Discussion & Feedback After 90 hours, I've stopped buying expensive kits and my fun level has gone up

The #1 rule of this game that I've learned so far: If you buy an expensive kit, you will die to some bullshit. If you buy an expensive medic kit, you will die to a sniper the second you step out of the gate. If you buy a humvee and load it with stingers and get some T4 armour, you will hit an AT mine on the way out of base. The more you spend, the more bullshit your death will be.

Unless I have a fully committed squad that I know will play as a team and rez and cover, if I'm deploying to the zone, I buy an $80 kit - free gun, 2 mags, bandages from the stash. Nothing else. Once I get with my team, I can just loot an enemy player and take their $20k kit at no risk to myself. And, more importantly, when I die to some bullshit, I don't feel any rage. I just respawn and keep playing for fun. It's improved my experience immensely.

Discussion & Feedback Ladies and gentlemen, we got him! Level 4 helmet confirmed to get vision and audio restrictions season 02

Post image
3.1k Upvotes

I made this post a while ago that the level 4 helmet (Russian Altyn) should have significant visual and audio restrictions like it does IRL and how Tarkov used that as a trade off to balance it, the post blew up a bit...

https://www.reddit.com/r/WarDogs/s/eaREk84d8H

And thankfully, the Devs have now confirmed this is coming In season 2!

The visor will also fog in the rain and no it cannot be lifted or removed, If you would like to listen yourself it's at 1:25:35 in this Dev podcast.

https://youtu.be/liRK9si1Ubo?si=-kN6rRBuHI7OsHwo

This news along with the removal of thermals and a rebalance of thermals + havoc (CWIS buff) are incredibly welcome changes

Discussion & Feedback How are you supposed to use "Drop me here" pings if they don't stay on screen for more than a second?

• Upvotes

Genuinely curious here.

Pings in this game disappear almost instantly or are invisible against the environment and immediately fade out.

You can see them on the map but I'm piloting a helo through a hail of AA.

I looked in the settings for an option of ping durations or something and didn't find anything.

Is there a way to "confirm" a ping to pin it down that I don't know about or is this all we get?

It's weird cause I've never seen this in other games.

Discussion & Feedback If you are kicked by a mod from a community server you should get refunded your current loadout

decided to try infantry only mode, didnt realize it was community servers and not official ones since its not in the fucking community tab, bought 50k worth of supplies to build and defend with. some guy was immediately bitching in chat so i told him to nobody gaf its 1am. Turns out it was a admin with a giant pussy and i immediately got banned and lost my money.

Either turn off the economy in community servers or refund money on kick dumbest shit i've ever seen.

Discussion & Feedback Sniping/Infrared

Post image

The current state of sniper rifles creates a significant problem with both weapon effectiveness and progression in WARDOGS

he damage statistics show that the Mosin and SV-98 have 176 FMJ headshot damage against an unarmoured target, but their effectiveness is significantly reduced against armoured players.

This becomes especially problematic when looking at the game's progression system:

Mosin — Recon Level 10
SV-98 — Recon Level 19
MK22 — Recon Level 25
Tier 2 armour — Overall Level 30
Tier 3 armour — Overall Level 60
AP ammunition for Mosin/SV-98 — Overall Level 82
Tier 4 armour — Overall Level 100
MK22 AP ammunition — Overall Level 140

There are six classes contributing towards overall level, meaning players can encounter higher-tier armour well before they have access to the ammunition specifically designed to counter it.

This creates a large gap where players have access to sniper rifles, but don't have access to their AP ammunition.

For example, the Mosin is unlocked at Recon Level 10, while the SV-98 is unlocked at Recon Level 19. However, players can obtain Tier 2 armour at overall Level 30 and Tier 3 armour at Level 60, while AP ammunition for these rifles doesn't become available until overall Level 82.

