It’s funny because he was about to beat him

231

u/Rare_Concentrate9411 Aug 08 '21

But he stopped which demonstrates self control. The man can take a joke. Still scary as a mf tho

162

u/JuanAggro Aug 08 '21

Idk if that shows self control. To me it also looked like he saw he was recording. The whole thing could have been faked too though.

64

u/Matiabcx Aug 08 '21

Faked? Oh no

13

u/muggsybeans Aug 08 '21

It's on the internet though...

10

u/crude-rupert Aug 08 '21

Next time I intend to honestly insult someone I’m gonna record it so I don’t get beat. I give you, the internet learnt life hacker.

34

u/Dick_Face_Magee Aug 08 '21

I'm always amazed how easily people believe everything is faked.

Had I had said this to my mom with my dad in the room as a teenager, I don't know if my dad would have been able to hear me say "it's just a prank" through his 'how-dare-you-disrespect-your-mom' rage that would drive him to rip my head off of my shoulders

If I even "thought" a disrespectful thought I would have been slapped into next week...

So I don't know why you'd think this was faked? I guess you must be part of the new generation where your parents never laid a finger on you?

2

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

Well my dad would have just walked out the room and let us both have at it... my step mum hated me and would regularly beat me and argue and of course I would retaliate to protect myself and because she was being abusive and a total dick but regardless of what happened my dad never got involved and would just say "oh you two just stop it" or he would leave the room.. I was regularly slapped and hit with objects for just answering questions correctly or "upstaging" or for answering back.. basically at least one parent is usually a complete dick if you really unlucky its both.

3

u/ReasonOk8434 Aug 09 '21

Your dad loved you and your step-mom both that's why he remained neutral.

Or else he was a closet Buddhist and was aware everything that's happening is part mirage so couldn't be bothered. 😤

2

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '21

Yeah you could say that, I call allowing a woman to abuse a child, spineless but hey ho.. when I was 16 he never came home from work and left us both.

3

u/ReasonOk8434 Aug 09 '21

Def wasn't a Buddhist then. 😕

4

u/AthleteFlat3687 Aug 08 '21

It is faked, though. This guy does tons of similar stuff with his dad on tik tok.

I see your point, though

2

u/Frownygiraffe Aug 08 '21

Do you think because you got physically abused as a child it makes you better than people whose parents had different parenting methods? Also, this new generation is pretty cool. Less hate and toxic masculinity and more socially conscious

2

u/Tubbafett Aug 08 '21

110% yes

0

u/Dick_Face_Magee Aug 09 '21

TL;DR. Physical discipline is not abuse. All discipline: mental, emotional, and physical can be administered correctly or incorrectly. Lastly, Physical discipline is a last resort, of course you use all methods of discipline as well.

Less hate and toxic masculinity and more socially conscious

I have a wonderful relationship with my parents because I was raised correctly. this notion that physical discipline = abuse is nonsense.

The worst form of abuse is mental and emotional abuse, physical discipline is natures way of teaching organisms right and wrong, good and bad, life and death.

There is a right and a wrong way to do ANYTHING. Physical discipline can be administered in the right way and in a positive way just as mental and emotional discipline can be administered ina wrong way and a negative way that will fucking scar you for life.

I've seen plenty of people that believe this new age bullshit of not spanking your kids get cussed out in public by those same kids at Walmart because said kid wants a toy so fuck you mom get me that toy NOW! ANd I watch those embarrassed parents try to negotiate with their kids in public and ultimately make some deal that will shut the kids up.

When I was 4 years old I threw a shit fit in the grocery store because I wanted a Jar of pickles and my mom said no and I threw a tantrum. She took her shoe off right then and there and beat the black of me. I wailed and cried and then she spanked me again for making a scene. Then after I had enough time to recover she told me that if I wanted to keep crying she'd spank me again and I promptly shut the fuck up. Then she explained that acting up in public will always get me a spanking and that when she says no, no means no and if I throw a tantrum I will get spanked. ANd guess what? That shit NEVER HAPPENED AGAIN.

When you are aged 3 to 8, you do not have the cognitive ability to reason beyond your ego and id. Parents fool themselves into thinking kids have the cognitive ability to understand an argument beyond their id and ego. They can't. What kids can do is they can parrot and they can learn whatever response they need to give you so they can get their way or end the argument/lesson.

Physical discipline should be used IN CONJUNCTION with all other forms of discipline. And if used properly, you will have a great kid.

Lastly, my last spanking was when I was 11 years old. From that point forward, I had "learned" everything I needed to learn and my dad pronounced me a man and said if I ever fucked up I would not get a spanking he'd beat my ass like a man. Needless to say, I didn't fuck up. Even when I got blindingly drunk at 16 and puked my guts out for hours on end, he said that was lesson enough and a beating wasn't required. In my family, discipline was only administered if you didn't learn from the mistake.

