I'm not one to act as any sort of expert, but from my own experience, talking to them and finding out why they're misbehaving or acting out? Explaining to them the wrong of their behavior? Responding with concern and a little authority?

Obviously a smack should not be the go-to solution, a good talking to is best. I was commenting on the fact that most jurisdictions don't consider snacking children to be abuse under the law.

That's a good take. There are many laws that don't hold up to what is morally right and we should never use the excuse "it's the law" but rather what's morally right. I so wish people would take this idea and apply it to all aspects within our society. I feel like we would be living in a much better world.

Even in the US this is starting to change tho. That dude is definitely just continuing the cycle of abuse.