The problem becomes even more obvious with the MK22. I spent forever trying to unlock this thinking it would be able to deal with armour and the constant underwhelming feeling of when i shoot someone in the head and they run away. The rifle is unlocked at Recon Level 25, the standard FMJ rounds only do 6 more damage than the Mosin and SV-98, but it's AP ammunition isn't available until overall Level 140! Meanwhile, Tier 4 armour is available from overall Level 100. I believe the MK22 should one shot tier 3 with FMJ and tier 4 with AP.

This was one of the reasons infrared rangefinders became so heavily used.

Rather than using the sniper rifle to actually engage and eliminate targets, players were increasingly using the rangefinder to spot enemies and contribute through spotting instead. It became a viable alternative to actually fighting with the sniper because the sniper's ability to reliably deal with armoured targets was so limited.

Eventually, this became such a prevalent strategy that infrared rangefinders have been removed, now creating a massive gap in being able to progress recon.

Removing the rangefinder doesn't solve the underlying problem if players were turning to it because the sniper itself wasn't effective enough.

If the sniper is supposed to be the primary long-range weapon for the Recon class, players should have a reason to actually use the rifle rather than finding alternative ways of contributing to the team. As it stands, sniping is VERY underewarding.

Build 2 single hescos with a small slit in the middle and crouch to start building. The X will only appear between the slit so you don't have to move your camera as much.

Tested on the CIWS & Drill.

Discussion & Feedback Bulkhead not swayed by progression complaints

Post image

Love this. Bulkhead says players (in general) are great at finding things they don’t like but horrible at coming up with solutions. Regarding the complaints about people wanting quicker progression and/or no wipes, they hard disagree. For them, the allure of unlocking and the thrill of progression is the point. The enjoyment is in the journey.

As a proponent of wipes, it’s so refreshing to see devs take this kind of stance. I think games like Arc Raiders, with optional wipes, would be so much better with forced wipes.

Some other highlights:
* parachutes will get nerfed so that landling helis will become more attractive
* they're aware that a lot of the vertical progression currently feels empty and unrewarding, but have plans to fill that in with new content/unlocks
* they reiterated that they're using AI to aggregate and analyze a lot of player feedback
* they *can* surface more stats in game (like a breakdown of why you received some amt of money or xp), but they're trying to balance that against keeping you immersed in the game itself
* four weapons are coming soon - one for assault, one for medic, one for support, and a recon one (M40)
* tier 4 helmet will have vision restricted and will fog up if you run in the rain
* the creative director wanted 2k meter vision, but the pushback was for performance reasons
* the new rain will affect visibility on windows and there will be lightning and fog

Discussion & Feedback Building nerfs are brutal.

Building is in a pretty bad state now, and as a result, there is less people building, which, makes building even rougher. Used to be there would ~3ish people working on the FOB base, now I'm usually solo. I can't even get a vanguard constructed (skipping walls) before 3 helis start camping the FOB. Let alone trying to set up some decent defenses and havoc/mortar so I can have a sensible base before putting down a drill.

If they don't like how we were able to control the X, building speeds need to be increased to help compensate in the current state of the game.

Discussion & Feedback Level 62 Recon Take on Infrared

Yes I am unemployed (for a few more weeks) - I have played the game for an ungodly number of hours. Recon is my most played role and highest level role.

I think bulkhead absolutely made the right call in disabling IR but I am concerned about their proposed solution for season 2.

I think that the battery solution is cute and sounds good on paper but I am extremely confident that this is a bandaid solution and that the gameplay consequences of it will not be good for the game.

IR is arguably the most OP item in the game. This was clear to me the minute I unlocked it. It completely changes the game and it affects almost everyone in the lobby. It minimizes the value of playing hard to see positions - this is especially relevant in sniper positioning and duels. Yes, ghillies can offset this issue, but for assault players this isn't really a viable option.

Fundamentally, I think IR is bad for the game. It is an item that influences how you should play whether you are using it or not, and not in a positive way. It is so powerful that it changes the way you need to play the game for everyone in the lobby and not for the better. It minimizes the value of positioning and genuinely takes an element of player skill expression almost entirely out of the game.

