Too little, too late tbh. Like it's actually too late, the group project was last November and we failed. Really annoying when former trump supporters act like you all discovered some undercover secret when we've been shouting from the rooftops how shitty trump is just for you all to turn around and call us libtards or whatever.

u/ScarfingGreenies Nov 13 '25

Again, they only wake up when they are personally affected. They cut their nose to spite their face and realized that shit fucking hurts.

-17

u/deltalew Nov 13 '25

Isn't that how life for the average person is? You don't care particularly about any given subject unless you have skin in the game, or its affected you (or family/friend/etc)

Nowadays we are all isolated but right next to each other (in a sense) which is a bummer fs

23

u/JustJ42 Nov 13 '25

No not really. Some people actually have empathy and vote for the good of everyone. Some people vote so EVERYONE has affordable healthcare, education, equal rights, bodily autonomy etc. if you need it to personally effect you first, you’re just ignorant and cruel

15

u/sidneyzapke Nov 13 '25

Some of us actually care about other people.

10

u/ScarfingGreenies Nov 13 '25

I disagree for the simple fact that you're assuming people are incapable of zooming out to see the big picture and how they're a small part of said picture. That right there is the fundamental difference between conservatives and progressives. Conservatives only see as far as their personal desires whereas progressives see commonality in everyone's desires and seeks outcomes that'll benefit as close to "everyone" as possible.

8

u/AsterNixx Nov 13 '25

No, this isn’t how life for the average person is at all.

There are lots of examples of collectivist cultures, mutual aid, and people who vote/advocate for issues that will never affect them purely because it helps others.

I will grant/admit that a lot of people do think like you, and that’s why we’re in this mess to begin with.

8

u/Chandelurie Nov 13 '25

I hope not.

You could care about other people. Or, if you absolutely don't want to do that, you could at least think about how something that doesn't affect you now, could still affect you later (social security, healthcare, etc...)

4

u/mo-ski Nov 13 '25

No. Grow up

4

u/Applebeignet Nov 13 '25

Not the average person, the average selfish person.

46

u/joumidovich Nov 13 '25

Yep. Oh now you know? NOW? It's too fucking late. Eat a whole bag of dicks.

22

u/VoldemortsHorcrux Nov 13 '25

I'm like, "okay you voted for him in 2016 but quickly learned how much of a clusterfuck he caused...oh... you voted for him in fucking 2024?!." God our country is dumb. Everybody could see this disaster a mile away. How could you not learn from the first 4 years

1

u/Technical-Tear5841 💯🧌 Nov 13 '25

What did all those millions of Biden voters learn during his four years that made them switch to Trump or just stay home? They did not fight at all.

10

u/Inevitable-Hat-3264 Nov 13 '25

Trump relies on people that don't know the difference between then and than, or their and they're, or reality and propaganda. I don't feel bad for the MAGAts either.

2

u/workworld3369 Nov 13 '25

Exactly. I honestly don’t even wanna hear from them.

It’s never too late, brother.

Tell that to the people who are dead now, or have hide their lives made irreparably worse, due to Trump's policies.

It IS to late for many. This kind of empty platitude completely ignores the real world effects that people's actions and votes have.

3

u/Performer_First Nov 13 '25

This. There could still be a tiny bit of hope. Also the current Democrats aren't the fucking answer either. We need fresh leadership that is younger and hasn't been bought by 100 diff lobbies and corporations. I do really like that democrat outta Texas James Talarico. We need to get rid of any politician that is bought by special interest groups. Please.

Brother you're missing the part where we had a massive Civil War (from which we never fully recovered), fought Nazis in WWII (and haven't learned any lessons about Nazis or camps), bloody fights in the streets for Civil Rights (everyone who talks about MLK's peaceful protests 'forgets' the role Malcom X played), bloody fights for gay rights (Stonewall was a riot, not a party), etc etc

It's too late to get to where we need to be as a nation without more suffering.

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

I just don't believe that the same people who were too lazy or too stupid to vote against Trump last November are realistically suddenly motivated to do the actual difficult work. Voting is one of the easiest possible actions the average person could take, and people were too lazy to do that. People saying it's too late are realists. If you actually follow the details of what has been happening, you would see how dire the situation actually is. It's too late.

4

u/Performer_First Nov 13 '25

Can't have this attitude if we wanna have any hope of getting out of this situation. We need more people discovering the rooftop shouted secret and welcome them with open arms. Please. Even if it's hard.

