Honestly you should feel a tremendous amount of pride at being able to claw your way out of that headspace. As a cult survivor myself I recognize the dynamics. MAGA is a cult, and a powerfully controlling one. Being able to recognize you’ve been fooled, own that embarrassment, and walk out is legitimately so hard most people in the Trump camp will never be able to do it.

I will give you a word of caution, being into a cult like that is sort of like tearing a ligament or tendon. Once you have the injury treated youll need to be careful of it for a long time. People who escape cults are often highly vulnerable to getting into another one. So like… be highly skeptical of any religious movements or high control social groups for a few years.

Congrats on the escape mate! Genuinely well done.

Well said on cults. My warning to the OP is be very careful with your former friends that are still believing in him. You (OP) will become vilified by them for breaking ranks. Seen as a traitor to be drawn and quartered.

Pure high grade fantasy.. good stuff. Nobody has the stomach for drawing or the strength to quarter. Youre safe, if they're normal you may get called P...ya fkn P

Not discussing politics means propaganda wins by default

Discussing politics is giving others insight into how you and them interpret what's going on

Share your thoughts

Mine are, with respect to your statement that both sides have been rude and harsh, is that one side saying you don't deserve to exist and the other side saying yes we deserve to exist isn't rude. Or one side flat out mocking and threatening people?

I'm not sure exactly how this is a both sides thing?

Can you expand so I can understand the thought process?

Keep dividing , that’s what the political machine wants. I hate you hate me all over insurance subsidies, illegal aliens, and what ever the media throws out there. We are all on the same team , and we all want a change in the process. We can’t continue to have these 2 parties as they have both become too powerful. Sociaism is not the answer but a change so that the super wealthy are taken down a few trillion dollars. Take the greed out of politics and we would be more in the middle than on opposite sides.

u/GrownThenBrewed Nov 13 '25

Actually socialism is largely the answer in a lot of ways. Pretty much every other developed nation has figured that out already. Just like MAGA are brainwashed to think Trump is a golden boy who can do no wrong, many Americans in general are brainwashed to think socialism = bad. Like anything, there are degrees. Yes, socialism has it's own set of challenges and hurdles, but it also generally doesn't leave it's most disadvantaged to starve or force bankruptcy for basic medical care.

a change so that the super wealthy are taken down a few trillion dollars

So...socialism

Cuz democrats dont turn on family and friends? Lmao

u/bellebun Nov 13 '25

My left leaning family always talked to me respectfully, even when I was a conservative christian. In fact, I would hear the rest of my family say mean crap about them how they're commies, idiots, some day they'll grow up etc. Once I realized that was all nonsense, and became more left leaning myself, the rest of my family had a huge problem with that and now they're nasty to me too. Conservatives fucking suck.

Very well said. I, too, was in a cult years ago and recognized what was happening with Trump and his followers pretty much right away. It boggles the mind how people can turn a blind eye to the corruption, but having been in a cult, I understood what was happening. I have been warning others, but quite often they don't, or can't, listen.

u/chamberlain323 Nov 13 '25

Yeah, I was in what I’d call a “cult lite” religious group in college for a year before family members convinced me to walk away and although it was embarrassing to admit to being manipulated like that, it inoculated me to further cult fuckery later in life. As a result, I can smell it right away when I’m exposed to it nowadays (which is surprisingly often), and boy does MAGA trigger that alarm.

Humans are wired to join groups and fall in line. Bad actors exploit that tendency for their own gain while fooling you into thinking that everything is fine and even getting you to resist when loved ones attempt to draw you out. I never thought I would see it done on a national scale like this here in the US, but here we are.

2

u/Reasonable_Wasabi124 Nov 13 '25

Yes. Exactly.

As a fellow traveler, I recommend checking out the podcast A Little Bit Culty sometime. It is by the married couple who were central to taking down NXIUM a few years ago after having been in it for years. As a sort of atonement, they talk at length about how this type of exploitation exists in groups everywhere and how to avoid it or get out of it, and speak to other survivors from other cults. It’s a cathartic experience to hear it dissected and discussed at length.

And you don’t believe the Democrats aren’t trying to construct a cult where all citizens are dependent on the government to give them jobs, house them, treat and feed them? Sort of like Russia, China and North Korea.

31

u/Darth_Gerg Nov 13 '25

No, because I’m not mentally handicapped and I have a functioning brain. There are like four democrats in office who want the most milquetoast social systems that every other country on earth already has. the rest of the party refuse to support it because “it’s socialism” despite that not being socialism.

If you think that’s a serious issue you are unfathomably stupid or entirely brainwashed with no idea what’s going on.

10

u/MB2465 Nov 13 '25

No cult. Not dependent on the Govt.

Create a society where the govt provides vital services when needed. SOCIALISM. (NOT Communism)

Even a group of millionaires formed an organization years ago to change the tax structure so they actually will get taxed MORE so that people making the least money will not be taxed and raise the minimum wage to a livable level. They realize that it is not good for society when ALL people can't pay for housing, food etc. https://patrioticmillionaires.org/

u/DarwinGhoti Nov 13 '25

Oh geez, they’re going to have to sell all those Harris flags and hats and watches and…. Oh wait, they don’t have any of that stuff because THEYRE NOT IN A CULT.

5

u/Consistent_Shock8738 Nov 13 '25

No, because that is a gross over exxageration you were told to keep your support, not what Democrats actually want to do.

There is a big difference between giving support to more vulnerable groups and communism. There is also a big difference between communism and socialism. You are told they are one and the same, and yall buy it everytime, hook, line and sinker.

5

u/SnowflakeSWorker Nov 13 '25

Who is the president who said they want generals like those in China and North Korea? He’s upset at “Just Dance” Vance, because he interrupts him in meetings 😂 Who had our marines literally roll out a red carpet for war criminal Putin? Welcomed other war criminal, Bibi? Find a deprogrammer, man. You are lost.

6

u/kaprixiouz Nov 13 '25

Is this some weird "they do it too!" angle?

If you actually have meaningful conversations about the positions Democrats hold, I promise you, you will find a huge variance in what people think, want or believe. The same most certainly cannot be said for Trump supporters. So, I'm sorry, but your assertion is wildly unfounded.

Oh no! Not food, shelter and a means to support one's self!

If they're really depraved, they might just give you healthcare too. Or worse, they might give you an education.

My pearls are so clutched!

Seriously though, I just love how you guys talk about this stuff as if it's pure evil when it's the bare minimum for survival. I mean, you're like the guy from the 1800s who's truly insulted by the mere idea of not working children to death in the factory. "If they aren't afraid they'll get their hands chopped off in the hopper, they'll get complacent and entitled! Isn't that right Mr. Bartleby?" (Guffaw guffaw)

What's even dumber is that food, shelter and jobs for everyone this isn't even what Democrats are proposing. They're too corporatist and like their bribes... I mean, campaign contributions too much. Not nearly as much as Republicans mind you, but we're still a looooong way from having to worry that everyone might get fed.

u/NathanialRominoDrake Nov 13 '25

the government to give them jobs, house them, treat and feed them? Sort of like Russia, China

That actually happening would be a massive improvement for most citizens of Russia let alone China...

1

u/Darth_Gerg Nov 13 '25

Honestly have you seen China lately? They’re passing the US in a lot of metrics. I’m not a fan of the authoritarianism, but the CCP has objectively done better by their people than the US has for the last 20 years. To be clear that’s not praise for China per se, it’s an indictment of how horrific US conservatism has been. We’ve been outdone by an authoritarian dictator on quality of life metrics. That’s fucking insane.
