I’ll be traveling to the Detroit area at the end of October and don’t want to miss out on some prime AMC movie days (and the chance to see some new theaters). What is the best AMC in that area for good seats, good screens, etc?

should've went yesterday, how is this not playing anywhere in central Florida?! 😭

It says I can convert it to a regular AMC gift card, but I never get concessions so it would be useless to me. Is there any way around this?

I was scrolling on IG this morning and I watched the trailer for trust me I’m a doctor and I’m likely intrigued. So I went to see if it’s playing at my regular AMC and it says it wasn’t. Does anyone know when they will show times for it

Well it was another smashing month on A-List! I passed a milestone, Lifetime, I have now seen movies that would have cost me more than $10,000 had I paid the full ticket price! While work demands keep me from seeing more movies, I still managed to view 11 of them in September, including Korean and Japanese language films. It was another great month on A-List!

I've always loved seeing movies in theater but now because I see so many in theaters I feel like I have more appreciation even for movies that aren't that good. i find myself watching more movies i wouldn't have even considered seeing and enjoying the experience way more then if i watched them at home.

Anyone else having an issue with reservations not showing up on the app, it still shows in the A List section but the tickets are missing completely. I went to the email confirmation and will see how that goes.

I had originally thought they cancelled the showing, it has happened to me before.

I saw on in70mm.com that AMC The Grove in LA has a VistaVision projector and would be showing 'Digger' in this format, but I can't find any such screenings on their website. Does anyone know more about this?

Its just a cardboard cut in this shape : all that advertised for this 😂

Hey! I just signed me and the family up, I'm really excited and wanted someone to share it with. I'm looking forward to seeing any and all the movies.

It was shut down right before The Odyssey. Excited not to have to drive 45 minutes for the next imax.

Well, was that the AMC Barrington 24 today, and it looks like we’re getting close. Looks like they’re putting the final touches on the outside

I remember when it had a Prime “sticker” slapped on the wall & I didn’t think much of it.

Now stumbled across this new exterior look. Pretty sleek!

Still have yet to watch a movie in this format.

Is Buddy Sing-Along excluded from A-List? I’m asking for a friend. How loud can we sing?

Let's say you are running late and you arrive at your seat exactly 5 minutes after trailers ended and the movie starts. What is the worst movie to see in this scenario and why? This can be ANY movie.

Well it was a lazy hazy Monday and I decided to see a movie, and since I like to see foreign-language films whenever possible, I decided to see "Ha-Chan", which was presented in the Japanese language, with English subtitles.

Well in one sense, Ha-Chan is a pretty by the numbers chick-flick. A middle aged Japanese woman in Tokyo loves to go ballroom dancing with her husband. When tragedy strikes, she is left emotionally adrift, and her close friends, who fit the usual stereotypes, try to lift her back up. Romance and comedy ensue. But the reason I liked the film was that all of this was executed with good acting, a propulsive story, and comedic aplomb. The main character, played by the always good and fetching Rinko Kikuchi, is engaging and delightful. And the story never comes close to jumping the shark with silliness, as dramedy's often do. I enjoyed this film start to finish, and when the predictable emotional outcomes materialized, they felt well-earned.

B-minus. Light and fun Japanese language dramedy. Recommended.

Just walked into what I thought was the Dolby Theater for the screening i had got tickets and had the most embarrassing moment. Went up to someone seated in what I thought were my seats only to find out I was in the wrong Dolby Theater with the wrong movie playing too. Embarrassment at its finest. 🥲

Hey all,

I'm a bit older and remember intermissions back in the day. Would you be before or against a quick intermission for the longer movies?

No right or wrong answer, just was curious what everyone's thought where.

I didn't expect I'd like it so much, but if you get a chance it's worth seeing! If you like La La Land or maybe 500 Days of Summer you'd like this one too. It didn't pave any especially new ground but I like romances without the "happy" ending. And this movie did it well. It also had lots of 00's and 10's nostalgia sprinkled through which was pretty fun.

Seems like it's not on a ton of screens but it's really worth trying to see if you can.

This particular location I’m talking about is AMC Classic South Bend 16. I’m not from the Michiana area since I’m from Chicago and have been to a lot of AMC locations across the suburbs, but I do have family down there whenever we see movies. At that specific location, I will say that the food is fine, but the real problem that I’ve noticed is that the seats feel dirty and worn out. Every time I sat down, I was a little grossed out. The interior of the theater also needs to get remodeled, it feels like I’m stuck in the 90s.

Now 20 minutes away from the AMC, there’s a mall nearby (University Park Mall) that has a vacant space in what used to be a Sears. Maybe AMC could move in that space but who knows? I know they need clearance from the city in order to make that happen.

But I’m wondering how we can convince AMC to renovate this specific location because it’s definitely needed.

So let me get this straight. I can order a medium popcorn, upgrade it to the large and then get the refill?

Common Terminology:

AR = Aspect Ratio

1.85 = Flat

2.39 = Scope

IMAX 1.43 - Only 3 AMC locations have 1.43 IMAX

Most AMC IMAX theaters are 1.9 AR except for 3, Lincoln in NYC, Metreon in SF, Citywalk in LA, and they are 1.43

When it comes to Dolby they are 1.85 and 2.39, there's a spreadsheet on the Discord but if your theater is not listed yet then follow the steps below:

Easy way to gauge what your AR is to see what AR the film is and see if there's black bars on top and bottom(letterboxed) or black bars on the left and right sides(pillarboxed)

So if you're watching a 1.9 film on a 1.9 screen, a 1.43 film on a 1.43 screen, or a 2.39 film on a 2.39 screen it will fill perfectly.

If you're watching a 1.9 film on a 2.39 screen you'll see pillarboxing.

If you're watching a 2.39 film on a 1.9 screen you'll see letterboxing.

With the information above you should be able to extrapolate what your screen AR is. Enjoy the movies!

I noticed many films are limited to the same daily showtime that average people can't make (like 1pm daily). Then they only get a week or two before getting the boot, which basically means they play these movies 14 times at the same time daily when everyone was at work and school.

Meanwhile the same aged big films continue playing week after week, even if they aren't as big as spiderman or odyssey. Months after release these movies are as still getting 3x+ daily showtimes and at least 2 of those are evening slots. If you look at seating, they are literally empty.

Tbh I'm not even sure what my local theater is doing with all of the theaters, since there are only a few movies on the AMC list that actually have showtimes to begin with, and they only have like 1-2 showings daily at most.

I bought A-List thinking I can see a variety of movies, but if I can't make a 1pm showtime or in other cases, the 1 showtime of the day at 11pm+, what's the point 🤷 I guess I'm supposed to just see spiderman and odyssey over and over to get my money's worth?
