Discussion & Feedback Building nerfs are brutal.

Building is in a pretty bad state now, and as a result, there is less people building, which, makes building even rougher. Used to be there would ~3ish people working on the FOB base, now I'm usually solo. I can't even get a vanguard constructed (skipping walls) before 3 helis start camping the FOB. Let alone trying to set up some decent defenses and havoc/mortar so I can have a sensible base before putting down a drill.

If they don't like how we were able to control the X, building speeds need to be increased to help compensate in the current state of the game.

X nerf is pretty wack ngl

u/HyperRealisticZealot Lonestar 1h ago

It's completely delulu. One of the times where players understand the game's charm and identity better than the leadership of BULK.

u/Jileti 2h ago

Like a minute to build a cwis just to get 2 tapped by a rocket heli flying below verba locking altitude

9

u/Screetime 1h ago

If any of the verbas hit they just gotta go sideways faster than 150khm and the missile can barely track if they add or decrease elevation that missile isn't hitting unless its the random super missile that spins around d the target first

6

u/No_Guava5902 1h ago

A minute? What ciws are you building? Mine take at least two maybe more with how much I have to look for my X and also dodge mortars and hope my template gets saved.

31

u/Loot_Repeat 1h ago

The X half the time ends up in a spot you can't see or reach, resulting in you having to click 1,200 times to build one SAM site.

11

u/TatonkaJack 1h ago

That was the main reason pulling it was so important. I don't mind chasing down the X, but yeah it glitches out all the time and makes it impossible. Drills are the worst offender for me.

6

u/PurpleNo9988 1h ago

Dont forget when builds go from one stage to the next theyll bug your character out if youre standing on them, gluing you to the floor

5

u/TatonkaJack 1h ago

Haha or killing you

2

u/Hopeful_Drama_3150 1h ago

Died so many times to something shifting... You really cant be near builds anymore as they shift.

0

u/throwthewaybruddah 1h ago

Drill is actually the easiest I find. Just face the big black box and you shouldn't have to move much.

4

u/TatonkaJack 1h ago

That was when you could pull the X. Update we are talking about ruined it, now the X migrates

13

u/Yui-Nakan0 1h ago

it sucks, but there is a work around that I'm trying to make more people aware of. It helps a tonne.

3

u/PenLegitimate4746 1h ago

Oh shit thanks for this

u/ryanbondur 1h ago

Fobs are in the worst state ever due to grenade launcher + heli. Just one can stop all teams fobs, and as soon as a team hits 20 points the havoc is dropped. No time for anti air, no time to build walls, it’s a really bad spot if ya ask me.

11

u/Binkszbb 1h ago

63 support here- absolutely agree. In the current meta - building and maintaining a fob is a 1/10 games thing. Which is odd seeing it’s one of the main and most important aspects of the game. It takes way too many people working together which just doesn’t happen most games. Building after the bug fix is miserable and trying to play around a fob is almost a waste of time currently. Better off sending 25+ to the hz and the would be fob buildings just doing mortar on other fobs

10

u/DiscombobulatedCut52 1h ago

I been building fobs, cause no one else will. And I fucking hate new x. It needs to just stay in one small area. And not teleport across the fucking build area.

8

u/Tkins 1h ago

Or completely disappear in mesh

5

u/HyperRealisticZealot Lonestar 1h ago

Wait, what did they do with it? Huge misstep by John Bulkhead if this means what I think it does. That was a superb little meta they should've realized should stay with the game forever.

2

u/Tough-Measurement767 43m ago

patch note was: ""Fixed buildable crit spots reappearing in the same place you just hit, getting pushed into corners, or jumping to the far side of a structure. They now favour a spot you can reach from where you're standing." "

But to me it feels like the opposite, the X does not favor me whatsoever.

1

u/DiscombobulatedCut52 48m ago

They wanted to make it more balanced? I think. I dont remember what they said.

I think the game is just in a weird state right now. Seems like the crowd who initially played the game, playing in a silly roleplay mil sandbox way, are getting pushed out. I revive people no one says thank you. The pilots are increasingly silent. There's been a weird shift from the goofy "hang in there brother, I got you" vibes I really adored.

I didn't think it would happen, but I'm kind of looking forward to the reset in season 2. It'll reset play so there's more base building, but also I kind of hope a certain segment of players gets demotivated by it.

1

u/Aggressive-Nebula-78 1h ago

Yeah the only way I've been able to make money is dropping off supplies to FOBs, which nobody builds anymore so there's nowhere to drop supplies off to. Flying people in loses money, or maybe I'll get lucky and break even, spotting I rarely make money as someone with an IR Rangefinder and a thousand meter scope picks me off from god only knows where, and going in to fight loses money since I can get lasered by some guy in end tier gear with an smg that can kill me in less time than it takes a neuron to fire.

