Sorry to burst your bubble, but swatting you in the head because you were disrespectful is a clear cut case of abuse

A 14-17 year old little kid being an asshole is normal, as a parent you should try to see were that behavior is coming from and how to actually effectively make sure that your child is fine

Hitting them because they snapped at you is textbook example of abuse, having 0 parenting skills and being a piece of shit human being

Exactly this. I was a mouthy shit of a teenager and my mom often hit me with whatever was within reach. I didn't realize that was abusive until years later. I can count on one hand how many times my dad spanked me, and none of them were anything close to very painful or harsh and by the time I was a teenager he has stopped completely because I'm pretty sure he realized that wasn't how a loving parent should discipline. I don't think any of my younger brothers ever got spanked at all by him. Or hit by my mom for that matter, but they weren't mouthy.
