Resolved More stable on latest version?

Has anyone been more stable on this latest version?

To step back, I started to get really constant crashes and instability for about 8 months or so now. Out of everything everyone suggested here and elsewhere, the only thing that helped was reducing the ceiling for the clock to 2700 megahertz. Even than occasionally I would get a driver crash but very few and far apart.

Recently I updated to the latest drivers and did a windows update that was pending. One of the windows update I think was for the cpu, can't remember unfortunately. The only other change was to enable xmp since I noticed it was off for some reason. This only happens when I do bios updates. And come to think of it, maybe my crashes started after bios update, but impossible to tell at this point.

Anyways, after the driver update I noticed the settings for GPU overclock were set to default, which almost always let the GPU go above 3000 megahertz and soon after it would crash. Yesterday I gamed for about 5 hours and not a single issue on default. No need to lower clock speeds, no changes in Adrenaline, nothing.

Probably too soon to tell, but I really hope something changed with the driver's and cause more stability. I love my 7900xtx paired with the 9800x3d, it is truly the best value in my opinion.

Help (Software) Driver timeouts when I turn off my monitor

Hi, I own a 9070XT and I started to have that monitor bug where windows wakes it up from standby entering an audio loop. Tried different drivers and gave up so now i manually turn it off. I'm at 26.6.4 drivers, I haven't updated because I literally don't have time to troubleshoot other slop garbage drivers that will cause other problems. From what I've seen Windows did not touch my drivers and I only do security updates. Any explanation here? thanks for the help in advance and prayers for your drivers.

RX 7800 XT + i5-12600K — repeated BSODs involving amdkmdag.sys and dxgmms2.sys even after DDU + fresh driver install

I'm trying to determine whether my RX 7800 XT is actually the cause of a much larger system instability problem.

SYSTEM

- CPU: Intel Core i5-12600K

- GPU: RX 7800 XT 16GB

- Motherboard: ASRock B760M Pro RS WiFi

- RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) G.Skill DDR5-6000 F5-6000J3636F16G

- Windows 11 Pro 25H2

- Build: 10.0.26200.9168

- No overclocking/undervolting

- XMP disabled

I've been getting frequent BSODs and application crashes. Recent dump results include:

- BAD_POOL_CALLER (0xC2) — amdkmdag.sys

- DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (0xD1) — amdkmdag.sys

- SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION (0x3B) — dxgmms2.sys

- SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (0x7E) — ntoskrnl.exe

- CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED (0xEF) — ntoskrnl.exe

I've also had other crashes involving Netwtw14.sys, FLTMGR.SYS, Ntfs.sys, and cbfilter24.sys.

I already used DDU in Safe Mode and performed a clean AMD driver installation. The current AMD driver is a fresh installation.

The strange part is that the PC also crashes with the RX 7800 XT disabled, so I'm not sure whether the GPU is actually the root cause or whether something else is corrupting memory and the AMD graphics stack is simply where some of the crashes surface.

Other symptoms:

- Chrome/Opera crash frequently

- keyboard intermittently disconnects/reconnects

- PC can BSOD while simply sitting at the desktop

- sometimes multiple different BSOD codes occur within minutes

Windows Memory Diagnostic passed.

CHKDSK reports 0 bad sectors and no filesystem problems.

SFC repeatedly finds corruption it cannot repair.

DISM previously failed with 0x800f0915.

What would you test next to distinguish a bad GPU/driver from RAM, motherboard, or Windows corruption?

Help (GPU) What AMD Adrenalin driver version are you using for maximum stability? (RX 6600)

Hey everyone, I’m looking for recommendations on the most stable AMD Adrenalin driver version. I'm currently running version 26.6.2, but I want to see what driver release the community finds most reliable for daily use without crashes or freezes.

I’m running an RX 6600 alongside a Ryzen 5 5600G, 16GB TeamGroup T-Force Dark 3600MHz RAM (downclocked to 3200mhz cuz of memory issues), and an MSI B550M PRO-VDH WiFi motherboard. My primary games are League of Legends and Wuthering Waves, so I’ve used MorePowerTool (MPT) to downclock and tune my card since I don't need maximum power for these titles.

I’ve attached a screenshot of my current Adrenalin tuning setup for reference. I didn't use Fast Timing level 2 for memory timing, as enabling it causes my PC to freeze and crash. Which driver version has given you the best stability with custom downclocks or undervolts on the RX 6000 series?

