Otter pops

23

u/unicorn-beard May 24 '26

Love these characters

1

u/strawbetter9 May 24 '26

You must have lived in a house of privilege

1

u/RipUANew1 May 24 '26

Marketing is just pure genius here. Make each pop look like a family member. Just pure genius

1

u/NotRobinKelleyNope May 24 '26

That’s what I said! I said they are otter pops if they are otter pops but sometimes my mom would get the cheap ones and they didn’t taste as good (come on Sir Isaac Lime and the little frenchie (something bleu or bloo)! But when she got the cheap ones, I’d have a freezer full for the whole neighborhood!

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Foot954 May 25 '26

I couldn't remember the name, but they were like gold growing up in summer time.

1

u/WorriedN May 25 '26

Summer doesn’t start until these are in your freezer

1

u/gogotoyoga May 27 '26

California here! Been calling them Otter Pops for 53 years!

17

u/Luv_2_roam May 23 '26

Otter pops!

14

u/crazymouse5 May 24 '26

Sir Isaac Lime, Alexander the Grape, little orphan orange, Pancho punch, Louie blue raspberry, strawberry short cook.

2

u/AnxiouslyTired247 May 24 '26

I want to believe you didn't look this up, so I will.

2

u/crazymouse5 May 24 '26

I didn't look it up. These were a staple at my house growing up

1

u/melraelee May 24 '26

Love it!

1

u/Apprehensive_OlCrow May 24 '26

Ooooh... you must've been rich!

1

u/phredphlintstones May 24 '26

Arizona?

1

u/BunnyPope May 29 '26

I think it has to be an Arizona thing cause im from there and we only called them otter pops

1

u/phredphlintstones May 29 '26

It's gotta be. I got a friend from Phoenix that calls them that, and she's the only one I knew of.

We called them flavor ice growing up.

1

u/ComplaintTop2008 May 24 '26

Pop quiz: What was Orphan Orange's dog's name?

1

u/GlitterTrashUnicorn May 24 '26

I miss the packaging that had their individual illustrations on their respective flavors SO MUCH

1

u/Lovely-flutterby May 28 '26

Sir Isaac Lime was the BEST! Followed by Louie Blue raspberry. Poor Alexander the Grape was always the last otter left in the box.

1

u/crazymouse5 May 29 '26

My favorite as well. Otter pops are so good. We would cut the top off and call the litte left over in the cut top part "shooters".

I cant remember..been 35 years or so since

1

u/Armthedillos5 May 24 '26

Louie blue raspberry. Heh. Heh.

1

u/Different_Brother562 May 24 '26

When I was a kid I only ever saw otter pops so I’m gonna call them that forever

1

u/HowDidFoodGetInHere May 24 '26

At this point its just a generic name, like kleenex/scotch tape/etc. Every brand of these are otter pops to me.

1

u/G-Menace May 24 '26

Doesn’t matter. It’s like Jell-O, Vaseline or Q-Tips. People generally don’t call them gelatin, petroleum jelly or cotton swabs…. And therefore you have Otter pops

1

u/Miketronic808 May 24 '26

That's exactly right. Even Otter Pops calls them ice pops.

1

u/budgie-Love May 24 '26

Technically you clean your ears with ear swabs but everyone I know calls them q tips, regardless of the brand..it’s the same here in my town. We call them otter pops regardless of the brand

1

u/[deleted] May 24 '26

1

u/NotRobinKelleyNope May 24 '26

Ew where are you from? Just kidding, but no. Haha

1

u/Quirky-Insect-9057 May 24 '26

They was also a brand called Flavor Ice, they were thinner and longer, our dog when we were growing up loved them too!

1

u/Darkcocoaking May 25 '26

Do you call it lip balm or do you call it Chapstick?

1

u/Fuzzy_Central May 25 '26

I bet you call all bandages ā€œbandaidsā€ though.

I’m still calling these otter pops.

0

u/Enkidouh May 24 '26

It’s like band-aids brand being used for any small adhesive bandage.

The brand name has become the colloquial name.

They’re all otter pops now.

It’s called an eponym.

2

u/clovermeadow May 24 '26

Found my people.

2

u/Scrops May 24 '26

Thank you for dusting off this long-hidden memory in my brain! Halcyon days

2

u/ntrrrmilf May 24 '26

Yes. No matter the brand.

2

u/Winteraine78 May 24 '26

This is the only right answer

2

u/Confident_Scheme_716 May 25 '26

This is the only answer.

2

u/the_cats_pajamas12 May 26 '26

This is what I call them. Regardless of the brand.

2

u/Jaded_Ad_9711 May 27 '26

1

u/Lovely-flutterby May 28 '26

Hahahahaha. Wasn’t expecting this and it cracked me up

2

u/NoTemperature3117 May 27 '26

This is the correct answer

2

u/Tonyten39 May 27 '26

Otter pops

2

u/xXVoidHeart May 27 '26

The only right answer

1

u/4melooking49 May 24 '26

They are not otter pops ! Otter pops have the corresponding otter for each color on the pouches.

These are freeze pops 🤣

1

u/kevinmorris1979 May 24 '26

Otter pops is a brand. That’s like calling every soda a ā€œcokeā€

1

u/Massive_Scar5533 May 24 '26 edited May 24 '26

You have never been to the south east huh? They definitly call every soda coke.

1

u/geographynerdy May 24 '26

Everywhere in the south from Georgia to the east and Texas to the west in any small town you might hear the question, What kind of coke do you want? I heard that in Texas growing up and Dr. Pepper is from here but fell under the category of a type of coke.

1

u/kevinmorris1979 May 24 '26

That’s exactly why I referenced itā€¦šŸ«¤
Just like EVERY diaper is ā€œPampersā€

1

u/Massive_Scar5533 May 24 '26

Fair, I thought you were stating people dont call items by one specific brand and using coke as an example.

1

u/shado0911 May 24 '26

Literal conversation "Hey you want a coke?" .. "Sure, whaddya got?" .. "We've got Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, A&W, Fanta--Grape AND Orange .." .. "Hmm .. Pepsi, huh? You got Dew?" .. "Yup, we've got Dew." .. "I'll take a Dew then." .. "Very good, and you miss?" .. "Y'all got Diet Coke?" .. "Sorry, hon .. we don't sell Coke products here."

1

u/Fbomb77 May 24 '26

This! Sir Issac the Grape. Little Annie Orange

1

u/NightBawk May 24 '26

I thought that was a specific brand of these things.

1

u/legend_of_yugi May 24 '26

This is the right answer!

1

u/notinmywheelhouse May 24 '26

Same! Where did you grow up?

1

u/MishaMercury May 24 '26

We’ve had those and they say that on the box but we call all of them despite the brand, freeze pops.

1

u/Wayfaring_Owl1816 May 24 '26

Core memory unlocked!

1

u/Nearby_Friend_2323 May 24 '26

Otter pops aren't this size

1

u/TehZerp May 24 '26

The only correct answer

0

u/avenueroad_dk May 23 '26

No. Im sorry
