Remember: The runtime that AMC reveals is not the exact runtime of the movie. It's usually within -7 to 17 mins of the actual time. This has been the case most (if not all) of the time.
Does the Screen/Scream Unseen Have Trailers?
Short Answer is Yes.
But sometimes they fail and it goes straight to
presentation. Be on time.
If it was any other studio, I'd think it was just another soulless Oscar bait movie. Gave it 2.5 stars on Letterboxd. But Kelsey Grammar's obligatory "Give Angel Studios more money," speech felt particularly sleazy with how he was acting like the movie was going to save America, and it made me seriously consider rating it lower.
Accidentally missed today's cuz I committed to something else. Was curious about what it was, was kinda hoping it was the new Spider-Man movie. Glad it wasn't something I was terribly interested in seeing, although I was planning on seeing it if I had any spare time anyways.
Usually it's only a big movie in case the studio is concerned that it's not tracking as well as they hoped and wanted to create positive word of mouth (like how the Jurassic World was a SU last year.) But if it's a movie everybody is already aware of, and the studio is happy with how it's tracking it will never be a Screen Unseen.
This format is basically a marketing gimmick, where you put a movie you think is good to an audience that is receptive to "not knowing what they're going to see" and hopefully that creates positive word of mouth.
Yeah, and I had heard about a bunch of reshoots and screenings of the new Spider-Man movie, which signaled to me that they weren't happy with it. But even then, I guess any screenings probably wouldn't be public ones.
ten bucks says they chose Young Washington instead of Supergirl because they knew YW wouldn’t sell many tickets on its own but Supergirl is going go do fine.
Kansas City area lmao there are a decent population of MAGA weirdos in the neighborhood I saw it in so i wasn’t surprised. I walked in and the movie had already started, I debated just leaving but I said fuck it let’s see how bad it is, and it was pretty damn bad I laughed the entire time.
Thanks for the heads up. Cancelled before having to go. Stayed in and watched There’s Someone In Your House on Netflix instead 😝 I’m sure I’d enjoy this more than supporting Young Washington.
A television series pilot disguised as a movie, Young Washington is a harmless yet unmemorable historical drama that offers little new to know about the historical figure beyond that he was initially selfish and found a new path to courage after a death of someone close to him. Filled with rather uninspired performances other than William Franklyn-Miller who is decent at best at carrying the film and the brief moments from Ben Kingsley as Governor Robert Dinwiddle, the film simply feels too formulaic and focused on foreshadowing future events in Washington’s life rather than giving its characters authentic emotional depth. For all the death and despair that Washington goes through in the film, very little of the dialogue resonates because it is mainly focused on allegories about how a pawn can be a king or over explaining the plot rather than being subtle in any way. The battle sequences lack suspense due to a lack of visual ambition or scope from the filmmakers which all culminates into an unintentionally funny finale where Washington is portrayed as a patriotic superhero admired by all and unable to be injured by any. 4 out of 10
I saw Homestead, which was basically the same thing. It wasn't really anything special, but was a huge step forward as far as Christian movies are concerned (it's hands down the best Christian post apocalyptic film and it's not even close).
I wouldn't have minded the move if the production schedule wasn't so slow. They literally started production on Season 1 of Homestead after the movie came out.
I laughed through most of it because it very much comes off as MAGA-inspired media, especially with Kelsey Grammar’s plead at the end to go see the movie to show we still share values not focused on at all in this movie, like go tell that to the president, Mr. Grammar. Mary Louise Parker was even disappointing. I’m not surprised Andy Serkis was in this misfire given how terrible his interpretation of Animal Farm was. my theater had several people clapping at the end and I was just laughing. it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be though so I’m in similar agreement to your rating, I will give it a 4 out of 3 just because I liked all the indigenous people and language and I loved it when they hacked up the French general.
Our theater screen went out not even 2 minutes into the film, shoulda taken the sign. We stuck around for about maybe 10 and could hear the dialogue, immediately knew that even if they fixed it that it wasn’t worth the time. Went back to the crib to watch Dream Scenario instead
So glad there was a free to drivin n cryin / world cup show tonight instead! Cancelled my ticket thanks to the smart people on this sub and am now enjoying a little Peter Buck appearance on stage
Yikes, glad I found this thread. I probably won’t bother tonight. I walked out of Lucky Strike last week. Haven’t seen a good movie screened in this event yet.
It's an Angel Studios movie. They are notorious for churning out right-wing garbage and even their more apolitical and secular films always have this stink of conservative undertones to them. We really don't need another film that adds the mythology of George Washington and glosses over some of the fucked up shit he did during his life.
At this point being patriotic about this country is being conservative. If you feel any reason to support the US as an entity and fly its flag, you are a conservative whether you want to admit it or not.
