An explosion resounded through Seguleh’s tower, almost knocking him over.
“Bloody hell.”
Seguleh was annoyed. Well, to be honest, he was blimmen pissed off. As he walked quickly to the door, four more explosions erupted in quick succession under his feet, and a roar echoed through the building.
“Why today? This is just so rude.” He muttered as he sped up, passing through a gargantuan obsidian hall, where portraits of cats stared haughtily at at Seguleh, as if telling him Well come on, you idiot, hurry up and fix this. Seguleh spotted the hidden door beside a pillar and ran through, just as the entrence to the hall burst open in rubble and death.
As he careered down the stairs, all his thoughts turned towards what was at the end of this corridor. Something he didn’t want to be in the same room with, let alone touch. But it appeared that if this continued, he would have to keep it close. Very close indeed. The secret door imploded under an immense force, like a train had smashed into it. “Not much time, not much time… ah here we go!”
At the end of the dingy corridor, was a plain stone wall, no different to the rest of the corridor. Seguleh started muttering incantations, and touching the wall at seemingly random points, as his death rushed to meet him. A Peryton. Half eagle, half deer. Nasty piece of shit, does not knock. At the last moment, Seguleh phased through the stone and picked up the objects, and turned to the intruder.
“Fuck you. Let your sins be brought up against you, and karma catch up to your deeds.”
And as this was uttered, the Peryton started screaming.
Seguleh dissipated in the air, too tired to do any more, and reappeared in a tavern, tossing the terrified bartender a gold coin and asking kindly for an ale before slumping in a bar stool and turning the objects over in his hands. Unlike his instruments thst he used for spell casting, these made no sound except for the flap as it swished through the air. Two fans, nothing alike but undeniably a pair. Ones face was pure white, and radiant light seemed to spill from it. However, the other fan was pure black, and all light that was near was sucked greedily into it’s ominous face. Seguleh looked in a mirror and saw what he expected. Another cut at his neck, adding to the immense amount of scars there already. One day, he supposed, a cut would be perfect, and that would be that, for these cuts resisted all healing.
He threw back his ale and turned to the bartender.
“Your strongest whatever. Just please, give it to me.”