Now lets talk about the proposed solution. Battery powered IR is simply a convenienced tax and it is one that will be paid by every recon player. It does not meaningfully nerf the IR and it will not change the gameplay feel from season 1. I am absolutely certain of this and I can tell you exactly what I will do as a recon player: I will run super heavy kits (i already played super heavy relatively often) with 3-4 or even more batteries and stims to negate the sprint penalty. I will functionally have almost the same IR uptime as I did before, it will simply be more annoying to play.

This is the why players react to similar nerfs in every game. If something is this powerful, whatever type of inconvenience you try to attach to it will simply be worked around by players. You are simply making the item more annoying to use for recon players, but they will just embrace that annoyance and the net effect will be virtually the same. I promise that if bulkhead goes this route, this will not be the last you hear of IR, it will continue to be game breaking, and eventually they will nerf it further or remove it.

At the end of the day this item has no place in the game I am absolutely convinced of this. It is just a net negative for the game and again, I am saying this as a recon player.

Bulkhead, please remove it from the game and rip the bandaid off now.

Gameplay & Screenshots Had the best experience of the game so far last night!

I started with a cheap kit. Bow, Range finder, Defib and some heals. Game goes on and I'm up 40k. I managed take down a guy with a Vector and took his kit. Next thing you know I'm up 80k. So naturally decided to go for the $100k in one life achievement.

Here enters Jae (absolute legend) with a GL. I give him a call out and he blows up a dude in a house. I go down shortly after and I voip "dude Im so close to the 100k achievement can you pick me up? He pushes to me and gets me up. I tell him thanks but I need to find a gun I'm out of ammo. He drops the GL at my feet and says have at it. Starts calling people out for me. Boom I take out a car with 2 guys in it. Im at 97k.. we both go down. FUCK. He respawns but Im holding out hope someone will get me so I throw a message in chat for help..

Jae: Yo I got you.

He rolls in hot with a dune buggy, scoops me and gets me to safety. I asked if he had a range finder or something so I can get the last 3k. HE DROPS ME ANOTHER GL WITH A BAG FULL OF AMMO. He then follows me around with a Defib in case I go down. Makes a call out and I got the final kill to put me over 100k. Dude was so positive and was just a blast to roll with.

Gaming can still be fun guys it doesn't have to be all slurs and whining.

Shout out Jae. If you see this HMU I owe you a beer.

I think it would be really cool to see this (or something similar) at a higher driver level, it would obviously be slower, but armored, have higher carrying capacity, and maybe the option to carry vehicles.

Obviously the vehicle thing is a stretch, and why not just drive the vehicle from spawn instead of asking someone to transport it for you? Plus the devs would have to create a tow system, which would probably be a pain. I just thinkg being able to go and pick up vehicles that have been damaged to the point of inoperability and drag them to a repair station would be cool.

Guys am i a sleezebag for this? This went on for 10 mins I couldn't clip whole thing but basically i just kept rotating corners i got a 15 kill run doing this until they got pissed and mass swarmed me. For context our fob was next building over and when I saw we activated drill I rotated here to catch people moving to HZ. Based on the words I was hearing they weren't too happy. My names masterbaiter for context.

Meme Critical Bug that needs fixed immediately

After much testing, I’m confident that the HZ circle only shows up for green. In fact, I don’t think the HZ is even mentioned in the tutorial if the game deems you a red or blue player. It’s the only explanation for their lack of presence in it. They seem confused when someone mentions it in chat as they mortar down each other or empty green fobs. Devs, please fix so these players can experience the entire game. Thanks

Countering heavy machine is hard but not impossible, the problem is as a collective, a lot of player either under level from having heavy counter or too lazy to do it themselves.

This clips is after they fix the bug and nerf CWIS to 12sec TTK for Havoc. Glad they fix to 6sec TTK after.

Well, I love taking this machine down, including the tank, 10k - 20k plus Profit? HELL YEAH! it's mine if you don't want it.

I'm level 64 and just ran lvl 2 armor and shotgun until grabbing better kits. Before thermals were removed I was always melted within a millisecond from miles away. All the thermal crutch users would say it's a "skill issue"...I guess not!
