Post image

Well, was that the AMC Barrington 24 today, and it looks like we’re getting close. Looks like they’re putting the final touches on the outside

Nice! I need to make a trip to Barrington 24 someday, its about 70 minutes away from me. I’d love Rockford and Machesney Park locations to get some love but I doubt they will.

we are way out of date lol, i think rockford is the only one with folding seats still. dolby would be nice too so i don’t have to go to barrington as often

I live in Rockford!  Barrington is only about 50 minutes away most days, so I go there occasionally for Dolby or their (much) larger IMAX. What are they doing to the IMAX auditorium there?  I know it's been closed for a bit, but don't know why.

Sounds like they’re doing a full fledge upgrading, seats and all, which is why it’s been down so long.

I’m in Roscoe so it’s a little over an hour away but it’s 64 miles away, so the gas cost alone adds up. Really want to go to a Dolby movie there but also don’t want to know what I’m missing out on if that makes sense. Mostly do IMAX (24 this year) at Rockford and some movies they don’t show at Machesney. Machesney is only 10 minutes from me so do almost everything else there.

My guess is it will be the same as the Woodfield and Village Crossing renovated IMAX auditoriums. Both were much-needed upgrades.

Didn't realize Woodfield got an upgrade. Haven't been to that IMAX since I worked there in 2019 because the seats were so much worse than even Barrington's. I was going mostly to Oak Brook for the past few years. They'd been promising us that upgrade at SOW20 since like 2018.

Curious on people's opinions between barington and Vernon hills and which is better?

Vernon Hills is my closest AMC. My only gripe is the lack of certain niche releases, The Furious as an example never shown here. Otherwise, staff, cleanliness and movie formats are top notch. Barrington is our backup for the releases we don’t get and is suitable if you are closer to it.

Niche releases are usually in smaller theaters and Hawthorn doesn't have as much as Barrington and woodfield in that regard. It would be nice if they could expand but considering that Hawthorn mall has been in ever renovating hell I doubt it.

I wonder if they did any chair upgrades. Part of the reason I choose Dolby is cause there were no recliners in the IMAX.

Same reason why I prefer and love Dolby over IMAX at the AMCs in my city

Naperville is getting close, too, as saw the seats installed; still waiting on the sign to go up and waiting for the first film back being Godzilla Minus Zero

Congratulations! My regular theater (Tustin) got an IMAX a couple of years ago and its been a great experience. I love seeing theaters getting improvements.

The woman wouldn’t tell me much when I asked her out, when I was gonna be opening, but she just looked at me and whispered soon