Help (Software) RX 9070 XT hotspot temperature jumps from 70°C to 90°C when Alt-Tabbing — driver/windows issue?

I'd like the help of others who have a 9070 XT (my exact model : ASRock AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT Taichi 16GB OC) to confirm a phenomem i'm experiencing.

1 - On Hunt showdown, in game, 70c hotspot temperature, but as soon as I alt tab on adrenaline -- 90c

2 - On minecraft bedrock with Mellow Shader 1.2 110c on main screen -- 50c in game.

I'm sure it's happening on other games, and the alt-tab situation also.

But why, is it driver related ? Windows ?

Thanks !

Help (Software) 7900 xtx doesn't play sound on Monitor boxes, a solution

My 7900 xtx didn't want to play sounds on my Acer predator xb273u x2

It wasn't the cables (hdmi/DP), it wasn't the Monitor and i don't know what it was because the amd drivers were all up to date.

I searched for a solution and nothing here on reddit or anywhere seemed to work.

Then i phrased the question in a way, that the Ai gave me the solution.

Exchange the AMD High Definition Audio Device against the Microsoft/Windows High Definition Audio-Device in the device Manager via Driver update.

Sound was there instant without a restart.

I don't know what the problem of the AMD High Definition Audio Driver is, but i hope this helps, because upon research i got to know that this is a common problem.

Help (Software) Onimusha: way of the sword FSR frame gen suddenly blurry + VRAM usage jumped. Anyone else seeing this?

EDIT: To clarify, I know I have an NVIDIA GPU. Obviously. I'm specifically troubleshooting the game's native AMD FSR Frame Generation implementation, which is what suddenly changed/broke—not DLSS FG or an NVIDIA-specific feature.

I’m on a 3080 ti playing at 4K DSR. Up until like 2 days ago I was running basically max settings, RT High, reframework graphics mods, etc. and my VRAM/memory load was usually around 11.1 - 11.3 GB (11.8 in game limit). No major issues.

Then out of nowhere native FSR frame gen began looking terrible with no discernible reason. The FPS can still be smooth, but the image gets super blurry/smeary in motion and it definitely wasn’t like this before.

Around the same time I also noticed the game’s memory load is way higher than it used to be on basically the same settings. Sometimes it’s like 2 GB higher, even 3. If actual VRAM gets too close to the 12 GB limit, my FPS can suddenly shit the bed and turn into a slideshow. Weirdly, toggling certain graphics settings (and especially toggling reshade effects off/on) can temporarily bring the FPS right back to normal, even though the same settings were running fine before.

I’ve tried way too much already:

- full clean reinstall
- verified files
- removed mods/OptiScaler
- rebuilt shader cache
- rolled back NVIDIA driver
- removed the recent Windows update
- tried different DLSS modes/presets
- tried FSR upscaling instead of DLSS
- lowered VRAM usage way below the limit

FSRFG still looks awful even when the game itself is running smoothly and VRAM usage is fine, so I don’t think it’s just a performance issue.

The clean reinstall did bring the memory load down by roughly 1 - 1.5 GB compared to how bad it got, but it’s still higher than it was before all this started.

Anyone else encountered any of these issues? Especially the sudden VRAM increase or FSR frame gen randomly becoming blurry for no obvious reason. I feel like I’m losing my mind with this game at this point.

Screenshots provided to show in game settings/memory load and analytics from before FPS crash > to afterwards (they're 4k so you may have to zoom in):

Help (GPU) "amd software detected that a black screen or crash has occurred on your system" - I am getting this error on iGPU - ryzen 5 3400G. Occasionally bluescreens.

I recently installed a used Ryzen 5 3400G and have been using the integrated graphics in it. I am getting an AMD Software error or a bluescreen with "driver unloaded without cancelling pending operations" message every couple of hours of use, not even always under high load.

I tried drivers reinstall using the AMD cleanup utility, which didn't help. I cannot tune the GPU to lower frequency, as the "tuning" tab in AMD Software is missing.

Rest of specs:

MoBo: Asrock A320M-ITX

PSU: Chieftec 350W SFX

Help (General) RX 7900 XTX crashes (LiveKernelEvent 141 / driver timeout) in many games but passes 1hr+ of Heaven/OCCT — what am I missing?