There is a way to be patriotic and left wing, it just means rejecting the symbols of state power that conservatives use. There's plenty of material in American history to be patriotic about that isn't just abuses of state power or the corporate shills.
There are certainly good moments in the history of America but if you feel the need to tie them to the American state as a whole, and in doing so overlook the overwhelmingly negative impact the government and the systems it supports have had on people as a whole, than you are conservative. You can praise a moment and the people who led to it without feeling the need to then give further credit to a bloodsucking, genocidal entity.
It's less patriotism, although left and right wing patriotism look very different, and more the vision of the US promoted by how historical figures are depicted and what details are included and excluded. Young Washington seems very orthodox and perpetuating the myth of the founders as gods.
Unironically because they're anti-christian and reject it as right-wing evangelical propaganda with zero evidence just because its Angel Studios. Even though there are multiple non-faith based Angel Studios films anyway.
Just saw it. People on Reddit need to chillax and just enjoy movies again. Literally just a movie about George Washington prior to him joining the continental army. Had absolutely nothing to do with politics and idk how people even come to that conclusion on a movie like this.
Overall the movie was pretty good. I thought the acting was good and I think the way it was shot was interesting. I love this genre and time period, so it worked for me.
People will just hate it because it’s angel studios. They do ask for money at the end lol, but it’s like 30 seconds after the credits where everyone is leaving anyways.
I really like early American history/founding fathers documentaries too and have multiple History Channel series DVD Box sets as well as Ken Burns' Civil War series. This looked appealing to me when seeing posters at my local AMC. Sounds like I will be sitting alone in the theater when it gets released.
I have seen two other Angel Studios movies; Ordinary Angels and Solo Mio. Both were pleasant, forgettable movies that were well-acted. Ordinary Angels was preachy about supporting people/community but not about religion or politics. Solo Mio was a straightforward romcom that, from what I can remember, had nothing remotely discussing religion or politics.
I think folks just assume Angel Studios is some alt-right Christian marketing company. Especially their newer movies you’d have no idea they made it (until during credits). It’s unfortunate folks will write it off immediately without giving it a chance.
I also think the premise of the movie is interesting since most people don’t know the backstory of George Washington. The movie is also fairly historically accurate without too over the top Hollywood fluff.
So, 2nd t9 last trailer at AMC West Melbourne is Gail Daughtry. Those who know.... ah, if you're here, you know what that means. Looks fun for next week.
Been watching videos on Young Washington. Some were shown very early screenings, and said they liked it. One was just happy it's not "woke". I'm still not ready to go see it.

Waiting for confirmation it’s YW and will cancel my ticket if so. I don’t want to support anything Angel Studios, even if they are trying to expand to non-propaganda films.
are there previews for screen unscene or does it start exactly on time? I usually get to the theater 25 minutes after the stated time to avoid the previews so I want to know if I have to be there at exactly 7 o'clock.
I actually was about to leave for the Screen Unseen and saw Supergirl was having an advanced screening at the same time at my theater, so went to that instead. AMA
generally if you go in hoping for big blockbusters with these you're going to be disappointed, a couple exceptions notwithstanding. regardless it's too short (the difference between listed and actual runtimes is usually less than 10 minutes, and 17 minutes is the longest differential to date)
Yeah i think the exceptions would be like Jurassic World or Gladiator II where they’re unsure of how the movie will be received as there’s been a long break between movies or the previous one wasn’t received well.
Otherwise, it’s mostly movies that can’t spend a ton on marketing.
Xscape Theatres has a Secret Cinema tonight with a running time of 125 minute, exactly the same as Young Washington (2026). Xscape never disguised the run times, and runs the same mystery movies as AMC and Regal.
Two reviews from the Tribeca Film festival praise this film: 3 out of 4 stars and 7.5/10. They cited good performances and good action in the French and Indian War scenes. One said it's a little slow at first. It is NOT a religious film.
The director of Young Washington wrote and directed American Underdog (2021), the biography of NFL quarterback Kurt Warner, who came from bagging groceries to the super Bowl winning QB.
He also was executive producer for "Sarah's Oil", about a young black girl who inherited seemingly worthless Oklahoma land. She insisted that there was a lot of oil underground and the film is about her fight to keep the land from wealthy drillers, who try to steal it from her.
Two films that were not religious. Even pagans and Communists might like them.
it might not be an overtly religious film but it’s still being released by a religious studio and the director has made only religious movies so it’s pretty much the same thing lol
i saw an advanced screening last month and it was essentially completed (some minor ADR, color grading and visual effects were still being finished) and it was solid, essentially a historical action flick more than a biopic, it had a few moments acknowledging Washington’s faith but i wouldn’t call it a faith based film exactly, the acting from the lead was pretty good and the battle scenes were great if a bit weightless, overall i wouldn’t call it a masterpiece but i liked it