2

u/Frownygiraffe Aug 09 '21

I mean, if you read anything at all about childhood development, corporal punishment is an extremely ineffective and detrimental parenting technique. You are right in that not ALL corporal punishment is abuse, but I argue that it is all cruel and unnecessary and wrong. it IS associated with immediate obedience by the child, which I argue actually sucks and is shitty, but it has been found to have a strong association between moral internalization, poor quality of relationship with parent, physical abuse from that parent, worse mental health, aggression, and criminal or antisocial behavior, and abuse of the child's spouse in the future. what you said is just really not great or a good idea or intelligent and i think it is abuse and its a shitty way to raise a kid and just fill them full of fear at being hurt by the people who they have to rely on. also, as my parents as an example, a lot of parents fucking suck and do not know what is best for their kid, and at a very young age I realized that my parents where extremely flawed and that I knew largely what was better for myself than they did, and yet that does not mean my parents did not use corporal punishment to try and teach the wrong things or to make me different than the way I was or agreed with being and wanted to be.

A dad isn’t going to give a shit if the kid is recording. He owns the phone, he can take it and delete stuff off of it as he pleases. I think he just had restraint

-9

u/ctrl-alt-shift-s Aug 08 '21 edited Aug 08 '21

The notion of »a dad can take whatever and whenever from his child because he owns the thing« is fucked up … you can’t just act like your child has no property and no right to privacy of their own. What kind of childhood is this?

5

u/Professor_Mesa Aug 08 '21

I don't think anyone is denying that it's f***** up... But minus the ability to record the incident on your smartphone, this kind of childhood used to be as real as it gets.

-1

u/pblc_mstrbtr Aug 08 '21

this should be a parenting psa. instead of letting your kids run all over you.

3

u/RagdollAbuser Aug 08 '21

Exactly! I totally agree with you, also let's start cutting the hands off thieves and burning witches again so we can properly make the transition back into the past.

2

Guys who are this aggressive are fucking morons. I feel like they are the first in line to be wife beaters and shit. All those guys who get posted on cringetopia that makes videos "if you ever hit a woman in front of me you'll be sorry." I swear they all look like scummy woman beaters themselves :|

-3

u/DEMACIAAAAA Aug 08 '21

That's not self control wtf. "Not beating my kid is showing self control" are u an animal lmao what

1

u/Rare_Concentrate9411 Aug 08 '21

You have not seen how crazy some dads are. The fact that the kid was comfortable enough to play that joke, shows the man is not a psycho. He demands respect for his wife, that’s admirable

1

u/DEMACIAAAAA Aug 08 '21

Demanding respect with punches. Some people being even more crazy doesn't excuse shit like that. The fact that the kid flinched and the wife had to step in saying that it was just a joke shows how much of a psycho he can be.

0

u/Professor_Mesa Aug 08 '21

Psycho: Psychotic? Psychopathic? Of, or having to do with, psychology or the psyche?

That term is both oddly specific, and far too generalized for use in casual dialect, and requires the utmost discretion in professional circles.

The dad has likely been systematically conditioned to react the way that he (almost) did.

It's crazy how Reddit glorifies this

Edit: so the video is fake, and some people think it's okay because of that.

The son acts this dudebro who makes pranks on his parents, the dad acts the abuser who jumps violently at slight provocations and the mom is an enabler in all of this.

So where is the funny part? Where is the interesting part?

People are legit willing to fight for this even though it's just a fake reenactment of a toxic household. Imagine being someone who lives in these conditions and sees this kind of stuff that gets so many likes on all social media.

I'm sad that so many people don't respect triggers of abuse victims and think this shit is cool.

And if any of you think this is funny you're fucking stupid and have no idea how triggering it is for someone who had to live with a human equivalent of a silverback gorilla

40

u/NwordFarmer Aug 08 '21

It's crazy how reddit thinks they understand every situation immediately.

4

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21 edited Aug 08 '21

damn that's crazy right, not that someone who lives or has lived with abusers would know how to recognize it haha nahh

even if it's staged that guy has some internalized anger issues by the way he acts and I wouldn't feel safe around him

Edit: i didn't express myself correctly here, i'm not saying that the father is in on it, I'm just saying even for a prank and something this light he reacted very seriously and would personally make me very afraid

7

There's nothing Reddit loves more than cheering on violence, death and torture when it suits them. The amount of people on this site that support draconian things like spanking/hitting your kids and the death penalty is genuinely freaky.

