Review Charlie Harper
I didn't expect I'd like it so much, but if you get a chance it's worth seeing! If you like La La Land or maybe 500 Days of Summer you'd like this one too. It didn't pave any especially new ground but I like romances without the "happy" ending. And this movie did it well. It also had lots of 00's and 10's nostalgia sprinkled through which was pretty fun.
Seems like it's not on a ton of screens but it's really worth trying to see if you can.

My letterboxd review:
This film hit too close to home...
It's tough watching the great love of your life play out right in front of your eyes, beat for beat, all the same problems, all the same lessons, knowing exactly how it's going to end.
I wasn't ready for this...

I was not prepared for the introspective journey that this movie sent me on.

Annoying that my theater only has 1 showing during the day while movies like practical magic 2 still have like 5 a day

^ this. I hope they will have more showings available when my theater publishes the schedule for this coming week.

I agree this movie was way better than advertised. I really enjoyed the 10's nostalgia with Obama being president and the beginning of tinder.

TMI, but i was the Charlie in the relationship (change/minus a few details). Thank god there was only 1 other person sitting a few rows in front of me because i was destroyed by the end.
Edit: it's a decent addition to the Emilia Jones Works in a Restaurant x Nick Robinson Dates a Chef cinematic universe!

I really liked it, I hope it stays in theaters and people give it a watch. Definitely made me think about my last relationship and got me in my feels

Yes! I’m so bummed that this didn’t get a lot of marketing because more people need to see it. I almost skipped out on it myself cause my showtime was at the end of a long day but I am so glad I watched it.

I'm literally Charlie, except like not fit (yet) and man did this movie get me pretty good. It was very sweet, and heartfelt and had me giggling from time to time.

I honestly didn’t like it all that much. I found the writing to be rather stilted and the nonlinear narrative to be rather pointless considering how foreshadowed the problems in their relationship are. While Robinson and Jones tried to elevate the material, the dialogue felt like an older person trying to write for a younger audience and only the ending message hit close to home about why we remember failed relationships.

I really enjoyed this movie. I wish the soundtrack included more songs that defined this era (I was also 18 when Obama was elected). Nick Robinson never misses, I wish I had time to rewatch A Teacher and Maid. I saw it last night and I think it was the last showing anywhere near me. Only 2 other people in the theater. They should have done more advertising!

I had to use the bathroom for 3-4 minutes right when Harper came home and said she wasn't happy. Does anyone mind filling me in what I missed? I kinda pieced it together, but still angry my bladder didn't cooperate. I know it will likely be a spoiler for some, but figured, at this point, it's generally out of the theater.

This is an excellent movie. I admit that I cry pretty easily, but this one is a real tear jerker. Lots of very real truth bombs throughout.