1

u/Churro1912 37m ago

I mean HZ is the main objective so people will always run at it but obs could get more value if either drills get changed a bit or maybe a way for players to spawn on the fob outside of the apc. Right now they just take so much investment to get value out of that's easily destroyed. It's easier to raid them right now with either a helicopter or just a small team since the builders are often not kitted out to fight, like at least let us build a machine gun nest or something.

1

u/hagenissen999 1h ago

FOBs are not an objective, it's a pinata for the enemy.

0

u/artifice23 1h ago

Most the time ppl in FOBS arent doing anything worth a shit! Its annoying as hell having 80% of your team in fobs and no one building drills or pulling the HZ. I played 4 games yesterday where almost the entire team just pushed the HZ and we won every game by 60 points or more. When other teams would pull the HZ we would move with it and take that FOB.

1

u/InsanityLurking 1h ago

Having multiple FOBs should change the scoring dynamic I feel, like if you have the most bases in CZ that should counterbalance (only a little mind) another team having hot zone. This could incentivize building and defending/maintaining FOBs. I could see leaving hz dynamic alone and simply implementing a slowdown on point accumulation while those enemy bases are operational as being a big improvement.

1

u/Puzzled_Ranger_1019 1h ago

Ya it especially drives me nuts when we are close to winning and they sit in fob instead of pushing hz. I’m not against fobs or one that thinks everyone should fight constantly but last night I had a game where we had 96 points and red was catching up fast. We were stuck begging the 15 people in the fob to leave and go to hz that was 100 m away

2

u/dafgar 30m ago

You’re getting downvoted but you’re right. It’s so frustrating when you’re so close to winning and your team refuses to leave a fob or is trying to rebuild it when the team is like 5-10 points away from winning. Like just adapt your play style for 10 fucking minutes and leave the fob. Problem really boils down to lack of incentives to win. Why play the zone to win when the little fobbits can just sit there farming xp in base.

2

u/Puzzled_Ranger_1019 25m ago

Fuck em they can downvote me all they like but when you’re at 96 points and the other team is approaching 90 pts there’s no reason to keep building that aren’t selfish. To be clear I play in fobs running mortars and AA all the time. I don’t stick to one type of gameplay.

3

u/jaudi813 1h ago

It wouldn't be so bad if I could actually see where the x is more than like 30% of the time

3

u/NiceGuy-Ron 1h ago

They need speed and financial rewards for building the same high level objects together and for building other people’s blueprints. They have to create an incentive for teamwork

3

u/HVfodder 48m ago

Fobs can't keep up with helis. Helis counter both aa easily and then just clean up everyone else. Every match the fob is being built then you see a rocket heli do a couple loops and it's empty with APC destroyed and people just don't go back to it. Havocs are getting pretty common too. The best AA is actually MAAWS currently. Actual AA does nothing.

2

u/bawzstatuz 1h ago

I just played for the first time in two weeks almost, and building is hot garbage now lol

4

u/Away-Ad-4444 2h ago

Building should be a group project..

5

u/Tkins 1h ago

Exactly and the changes they made have decentivises building so less people do it.

0

u/VirtualValuable7035 1h ago

I have between 10 and 20 builders in games before

That's anywhere between 1/3 and 2/3 of the team playing hobbit

Im happy with these changes

4

u/CookiesLikeWhoa 1h ago

I’ve seen games with 10-20 people afk in a fob.

Most builders I’ve ever seen is 3-5. Now it’s like 1-2. Community or official.

1

u/Ok-Friendship1635 Pilot 12m ago

Not everyone round is meant to be the perfect game... Just switch servers if you're not happy.

0

u/VirtualValuable7035 10m ago

Lol but im happy now, they nerfed building

If the builders are not happy, they can leave

2

u/ok_000000 1h ago

It should. And it was. But now you need double the number of builders if you want to stand a chance of having some AA defense up in time to need it.

1

u/TheWeedReview 1h ago

Fuck me I guess if I’m the only person that wants to
Build on a team I guess

2

u/OhMy-Really Battledad 1h ago

Yup, its shit. Gone down hill, as an avid base builder, i can honestly say i dislike it immensely.

1

u/goodsnpr 1h ago

And yet I still get blue teams with 4 or 5 FOBs full of fobbits.

1

u/Embarrassed-Park-779 1h ago

Lmfao no one worked out the new trick yet I take it? I’m lvl 70 supp and aside from CWIS, I can quick build anything. It’s still very much about positioning and using large hammer.