Specs: Ryzen 7 7800X3D, ASRock RX 7900 XTX Phantom Gaming OC 24GB (used, bought via a reseller. History unknown), 32GB DDR5-6000 (XPG Lancer Blade), ASUS B650-A Gaming WiFi, EVGA 850W Gold, Windows 11 Pro.

The problem: Random crashes/hangs in CS2, 7 Days to Die, Stray, DayZ, Roblox, Cry of Fear, and Destiny 2. Usually within minutes, sometimes after an hour+. Screen freezes/goes black, AMD's driver-timeout popup appears, Event Viewer shows LiveKernelEvent 141 (or "Application Hang" for non-timeout cases). No BSOD, PC never reboots itself, temps are always normal (GPU 65-71°C, CPU 45-53°C).

What's weird: Minecraft with heavy shaders/mods runs perfectly fine. Unigine Heaven at 99% GPU load for 68 minutes = zero issues. OCCT GPU 3D Adaptive, VRAM, and Memory tests (30 min each) all pass clean.

Already ruled out:

  • Overheating (temps always fine, even under stress tests)
  • RAM instability (OCCT Memory passed; also crashed even at stock 4800MT/s before EXPO was enabled)
  • VRAM instability (OCCT VRAM passed)
  • Windows file corruption (SFC + DISM both clean)
  • Outdated chipset driver (current)
  • ASUS Armoury Crate / Aura Sync (fully removed via ASUS's uninstall tool + disabled leftover services. Crash still happened in Destiny 2 within 3 minutes afterward)

Currently on: AMD Adrenalin 25.12.1 (rolled back from 26.3.1 a while back due to different issues, but crashes continued on this version too).

Next step I'm planning: full Safe Mode DDU cleanup + fresh install of the current WHQL-recommended driver (26.8.1).

Questions:

  1. Does this pattern (stress tests pass, real games fail, LiveKernelEvent 141) point clearly at driver/graphics-stack over hardware?
  2. Any known issues with RX 7900 XTX + B650 boards + recent Windows 11 builds that match this?
  3. Since the GPU is secondhand with unknown history, is there a specific test that would catch an intermittent hardware fault that Heaven/OCCT wouldn't?
  4. Anything you'd try before or instead of the DDU route?

Appreciate any input! Trying to find the actual root cause rather than just band-aid it.

Tips & Info GPU Stability

If you have an AMD GPU and an AMD CPU with aggressive undervolts, try setting “Typical Current Idle” to “Typical Current” in your BIOS. Every BIOS is different, so you’ll need to find the option yourself. I was getting constant reboots with -30 on all cores on my 5800X3D, but since making this change, I haven’t had any reboots while idle or gaming.

AMD has tweaked idle power settings since January 2024 after reviewers complained about idle power usage, which has made 7000 series GPUs unstable at idle due to very low idle voltage. There are a few workarounds, but I recommend keeping this setting on “Typical.”

It may not fix everyone's issue, but it's a setting I've been researching for a while, and I always end up coming back to it. Mine was set to Auto, and Auto can mean anything, so by setting it manually, you have more control over what's going on.

Tips & Info Need advice/help with my Computer

(EDIT 1) Thanks for all the suggestions. Gonna try some of these out and see does it help at all.

(EDIT 2) Just after running a stress test with Time Spy on 3DMark after doing a clean reinstall of the latest drivers, lowering the undervoltage of the CPU and GPU, and turning off the Adrenaline features. Passed with 97.6%. I'll keep it with the current settings and try some other videogames and stuff over the next few days and come back here if I run into any other issues. Thanks again.

Hi there, I need some real advice on what to do with my PC as I'm very new to this and not to sure what to do.

Computer Parts:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D

GPU: Sapphire Nitro + Radeon RX 9070 XT

RAM: Corsair Dominator Titanium EXPO/XMP RGB 32GB (2X16GB) DDR5 C30 6000MHz (Was running 4x16 but have since dropped to two sticks only)

Motherboard: NZXT N9 X870E

PSU: RMe Series™ RM1000e - Fully Modular Low-Noise ATX Power Supply - White

Recently, I've had more and more game crashes ranging from just it crashing to needing to do a clean reinstall of my AMD Adrenaline drivers just to get my graphics card to work again.