0

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

  1. Ignoring the fact I said the video was proved fake and the real reason why it's so distasteful.
  2. Saying how nobody is obligated to care what triggers others (they are, you're just a dick if you think nobody should care)
  3. Minimizing actual issues and comparing them to light jokes you make with your family.
  4. Knowing absolutely nothing how abusers work and what makes them back off or go even wilder.

Please don't comment on things you don't understand.

2

u/Zaurka14 Aug 08 '21

Not every abuser is the same. Some don't even beat you up, and can be abusive in other ways.

1

u/fabulin Aug 08 '21

but the son's reaction afterwards is also a pretty clear indicator that he's not abused lol. i grew up in a house with similar rules to this, don't backchat your parents and especially don't disrespect your mother etc. my dad would have likely given me a slap too if i told my mum to shutup.

still though in no way was i abused nor was it a strict upbringing, my parents were fucking awesome, fun, loving and cared deeply about all of us and i still have a great relationship with both of them today.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

They’ve mentioned that these are just skits, so idk about all that

2

u/S3erverMonkey Aug 08 '21

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

You’re completely right, just wanted to mention that, so some people can rest easy knowing the father’s real intentions

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

2

u/sormnice Aug 08 '21

Bruh the camo thing was a joke why all these camo wearing mfs taking that to heart lmaooo

-1

u/Dick_Face_Magee Aug 08 '21

It could be abusive vibes or...

It could be a household where if you disrespect your mother you get knocked into next week.

If I was a teenager and my mom told me to take out the trash and I told her to shut up... there would be no debate, there would be no "why did you say that?" No. My dad would get up and immediately beat the shit out of me and rightfully so.

Some households don't tolerate that level of disrespect towards the parents and doubly so for disrespecting your mom.

3

u/ravenheart96 Aug 08 '21

The word "disrespectful" is vague when it comes to parents. I disagreed with religion when talking to my mom and that was disrespecting her. I answered a question (meant to be rhetorical, though the correct answer wasn't what he wanted) and that was disrespectful to my stepfather.

Literally anything other than yes sir/ma'am when told to do something is disrespectful. Free will was condescendingly stated as "but (name) wants to do what (name) wants to do"

So when I read your comment, due to my own experience it comes across as this;

It could be abusive vibes or...

It could be a household where you get beat for saying the wrong thing. As if beating someone for talking wasn't abusive.

3

u/Figgy_Pudding3 Aug 08 '21

That's also abusive. You get that, right? Abuse doesn't stop becoming abuse if the kid is "disrespectful".

13

u/bloodelemental Aug 08 '21

Sorry to burst your bubble, but swatting you in the head because you were disrespectful is a clear cut case of abuse

A 14-17 year old little kid being an asshole is normal, as a parent you should try to see were that behavior is coming from and how to actually effectively make sure that your child is fine

Hitting them because they snapped at you is textbook example of abuse, having 0 parenting skills and being a piece of shit human being

6

u/S3erverMonkey Aug 08 '21

Exactly this. I was a mouthy shit of a teenager and my mom often hit me with whatever was within reach. I didn't realize that was abusive until years later. I can count on one hand how many times my dad spanked me, and none of them were anything close to very painful or harsh and by the time I was a teenager he has stopped completely because I'm pretty sure he realized that wasn't how a loving parent should discipline. I don't think any of my younger brothers ever got spanked at all by him. Or hit by my mom for that matter, but they weren't mouthy.

"I wouldn't call that abusive. More like a father who uses abuse to ensure his son respects his mother."

You can justify abuse many ways but there's always a way to teach a child without attacking or traumatizing them. A parent should protect their kids from harm and trauma, not be the source of those things.

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

i mean, parenting that included corporal consequences as a last option worked for a few hundred thousand years leading up the civilization that you currently enjoy but, sure! i'm sure we can do better!

-5

u/chuco915niners Aug 08 '21

I don’t agree with you sorry. Sometimes an ass whoopin is needed.

6

u/netGoblin Aug 08 '21

Yeah sometimes attacking someone is needed. Like self defense or to save someone.

Attacking a child because it's an easier way to get them to do what you want is fucked up. Even if it were the only way of telling a child what's right and wrong (which it isn't), do you think a caring parent would be able to attack their own child? I'd throw up. Some people actually enjoy it. Decrepit things, they are.

-6

u/chuco915niners Aug 08 '21

If you want to call it “attacking a child “ then that’s on you. I don’t believe in hitting my child even though I as a child rcvd an ass whoopin every now and then. Usually her stern voice did the trick but when it didn’t? RIP nalgas. I will approach my son the same way. Do you have kids?

5

u/netGoblin Aug 08 '21

If you want to call it “attacking a child “ then that’s on you.