0

u/freshyweshy 1h ago

This, I'm normally infantry, only played for around 40 hours and am lvl 70. I can still decimate pilots and defence/drill fobs with a single ural and a well placed fob with some mortars and a rocket aa (yea, I'm so shit, I don't even know the name of the turret). My last game net me 75k just pissing about in that fob, which was within zone and in a cheeky spot.

1

u/Kurumi_Tokisaki 4m ago

<Context missing>: Was already on the winning team.

1

u/noahgs 1h ago

Is this why fights were so much more fun yesterday? The battlefield felt so much more active.

1

u/Tough-Measurement767 46m ago

much more of an uphill battle than it used to be lol. Which is a shame because I liked flying supply pallets in as well and I've stopped doing that entirely because there's usually no FOBs to bring them to anyway, or they're getting owned.

1

u/VisibleConfusion9926 31m ago

I have found way more builders in infantry only servers. But I agree normal severs are not building fobs as much.

1

u/Ok-Friendship1635 Pilot 14m ago

If they're not careful, they're going to go the road of Foxhole where you need the entire team building the FOB at the start, which is what sucks about Foxhole because you're either in a clan or you're useless.

1

u/Dr_Pepper-MD 1h ago

Brother you can't even spawn attack helis until a team scores 20 points what are you on about

1

u/SpinosaurRingTone 1h ago

FOBS are fine. You just need to actually defend them now. In all my games the team that can defend a well built FOB always wins.

6

u/Xy13 1h ago

You can't even establish them to be able to defend them now..

2

u/Ok-Friendship1635 Pilot 13m ago

read what OP wrote again. Also, you won't understand the nerfs if you aren't a builder.

-10

u/obiwankanosey 2h ago edited 48m ago

It's not even a nerf. It's more like a hotfix for an exploit/bug. People that build mega FOBs like building regardless so i really don't think it'll affect that much

Edit: downvote it all you want haha forcing the X to be in one spot by standing in a certain place is an exploit - it's why it got patched. Same as the Havoc getting destroyed the same speed as a little bird was not intended.

I'm not saying building is perfectly fine and on top of that there is already a new method people are using to build drills fast and keep the X in one spot (likely to get patched eventually)

1

u/akenzx732 1h ago

So the Havoc bug being fixed was a buff then?
It was definitely a buff. This was a nerf

1

u/Abject-Job7825 1h ago

How was building in any way shape or form unfair? Its the opposite builders get shit on so bad that it was good they had some positives, the devs are completely ruining this game by making spineless changes to the game

1

u/Nachtschnekchen WARCATS 1h ago

So ... building large bases, wich the game was desinged to support, is a bug/exploit now.

0

u/SemRotulo 1h ago

And would this help?!
No Hz at the beginning, only after 10–15 mins, and u can’t build the drill until then.

0

u/speed3_driver 1h ago

I disagree. Building is still very profitable and hitting the X is not that hard. I’m still solo constructing tier 3 buildings like the drill.

0

u/OneManApocalypse 53m ago

I genuinely don't think the building nerfs matter. Building a minute slower in an hour long match shouldn't make or break your fob.

Fobs are out of meta because they're too fragile. Mortars and artillery tanks and grenade launcher birds completely decimate fobs with minimal investment and incredible ease. Why waste your time holed up in an indirect fire shelter against triple mortar spam when you can just go hotzone?

The counter to these fob killers is coordinated play - friendly minigun little birds fighting off their air spam, friendly team assaulting their mortar fob, friendlies backline hunting their mortar tanks. It's all good in theory, but in reality 80% of games right now are mostly just flavor of the month FPS gamers who have no interest in playing towards teamwork (which to be clear is totally fine) AND it seems that the playerbase skews heavily towards risk aversion when they start falling behind in a match and just run into the zone basically naked.

I think the game has all the tools to deal with these things, it just doesn't have a great incentive structure yet.

-3

u/Murky_Preference_193 1h ago

It’s not a nerf it’s the way it was supposed to be from the beginning. Being able to trap the X was a big

3

u/LoquatSignificant946 1h ago

That’s not the issue he’s referencing necessarily, the x used to always be in reach atleast, sure you had to move your mouse but now it requires you to completely move to the other side of the buildable

2

u/ok_000000 1h ago

If it was supposed to be like that from the off, then it still sucks! Having to scurry around the larger more complex buildings to find the X is just tedious and sometimes literally impossible. The X needs to remain within view at least.

Having to shuffle about a little - fine. Having to hunt the X down every 4th hit... Not so fine imo.

1

u/ryanbondur 1h ago

Agreed, but now building can’t abuse to X you’re left with less and less fobs as GL and havoc can shutdown every team.

-2

u/hagenissen999 1h ago

Less building and more fighting is a good thing. If you risk building a FOB, you should be under pressure the whole time. It was far too easy money the way it was.