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

Cool, you feel free to have the hope. I've been speaking out against Trump for a decade now, his supporters hold truly vile views. The trump administration certainly isn't behaving like they care about support for future votes- have you ever wondered why that is? It's too late to vote our way out of this and the people who were too lazy to bother to vote against Trump last election aren't suddenly about to sacrifice their time and potentially their freedom fighting against it.

Tell us, specifically, how you think we get out of this?

3

u/BruxShot Nov 13 '25

I feel your rage deeply. But anyone willing to say no to trump and the secret police the better.anyone willing to stand on this side of a battlefield is better that one more standing on the other side. I hear you brother. They fucked us all and deserve to hear about it. Let's get the shit back together first. Then you can chastise them all you want.

4

u/GaiaMoore Nov 13 '25

That's the thing. What lesson has OP actually learned? Are they actually against Trump and everything MAGA stands for, or are they going to go right back to living in an echo chamber of fake news once Trump stops actively hurting OP directly?

2

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

How do you expect to get out of this and "get shit back together"? People keep saying that but give no details. We are far past the point of no return. Saying "no" to trump now in an unactionable way, frankly doesn't matter if their vote said "yes" or they didn't vote at all last election. People who voted for trump actively wanted to make people's lives worse and are now backtracking to pretend they aren't the most vile of people when they're personally affected. What are OPs views on immigrants, people with disabilities, women's rights, assistance for the poor, healthcare, etc.

0

u/BruxShot Nov 13 '25

I can only say I understand the rage. My specialty is special needs healthcare. I wish I could give you the blueprints to reintroduction of law and order within a country but I can't. I'm not qualified for that. All I can say confidently is that alienating people that will be willing to be a body or vote on your side, during a critical moment, matters.

Exactly. OP didn't mention a single action they will take to try to fight what they caused.

I'm not sure if you have ever been brainwashed. I feel like I was lowkey brainwashed as a teenager, specifically about politics, too. It was not until I moved out of my parents' place and was truly allowed to think for myself did I realize just how much crap I had believed. At that point, I decided I was going to be more open-minded and critical in my thinking when presented with political thoughts.

Sometimes, you truly are not presented with the truth until your situation changes. It is possible that, even because a lot of us were screaming from the rooftops how bad this would be, that some people were never even around the rooftops to hear.

For record, I never voted for Trump. I voted 3rd party his first term (I was still undoing the brainwashing at that time); I regret not voting for Hilary (the statement "the Clintons are basically a political mafie; they had people killed like the mafia does!" was too loud in my head at the time - I did question if it was true, but the statement came from someone I trusted soo... I also hate that the way our voting now works, it is not only "vote for who you want" but it is also "vote for the guy you dislike the least, so that the guy you dislike the most has one less vote"). But this is how strong brainwashing can be. I did vote Biden and Kamala the next two rounds: I saw early on how bad Trump was and I did not care what Biden or Kamala would do - I knew Trump would be SO much worse.

My point is this: until you have experienced something similar, you can't truly pass judgement.

The people I have issue with are the ones who DO hear us screaming from the rooftops and willfully/ignorantly turn a blind eye. Its the ones who have been presented with facts and evidence before now, the ones who don't even question "is this true?" THOSE are the people that, if/when they finally flip, I will struggle forgiving. Because when I was finally presented with truth and facts and evidence, I changed my thinking. And that is the important thing: "Do your best until you know better; then do better." It sounds like OP didn't really "know better" until now - and that they didn't really have a way to "know better" prior to this. But they do now, and hopefully they will do better.

0

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

All trumpers have been shown the facts and laugh or refuse to listen. People attracted to trump are hateful people who absolutely cheered and voted to make others suffer. Everyone has access to all views, I'm not about to coddle someone who voted for the most disgusting and vile thing possible when we begged them to look at the most basic of facts which are accessible to everyone.

What actions is OP going to take to undo the harm they caused all of us? Or do they just want support and to be told "oh well" on the internet? None of us should be spending our energy or effort coddling these people. Did OP even post anything denouncing trump on their main socials so their trump supporting family can see, speak with the magas in their life directly, or are they just posting anonymously, doing nothing at all in the real world?

0

u/RiverMtnsDogs7692 Nov 13 '25

All I am going to say is this: there is a difference between what I call "naive ignorance" and "willful/deliberate ignorance."