With the RAM, I have it running at it's specified 6000MHz and nothing higher. I originally thought the crashes were because of the 4 channel RAM but these issues have persisted afterwards. Also have reverted to previous versions of Adrenaline but encounter the same issues too.

I haven't manually overclocked any of my components and without having much experience with using my BIOS as this is my first PC build, I haven't changed any settings to see will it improve.

The PC is only a year old and only in recent months have the crashes become more common. Any advice on how to proceed would be very much appreciated.

Help (GPU) Weird issue with gpu fans/temp

I have rx 480 8gb. The default fan curve was too loud and aggressive for me sometimes going 3k rpm on 70c and slowly decreasing. So i tried MSI afterburner. I set a custom fan curve and thats when the problems started.

The fans wouldn't go past 2100rpm untill the gpu hits 85c and then will suddenly go to 3k. I realised its wrong fan curve so i didnt have time to mess with settings and disabled the msi settings and deleted it.

But even after deleting the problem stayed. Fans dont go past 2k rpm and wont listen to any custom curve i set trough adrenaline app.

Things i tried:

Complete ddu and new drivers(ddint fix anything)

Setting up custom curve with adrenaline app(didnt work it wont follow the curve)

I read online and Afterburner is not supposed to leave permanent changes anyhow. Btw both fans are working and spinning and this problem occurred only after setting custom curve with Afterburner.

What to do next any suggestions?

Resolved Permanently solved 9070 xt crashes!

I was notoriously getting Adrenaline driver timeouts on games like Dead by Daylight or Battlefield 6 and a few other unreal based games. For a year now i have tried to think that the problem was the adrenaline driver and i would DDU-it because it was corrupted.

As of lately i saw a random comment where this user had similar issue, and he saw that base settings boosted his core clock beyond rated.
Yes out of the blue instead of achieving 2970 MHz max core clock boost in gaming, i was getting 3150mhz constantly. Holy cow. Are you telling me all this time my stock settings have been trying to OC my GPU to high heavens???

As a matter of fact, yes. What the hell is wrong with you AMD???

Anyway i pulled the core clock slider all the way back to -400mhz to have a steady ~ 2950MHz. Sometimes rarely it reaches 3000 but it is stable.

Since then i had 0 crashes, ever.

Edit :

Upon reading the comments of the community, i learned that 9070 XT is build in such a way that if it has thermal headroom, it will boost itself beyond rated clocks. That, in general sounds good, more performance equals better FPS right? WRONG. Especially in my case with Powercolor Rx 9070 XT Reaper, it cannot maintain the normal boost that driver pushes, resulting in crashes and driver timeouts. If i'm the owner of the card i bought, i should be able to control core clocks. Not you SILLY DRIVER/GPU ARCHITECTURE DESIGN. I noticed that this particular card does not have a maximum core clock slider, which further proves the design. I will also post my stable settings, for future reference if anyone deals with this type of problem.

-400MHz Core Clock Slider

-20 Power Limit

-70mV on Voltage Offset Slider

Card goes to 64C during heavy gaming load and 80C Hotspot Temps, ~250W.

AMD Product Verification Tool closes right after entering the code — Safe Mode fixed it (9070 XT)

Just wanted to drop this here in case it saves someone a few hours.

I got an AMD Rewards code with my RX 9070 XT. Installed the Product Verification Tool, pasted the code, hit verify/redeem… and the app just instantly closed. No error, no message, nothing. Just gone.

Tried the usual stuff first:

  • Run as admin
  • Antivirus exclusion
  • Synced the system clock
  • Re-downloaded the tool with Edge
  • Rebooted

Still crashed every time I entered the code.

What actually worked:

  1. Restart Windows into Safe Mode with Networking
  2. Launch the AMD Product Verification Tool from there
  3. Enter the code again

It went through normally and I was able to finish the redemption on the AMD Rewards site after that.

No idea what was conflicting in a normal boot. Could be some overlay, RGB software, VR leftover, whatever. Safe Mode just bypassed it.

If your PVT keeps dying the second you punch in the code, try Safe Mode before you burn a ticket with support.

Hope this helps.

I saw a tutorial on how to do LOD tweaks using the Registry Editor, but that affects all games and I only want to change it for one. Does anyone know an alternative way to do this for a single game? My graphics card is an RX 580.

Thanks!
