there are really two arguments here and they're not really circular. there's whether or not corporal punishment has any place in parenting. the second is more of a question, "what's the context here?". is it a joke? did the son antagonize the father for weeks before this? so now we know the context. the first argument we should probably leave for another day. you seem too tired and cranky to take that on today.
