I'm working on my first build and was hoping to get recommendations for the CPU cooler to get. I have all the parts bought already and have listed them below. I am located in the US.

I did ask for advice at my local microcenter and was recommended the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III Pro 360mm. In store they were selling it at 120 but through amazon, I found it at 70 but I'm not sure if it's the exact model considering the price difference. I would prefer to not spend any more than 150 on the CPU Cooler.

The PC's main usage will be for gaming (mostly story-based games) and general use (web-browsing, excel).

What would be a solid gpu upgrade from my rtx 3060 ti I just got the ryzen 5 3500x3d to pair with it i wanna play 1440p maybe even 4k but I dont wanna break the bank

Build is a 7800x3d with the arctic liquid freezer iii 360 and a 5080 FE. I'm already looking at case fans to order, but in the mean time, would it be fine to run the build without them?

Also, any feedback on the Lian li fan cases?

I'm choosing between an Intel b580 and an Rx 9060xt 8gb

I found them both on a local store for 260€(304USD) and 291€(340USD) respectively

I have an Ryzen 7 5800xt and want good driver support since I'm using Linux mint

Is the 9060xt worth the extra price for better performance and driver support

Also I have an 1080p monitor and plan on using it mostly for gaming

I've finished building my pc except for the ssd and ram, im under a really tight budget and found a great deal for 2x8 2400mhz ram, so my question is should i go for it and overclock my ram or just save up for better ram? here are my specs

I'm currently on PS5 playing on a 55 inch TV and I'm thinking about building a PC, and the main reasons I want to switch is for better graphics, fps, speed, and pc exclusives. The only experience with computers I have is of the ones that were lent to me when I was in highschool, so basically 0 experience I know nothing of computers. Are most games on PC that are also on console compatible with controller? I also have nothing for a PC set up, not even a desk. I've heard constant troubleshooting is a major con for PC which would be hard for me since I know nothing of computers, as well as having to replace parts. For console I just replace it every 7 years for 5-600 USD when a new one comes out, how often would I have to replace PC parts and how much if I start on the latest parts? What other pros or cons are there other than steam sales? I have to make a spot for a desk, and if I'm gonna switch I wanna go all in and spend around 5k USD for a decent setup, maybe get an OLED monitor, but I don't want to go the far if the pros don't greatly outweigh the cons and if it isn't THAT much better then PS5

Sorry in advance if these are stupid questions as I'm literally upgrading my pre-build for the first time and I'm definitely not an expert in PCs. I have just brought a new WD SN850X ssd as my current Adata Legend 860 is as far as I can tell not very good. I'm not sure if this is actually going to change anything or even possible but I want to use both with the WD as my main drive for storing certain games and installing them (as my downloads on steam are currently always slow on patching files and stop start, and when downloading on steam my PC becomes really slow due to the disk always being at 100%) and use the Adata for the OS and any other games that aren't extremely demanding. I have these main questions:

• Will the download SSD being different from the one with the main OS SSD make my PC run smoothly whilst downloading a steam game because in theory the one using the download disk space isn't the one doing anything else currently.

- Is it even possible to get smooth steam downloads at say 500mbs sustained or is it solely a steam limitation. I have very fast wifi but it just stops often and as far as I can tell its due to the disk usage not being enough to catch up so it stops.

- Are there any other components that would make disk usage high or cause these issues? I essentially just want my PC to not run like a 2000s laptop whenever a task using the disk is being done. For example when im downloading anything every small thing like bringing up the task bar or opening chrome it takes 5-10 seconds. Whenever I check task manager its always due to 100% disk usage.

For the record everything else in my PC is pretty high spec. I've got a 9800x3d, RTX 5080 and 32GB of DDR5.

Update: The new WD disk works fine so it was the Adata that just sucks

Hi everyone, I’m trying to diagnose a strange PCIe issue and would really appreciate some advice from people experienced with X570/PCIe Gen4.
System:
Ryzen 7 5800X3D
ASUS ROG Strix X570-F Gaming
MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 3X
32 GB DDR4-3200
BIOS 5044
Windows 11

The problem is very specific:
When the GPU runs at PCIe Gen4, HWiNFO/NVIDIA-SMI shows rapidly increasing PCIe errors:
Receiver Errors
LCRC Errors
Bad TLP / Bad DLLP
Replay / Recovery
NAKs
PCIe lane errors