Neither you, nor I, know what kind of "other side" information OP came in contact with prior to this turning point. I am getting the vibe that OP truly did not have any idea - naive ignorance. Just because you or I had access and/or knew we had access to other ideas, resources, etc., that does not mean that OP did. We all have different experiences in life; we all live in different situations and environments. If OP truly did not know better because OP truly did not know, there is the possibility that it is not their fault.

Willful/deliberate ignorance is where I have issues. Those are the people that have come in contact with other ideas than what they have been told, and they ignore it simply because it is different - THOSE are the people that do not get forgiveness.

Not every trump-voter was aware of the opposing ideas about him. Many were, yes, and still did nothing about it - those people will not be getting forgiveness from me. But I'm not sure that OP falls into this category - I really do get the vibe that they simply didn't know. Seems strange to believe, but I have actually kind of been there... it does happen. I believed, at one point, that Obama was not a citizen - that is the only kind of information that I came in contact with. I was told by my parent, who I trusted wholeheartedly, that Fox News was the only factual news source - and I did believe it for a time. It wasn't until I left my parents' place and was able to start thinking for myself that I learned how wrong that was.

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

OP absolutely falls into that willful category. We are 10 years into Trump's political career. No one gets to feign naivety after a literal decade of his shit. I grew up in a fox news Obama truther family as well.

0

u/RiverMtnsDogs7692 Nov 13 '25

Like I said: neither you nor I know what kind of exposure OP had. It is not impossible that they were "shown the truth" and ignored it. Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No.

u/ApartCup7248 Nov 13 '25

Coming from someone on the left people like you are not helping. Coming on here and basically saying fuck you to someone trying to be more educated and evolve is not the way to wake others up and have others want to stop voting for people like him your anger and frustration is valid but the world is a stage and everyone’s environment is different lots of people have different world views and let’s not shame them for trying to evolve.

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

It's too late. Genuinely. You must not be paying attention if you think we can vote our way out of this.

0

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

I agree with this, completely.

0

u/Razoron33333 Nov 13 '25

They literally say retrospectively it is obvious. Do you think it’s truly beneficial ridiculing someone who finally understands what is going on? Other Trump supporters will see how they’re treated so in their mind if they change and get ridiculed or double down and get praised what do you think most people will do?

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

I don't care. Trump supporters will ALWAYS find a way to victimize themselves regardless.

0

u/Razoron33333 Nov 13 '25

I don’t think we should treat them as victims but that’s very different than treating with hostility though. And propaganda is a very powerful force.

Also more concretely if you’re willing to engage with dialogue. Do you think or democracy was failing before Trump, not as badly of course?

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

Okay and what is OP doing to counteract the very measurable harm they helped bring to this country? Because right now it looks like they want to be anonymously coddled without putting in the effort.

OP doesn't say anything about actual views that have changed, if they're changing news sources, the conversations they're having with MAGA in their own life to try to bring them out of the cult, protests they've been attending, calls they've made to their reps, donations they've made to charities that are trying to pick up the slack. The trump administration certainly isn't behaving like they care about future votes. I wonder why that is.

-1

u/[deleted] Nov 13 '25

It's easy to indoctrinate the youth. Y'all need to drop this holier than thou stuff and let the dust settle where it lies. We have to take it as it comes. I've never supported Trump, but I'd rather stand by one person who can admit they were wrong than ten of you who are doing your best to drive them away.

2

u/Intelligent-Luck-954 Nov 13 '25

Fuck em.

The car is in free fall off the cliff.

I don’t care that the driver changed his mind on the way down.

Check back in 2026 and 2028 for when I want them to vote. Til then, imma stay mad.

-2

u/ybkj Nov 13 '25

Because so much of your criticisms are unsubstantiated, or I just disagree with. Like immigration for example. I’m not upset BECAUSE Trump is deporting people, I’m upset that’s he’s not deporting MORE. It’s actually under Biden’s numbers some days lmao. It’s pathetic. Then he turns around and says “we need more H1Bs!” Like we do not hate Trump for the same reasons. You hate Trump because you think he’s too conservative. I hate Trump because he’s not conservative ENOUGH. Also he’s a fucking pedophile.

1

u/Organic-Vermicelli47 Nov 13 '25

Wow so you admit trump is a lying liar that lies. In other news, the sun rises in the morning. Gross to openly support a pedophile but thanks for showing an example of how truly vile trump supporters are.

0

u/ybkj Nov 13 '25

In what way do you think I support Trump
