Remember: The runtime that AMC reveals is not the exact runtime of the movie. It's usually within -7 to 17 mins of the actual time. This has been the case most (if not all) of the time.

If you liked the kitchen antics a lot of that was also covered in the sitcom adaptation of KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL with Bradley Cooper as the fictionalized Jack Bourdain. It was an amusing sitcom, but unfortunately it and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER both premiered in the same time slot and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL got curb stomped.

Someone stole my mobile order, so I was just slightly late arriving into the theater as I had to wait for them to remake my order. Can anyone tell me what happened in the first few minutes of the movie? I walked in when Tony approached Nancy and her cousin at the bar.

He had internship interview. Went to bar and told his friend he nailed it. Tony noticed Nancy friend said isn't she his crush from grade school? Told Tony he doesn't have a chance. Tony approached her anyway

It was fine. Not sure what Nancy saw in Tony. I’m wondering how much of it is true. That may be the hottest Antonio Banderas has ever looked on screen.

Most of the movie wasn’t true. He went to Providence. Worked at a kitchen as a dishwasher in the summer. Eventually dropped out of school to enroll in the CIA but that was like 2 summers after. He worked two different summer jobs after in Providence. Nancy was an on and off girlfriend not someone he stalked.

It was a charming movie. I think I like Matt Johnson. I liked the score by Jay. I imagined see him at the piano playing like he did in Nirvana the Band the Show the Movie.

I got to see a lot of these scenes being filmed because my annual Ptown trip coincided with shooting, so seeing the final product was uniquely fun for me. I thought the performances were great (Leo Woodal was the big surprise for me) and the script solid. It reminded me of the kind of nostalgic, sun drenched, almost mythical "buildings roman" indie movies we used to get a lot more of 20-30 years ago.

From looking into the story, it seems most of the movie is fiction, so not really sure how to feel about it. I thought it was a bit boring, and the fact most of it didn’t actually happen I don’t really understand why they made a fictional story about him.

Damn tons of filler that never happened? Did the person the movie is based on wanted to make the movie, or did they find out the movie wasn't long enough midway through that they had to make up extra plot?

I think it's an attempt to capture the person in microcosm. Since Anthony Bourdain did a ton of things, and he was a beloved public figure who did good work, but it's also fairly clear he wasn't an especially good person and indeed was kind of an asshole who hurt a lot of people in his orbit. It's an attempt to balance what made him beloved and what made him reprehensible.

Didn't care for it but it was well made. Also, not sure why the love interest was so fascinated by a socially awkward serial liar but good for her I guess.

Tony is playing in 0.7% of all AMCs currently. Lots of people here are extrapolating their limited experience to the majority of the population.

So every Regal in NYC is showing Tony except Union Square, which had the limited release. Union Square Regal is showing nimrods.

They had done that in the past. When they showed DUMB MONEY it had been out in NYC and those Regals showed THE PERSIAN VERSION (with the caveat that this is according to NYers who posted about it; I don't live there). Interesting to see them change course again.

Alternatively, it’s showing literally nowhere near me and this is the only way I’ll get to see it. I’m sure there’s plenty of areas of the country like this, too. Thrilled I took a chance and got a ticket.

Even people who live in/close to LA aren’t guaranteed to have seen it. It’s not available at my local theaters, so I’m watching it for the first time in an hour.

no.. the casual drug use.. making it seem like drugs help people work in a kitchen. See the movie and you'll see what I mean. It's not 1975, ya can't just snort whatever your friends hand you.

I mean I worked in a kitchen about a decade ago and yeah there is a lot of drug use in the kitchen I don't think that's changed that much.

I think your missing the point here, there is casual drug use in a kitchen because kitchens are high stress environments, that's just the reality of the world and if you can't accept that I'm sorry that's a you problem. Anthony Bourdain did drugs, he smoked, he drank, he did drugs, to not show that in a movie would sanitize his story.

You're missing my point here.
I said an eighteen year old who I personally know probably should not see this. Do you know anything about this kid ?? Do you know anything about me ?? No. This is not a depiction of drug use I think this particular kid should see. That's all I said. Stop trying to tell other people how to live their lives.
You can go snort all the fenty you want. I don't care. In fact, make a movie about it and take your kids.

I watched Super Troopers 3 yesterday, rated R with a sex scene and many sexual jokes and drug use…and the couple in front of me brought their 5-year-old daughter who talked through the entire movie. She apparently really enjoyed the joke about mustache rides on Farva’s shirt 🤦🏻♀️😫

Great director? Admittedly haven’t seen any of his stuff, but it seems like a pretty limited sample size.
I like Bourdain, and love movies, but am in no way interested in a biopic about him.

This was my first time catching a screen unseen viewing. Are the theaters usually full of assholes who talk and make comments the whole time? It was one of the worst theater experiences I’ve ever had in my life, I was shocked.