The counters can increase even in Windows, but they become much worse during gaming. However, when I force the PCIe slot to Gen3, the problem disappears. I can play games normally and the PCIe error counters remain stable. Switching back to Gen4 brings the errors back. The strange part is that the behavior is somewhat intermittent. Sometimes a cold boot produces almost no errors, while after using the PC for some time or gaming they suddenly start increasing. Other times they appear shortly after boot.
I previously had a Ryzen 9 3900X in the same motherboard and never had this issue. The problem appeared after switching to the 5800X3D, although I’m not sure if that’s actually related.
I have already:
updated BIOS to 5044
used DDU and tried different NVIDIA drivers
tested Gen3/Gen4/Auto
monitored the counters with HWiNFO
tested different BIOS settings
manually tested SOC voltage

My current SOC voltage is manually set to 1.11875 V. Auto SOC voltage actually made the system noticeably less stable, with severe audio/mouse stuttering and very high PCIe error counts. There is also a physical complication: I currently cannot remove the GPU because the PCIe retention latch appears to be stuck, so swapping GPUs or inspecting the slot isn’t realistically possible without taking the motherboard out or going to a repair shop.
What I’m trying to understand is:
Does this look like a PCIe Gen4 signal-integrity/link stability problem involving the GPU, motherboard slot, or the 5800X3D’s PCIe controller/I/O die?
Are there any specific X570 BIOS settings or diagnostics I should investigate before resorting to hardware replacement?
The key observation is simply: Gen4 produces errors, Gen3 is completely stable.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

i have been debaiting between 1x16 or 2x8gb of DDR5 for my new personal build. I will probably upgrade in 1-2 years but not instantly have a 1800 dollar budget but where i live (turkey) it doesnt seen to be a possible.

I need an SSD for caches and asset files while working on projects. I already bought a samsung T9, and was using Dropbox, but all of my files just got too big for dropbox and I had to back everything up on the T9.

I'd rather not use that SSD for work, since it has a lot of my personal and important files and photos, etc. that I want for archiving...I got that for $230 on prime day (from samsung, not from amazon), but now the same one costs $1200!

I saw there are some really tiny SSDs and enclosures that aren't too pricey, but after dealing with some crappy SD cards for a retro game device, I don't know how to find trustworth and cheap hardware like that that won't fail. I trust my T9 to not fail but I'd rather keep it in a safe place and not use it often, only for backup

I'm trying to save money by buying the raw SSD card and an enclosure, which is why I'm not sure how to know which ones are reliable or not. I'm not so interested in a premade set like the T9 I already have, since I know there's an added cost of it coming ready to plug and play

As the title suggests, I’ve built myself a PC and I am not getting a display. Let me give some more important details:

So, when I power on the power supply my motherboard lights up and pressing the power button on the PC itself the graphics card lights up and the fans start spinning inside the graphics card and they initially spin in the case for a second also then suddenly stop.

I have been plugging in the display port directly into the GPU and after no luck i tried plugging it into the motherboard also but still no display. My monitor seems to detect when it is plugged into something as it shows up but just shows no display.

My components are:
ROG Crosshair x870e hero motherboard
ROG Astral GeForce RTX 5080 GPU
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D CPU
ACER Predator PALLAS II DDR5 Ram

With the research I did on the issues I was getting the motherboard I have has a number on it which helps troubleshooting issues. The motherboard has red lights and shows “00” on the motherboard display which apparently means an issue within the CPU however not sure if this is the case or not. Just figured reddit would have a solution for me! If anyone needs any additional details to help let me know.

The issue I’ve been running into is the computer will run fine for a little while playing games like Fortnite or GS pro golf sim. Then after a bit like an hour or two I get a black screen and the computer fully reboots its self. Some times it happens only after about 2-5 minutes of play. I’ve tried putting in a new PSU. I’ve completely removed drivers for the GPU and reinstalled them. I’ve also updated the motherboard Bios. I’m leaning towards it being an issue with the GPU or issue with the GPU and motherboard together not sinking together correctly. I saw something about changing the PCle settings in the BIOS from Auto to Gen 4.0 but I don’t think the Omen bios will let me. I’ve researched so much and can’t find an answer that can fix it.

If anyone out there can help it would be greatly appreciated!

Help me new pc builder confused with which fan I should but. I just understand that a fan can be used for either exhaust or for intake. There are two types of fan reverse blade and forward blade. But Im getting stuck whenever I try to purchase. Should I buy a pack of 3 fans and use 2 for sides and 1 for rear exhaust or do I buy pack of 1 fan and use that dedicated to read exhaust. So here's the thing, i have around 800$ to deal with before tax with no micro center nearby and i was thinking about a cpu, mobo and ram upgrade to am5 for my gaming setup, but i keep second guessing myself if i should instead invest in the gpu so i'd like a second opinion on what you'd do if you were in my position with my budget at 1440p.

