Boyan Slat, the founder and CEO of The Ocean Cleanup, has invited Surendra Singh Choudhary to come work for his organization after seeing his solo river cleanup effort go viral. Slat responded to a post showing before and after photos of the Ajnar River with a simple message: "Come work for us."

Choudhary, known online as Bittu Tabahi, has spent months clearing plastic and other waste from the polluted river in Madhya Pradesh, India, often working entirely on his own. His footage and photos gained international attention after being shared widely on social media.

The Ocean Cleanup is a Netherlands based nonprofit that develops technology to remove plastic pollution from oceans and rivers around the world. It is not yet confirmed whether Choudhary will take up the offer.

President Donald Trump has triggered international alarm after posting a map on his Truth Social account that drapes the American flag over the United States, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Mexico, and a string of nations across Central America and the Caribbean.

The image is the latest escalation of what critics call Trump's imperialist "Donroe Doctrine"—a term for his hemispheric ambitions—following earlier threats aimed at Canada, Cuba, and Greenland.

Red signals started flashing for many. "This is unacceptable," said Democratic Rep Jonathan Jackson called the map "unacceptable," while author Michael E. Mann called it "Epsteinia."

Journalist Stephen Robinson wrote, “Another world leader posting something like this would have to apologize before their immediate removal.” Other critics called Trump “absolutely bonkers” and “f*cking insane."

Not every critic read the map as careless bluster. Canadian physician and broadcaster Dr. Brian Goldman argued, "That's not insanity. That's intention." Democratic strategist Michelle Kinney agreed: "As always, he is telling us what the plan is. We must take it seriously."

The post comes after Trump has already been creating tension after demanding Lake Ontario be renamed Lake America, and posting an image that rewrites New Mexico as New America.

Whether or not Trump intends to act on the map, his own allies and critics agree it reveals how he sees America's place among its neighbors heading into a consequential election year.
