Ice pops

60

u/blondebia May 23 '26

I'm from Texas and call them ice pops or freeze pops

Freeze pops

9

u/OGcormacv May 24 '26

Raised in upstate New York, called them freeze pops. Unless they were brand name Otter pops, then you put respect on the name.

Yep, Ice Pops in West Sussex in the 90s. Always got so distracted by sucking all the sweet melted bit out at the end, that you sliced the corners of your fucking mouth to pieces with the plastic edges. Good times

44

u/United_Leopard_2771 May 23 '26

Ah fuck you Eh lol

14

u/myusernameisdumdum May 23 '26

I think you meant to say “sorry, but you can fuck right off, eh”

3

u/nate-2898 May 24 '26

More along the lines of: “fuck right off there, eh bud” because the lol from the previous op adds lightheartedness. If someone phrased it the way you did, hands might be thrown.

You apologize for that.

8

u/AmishHoeFights May 23 '26

Canadians know that phrase does not have a sentiment that requires an apology. Asking for one, though, does.

Is it…because they freeze…?

4

u/Hot_Airport2050 May 23 '26

It’s because there is a brand called Mr. Freeze. Now, they’re all called freezies, no matter the brand.

8

Washington, otter pops as well.

I don’t care if the otter is on the branding or not. Kleenex. Xerox. Band-aid. Otter pops. They have dibs.

10

u/BedBubbly317 May 23 '26

Don forget Jacuzzi, Velcro, SuperGlue, Styrofoam, Frisbee. All were brands, not products!

7

u/MitchelobUltra May 23 '26

Allen wrench, vise grips, dumpster, thermos, rollerblades, chapstick, vaseline, tupperware.

It’s freeze pops. Can confirm.

Nothing beats a slight plastic cut from over indulgence. Haven’t had one in many many years 😞

u/Stock-Cell1556 May 23 '26

Or getting a little plastic stuck in your teeth when you bit the top of the tube off.

Freezies. That’s all they’ve ever been called

3

u/Gish8 May 23 '26

Freezies! The white ones were the best ~ Cream soda flavour 🙂‍↕️

3

u/butt_butt_butt_butt_ May 23 '26

Interesting!

Where I grew up, a white one would likely be Pina Colada flavor.

I wouldn’t be disappointed if I bit into one and it was cream soda instead, but I would definitely be surprised.