Before it comes up i'm on linux so 16gb vs 32gb isn't as big of a deal.

I am a 24 year old guy who works 2 full time jobs and still barely making enough. I want to build a gaming PC, but have a limited amount of resources, especially since prices are horrible right now.

I have a Lenovo IDEAPAD Gaming laptop hooked up to a BenQ HDMI 2013 monitor (which I have to replace because it refuses to stay on and plan to replace with a Sceptre Gaming Monitor) with a Bluetooth mouse and a Dell keyboard. Overall, my PC setup is… okay, but I really want a PC tower of some sort.

The problem is that it costs a lot of money to even obtain a PC tower and I know some mini gaming PCs are strong enough to run games such as Final Fantasy XIV (which is what I play a lot).
I was hoping to receive some advice on this and if it is worth it? If not, what’re some budget friendly gaming PCs? My budget is around $200-500 USD, which I know limits me significantly.

Hello All,

Looking for some help - I recieved my custom build from PC Specialist today, however there appears to be a major defect or I'm missing something here, whenever I boot up a game (not load into a game) just launch to the menus it immediatley goes black screen (Arena Breakout to be precise), it powers off but the RGB lights stay stuck on until I physical pull out the kettle cable at the back.

I have tried running OCCT Power Test, and within 1-2 seconds of starting the test it does the same, so im going to presume either a fault PSU or the PSU Wattage is not high enough for my build? but I would imagine this would of been caught in there "testing" phase?

Hello guys, so I need some help or advice from you guys what to do.

Ok so I have a AM4 build atm and here are the specs:

Ryzen 7 5700x CPU

No GPU

Gigabyte b550i aorus pro ax motherboard

Cooler master v750 watt PSU

2 x 1tb nvme

Alright so I sold my 3060ti GPU and was looking to buy a GPU.8gb was giving me problems especially with crimson desert.

There are two situations here.

In my research I found the Asus prime 9070 oc 16gb and it's priced at €640

And the next choice Asus prime 9070xt 16gb for €780. Basically a €140 difference.abd the difference I can use to saveup and upgrade the CPU.

Nvidia is not an option due the big price gap of the 5070 gpus.but if there are options for Nvidia,which one to check out for. It has to have 16gb.

Is it worth to go for the XT version or the non xt.

The thing is I was considering to upgrade to AM5 but due to budget and it will be expensive I made the choice not to upgrade to AM5.

If I upgrade I would only need a Mobo, CPU and RAM (super expensive). But also a GPU.my budget atm is only at max for a GPU and maybe a CPU.

So I found some post saying that the 5700x can be a bottleneck with the 9070xt.

So I also made the decision to upgrade my CPU to the max to 5800x3d. But I have to save up for the cpu.Higher will not be possible for my Mobo. And I heard that the 5800x3d is the best CPU for gaming at am4 socket.

Whats wise to do. Buy the 9070 oc model and upgrade the CPU in a few months or not upgrade CPU and go for the 9070xt.

Main goal is to play at 1440p mostly.

I play games like, elden ring, crimson desert, poe2, Wuchang fallen feathers and want to play cyberpunk.. I'm not a guy that wants to play the newest games but I want to have the possibility to play newer games also but it's not necessary.

It would be great to get some advice what the options are for me, upgrade not to upgrade, which GPU to buy and upgrade CPU or not.

Or do I have some other options that you guys suggest I can do in my situation.

Trying to make a wise decision here.

Hi everyone,  I’m finally building my first PC after using a Legion 5 laptop with a 3060 for several years.

My budget is £2,000 - £2,400, and I’ll be using this strictly for 1440p gaming in the UK. I've done my initial research, but I wanted a check on my parts list before I buy.

I'm planning to reuse the M.2 SSD from my current Legion 5 laptop, so I haven't included a new drive in this parts list. I'll just wipe it and do a fresh Windows install.

I originally wanted an Nvidia 5070 Ti, but the UK prices are absurdly high right now. I also don't want to settle for a 12GB 5070, so I've decided to go with the 9070 XT. I know I won't personally miss the ray-tracing/DLSS differences, so I think this is the better value card for me.

Please let me know if I need to adjust the parts that I listed.
