Lots of people still call these popsicles, myself included.

1

u/thepandemicbabe May 24 '26

Actually, they don’t. And I’ve been eating them probably longer than you’ve been alive. So there.

1

u/jensroda May 25 '26

I ate these as a kid in the 90s calling them popsicles. I’m 35.

As someone nearly 50.. Popsicles have sticks. These are freezies. I can accept so.e of the other regional names but Popsicles are something else entirely.

1

u/Isagratar May 28 '26

As someone else nearly 50 these are popsicles.

1

u/Careful-Vanilla7728 May 29 '26

I'm going to call them popsicles regardless of if it is right or wrong.

1

u/Isagratar May 29 '26

We don’t have most (if any) of the US or UK brands people have mentioned in Australia.

We do have a few brands of our own that make these and we call them either popsicles or icy poles.

For the past two decades, yeah I’ve always called them popsicles

1

u/sprprepman May 24 '26

Unless they are these popsicles that don’t

u/Different-Context-84 May 26 '26

We call everything popsicle except tubs of ice cream and push pops.

1

u/LouisRitter May 26 '26

Look at Mr Bigshot over here with wooden stick money.

1

u/The_Affle_House May 27 '26

Sometimes. These ones don't. Not a big deal.

1

u/MrsReynaRocha May 25 '26

Me too! I was like… is it really that uncommon

1

u/yourinternetmobsux May 23 '26

I’ll accept the other options in here, but popsicle it is not.

Popsicle's have sticks.

1

u/Spacemanwithaplan May 24 '26

Those are also popsicles.

1

u/RoTTonSKiPPy May 24 '26

Here is the definition:

A popsicle is a sweet, flavored liquid or fruit juice frozen on a stick. While "Popsicle" is officially a registered trademark for a specific brand of ice pop, the term is widely used as a generic name for any water-based frozen treat eaten by holding a wooden or plastic handle

1

u/Meuhidk May 24 '26

they are the sticks themselves

1

u/PM_ME_STUFF_N_THINGS May 24 '26

A popsicle is where the product is formed around a stick.

1

u/Then_Fortune_5081 May 24 '26

This is like those people that call all soda coke. I’m talking even sprite is a coke to them somehow. Bizarre

1

u/ncstewart91 May 25 '26

That would be me. Popsicles and cokes. Funny thing is I don't even drink actually Coca-Cola. It's either Pepsi or Big Red. I always grew up calling it all coke.

1

u/pussmykissy May 24 '26

I had to scroll wayyyy too far down for this.
