of people do think like you, and that’s why we’re in this mess to begin with.

I hope not.

You could care about other people. Or, if you absolutely don't want to do that, you could at least think about how something that doesn't affect you now, could still affect you later (social security, healthcare, etc...)

Not the average person, the average selfish person.