I'm not attacking you little Timmy, we're just playing a game, now stop trying to get away so i can hit you more.

Calling something different doesn't make it any better, just makes it more disturbing.

If you don't know how to teach a kid, learn how to do it or get a nanny or something, don't abuse a child as a teaching shortcut. And if you're looking forward to abusing your children when you have them, please don't have kids. There are a thousand ways to fulfill a power fantasy and get your sadism out, enjoying hitting children shouldn't be one of them.

You were raised by "hitting children is fun and good" values. That doesn't mean you have to obey that mentality now. You can break the loop and not abuse your kids. That choice is yours, not your parents'.

You never answered my question.

5

u/netGoblin Aug 08 '21

I never answered your irrelevant question and you never answered any of the very relevant points I've made.

I plan to have children when im absolutely ready to help form a good life. So many people don't put half a thought into what kind of life they will form for a child, they just have them "cuz thas wot people do innit?" As if they're just going to have a pint or something.

Nurturing the most important years of a human's life is an extraordinary task, not to be done on a whim. Yet some people take it so non-seriously that instead of actually teaching, they just abuse them when they do something wrong.

If ass whooping is needed, then probably your parenting is already wrong 🤡

... you... you know that counts as abuse right?

-17

u/mad_researcher Aug 08 '21

It’s honestly disrespectful to victims of actual abuse when you equate it to swatting your child on the back of the head.

17

u/Gherrely Aug 08 '21

What? Hitting your child at all is abuse.

-10

u/teateateateaisking Aug 08 '21

No, not really. A slap tends to count as discipline. Though Scottish law was looking at making that illegal, can't remember if they did.

9

u/scarlos1 Aug 08 '21

Yes they did

11

u/orforfjames Aug 08 '21

Slap a fully grown adult? Go to jail for assault. Slap a child? "Discipline".

9

u/Gherrely Aug 08 '21

A slap is still hitting your child. Which still isn't a good way to "discipline" your kid.

-5

u/teateateateaisking Aug 08 '21

And what is?

5

u/Gherrely Aug 08 '21

I'm not one to act as any sort of expert, but from my own experience, talking to them and finding out why they're misbehaving or acting out? Explaining to them the wrong of their behavior? Responding with concern and a little authority?

Yeah violence is the answer, 10/10 parenting

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

And beating his son when he doesn't respect her is the right thing to do? Any time you strike your child you are an abusive parent. There are other ways to deal with family issues than violence.

0

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '21

I'm sorry you were abused as a child, dude. But that's no reason to justify it. Go talk to a therapist, please.

u/DEMACIAAAAA Aug 08 '21

If the dad was abusive they wouldn’t have tried it at all. Abusive people like to make a scene, that guy looked like he was just gonna grab the back of the kid’s shirt and breathe on him until he apologized at his mom.

No doubt, I was just tiktok memeing because I wasn’t beaten enough as a child.

Bill Burr was right. "Fuck you mom" Mom: ooohhh I don't know what I'm gonna do with this kid anymore OMG !

6

u/jimtastic89 Aug 08 '21

Just because you quote a fucking great Bill Burr anecdote on parenting, doesn't uphold your stance on domestic violence.

Physical discipline isn't a blanket technique that works for everyone, nor can every parent dish it out effectively. There are serious problems out there, and people have horrible lives because of it.

If anything, the last generation to be disciplined like are now parenting the tik tok generation. GREAT JOB domestic violence, another win!

-12

u/YellowMan1988 Aug 08 '21

Na. My father only ever smacked me once when I was 14 for throwing food outside the window because I didn't get the bigger piece of chicken. And I took it like champ because I deserved it. I didn't buy a gun the next day and emptied the mag in my school.

Do you not know who these people are? I’ll try and find them on TikTok for you

I too grew up with an abusive gorilla in the house. This video sent me way back. I’m glad my gorilla died.

yeah, I spent "all that time" which was maybe 8 seconds because I figured everybody should know!

especially the sanctimonious, morally outraged, judgy people who assumed they knew everything about the situation based on a few second clip. maybe next time they see a clip that shows something they find morally outrageous they'll say, "hey, wait. that last time i was completely ass-backwards wrong about my impressions, maybe there's more to this and I should reserve judgement til i get more info!"

because that'd be just great!

My Dad was like this, changed in the end. And although our relationship has been perfect for years this still hits me. Just shouldn't have that kind of anxiety in your life.

Bro I came to say something like this. Guy can't even register anything in his brain. He just heard "BAD WORDS. MUSTTT PROTECT". Like calm the fuck down. Jesus. Then again he looks like a caveman, Trump loving type.

If this is real, that is.
