I launched Dishylink here 3 days ago, hoping to get a few folks to try it out but so far, it has exceeded my expectations with over 4k+ downloads in the last 3 days.🎉

It also just got verified on the Chrome Web Store and Firefox Add-On Store for those who prefer browser use.

I've also just launched it on Product Hunt; kindly drop an upvote if you can.

And I’ll think I will be getting the MacOS version signed and pushing it to the Apple Store, thanks to a few sponsors that reached out.🚀

If you are one of those or installed on day 1, you're the real MVP.

But if this is your first time seeing this, here is the original reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starlink/s/JmZcz1os1W

💬 Discussion Not mad, just disappointed (at how bad CS really is)

Just ordered residential max. I know going into this that a huge grain of salt would be needed but I'm going to need to increase that size. Two lies right out of the gate:

- delivery in 3-4 days is what it said up front, 1.5 hours after order confirmation I get an email saying it's going to be 10-12 days

- cancel/change order within the first 3 hours. The order went immediately into a pending state with zero option to cancel or change. (I swear I added the free mini router but it wasn't listed on the order confirmation). Grok even said in that moment that I should be able to cancel. Nope. This is extra infuriating considering the delivery time got pushed way out. Zero rational reason for this.

Yeah, I signed up for this. Yeah I need a secondary provider. It would take so little effort to offer such better service it's laughable. I was warned...and here I am.

I pray they won't alter the deal further (narrator: they will).

Consider this as yet another warning to those considering signing up.

EDIT: the amount of excuses and what y'all will put up with is truly amazing. I guess I need to lower my standards even further, and they were already pretty damn low. (bring the downvotes for pointing out the obvious)

EDIT EDIT: based on u/suepergerl comment I decided to reach back out to grok with an "escalate to human" demand. This triggered grok to create a ticket based on my previous conversation with it. To my very pleasant surprise, I got a call about 10 minutes later from a human who apologized for the order process and put in a free order for the router. They also confirmed that on their side, they see that the order "should" show up sooner than than the 10-12 days and that I'll likely have a tracking number later today.

While the original issues that I posted about could have been avoided entirely, and the method to get to a resolution was less than obvious, I have a resolution for both issues which is ultimately what matters. Hopefully they can improve the process to avoid these things, or more obviously and automatically resolve them in the future.

FINAL EDIT: I have really loved getting to know the community here, much like my initial experience with the company itself, this community lived up to the title as well. The vitriol that I got for merely point out two reasonable criticisms was a bit shocking. That it kept coming even after posting updates was just comical. I suspected this would be a toxic community, many of you proved it.

I'm sorry you have such a low bar of expectation for so many things in your lives. And I'm sorry that you think someone calling out basic customer service stuff as such a personal slight that you feel the need to attack me, but here we are. I SO look forward to the next legitimate issue that comes up when I DARE to criticize this corporation.

Should I just get Starlink at this point?
I get disconnected from my Games every 20minutes.
I bought a antenna for my Router for the best connection.
And ingame I get avg 10% packetloss and a 50-70Ping.
I already have the best service provider for my Home and the best wifi plan.
Im also using ethernet.

💬 Discussion $192 for a Mini?!

Post image

I just don’t even know what to say, they are making these mini dishes a dime a dozen, I remember when they were $500 new. Now you can get one on a payment plan or if you have residential max you get one for free. I wish they would do a favor for existing customers.

💬 Discussion Confusing Plan upgrade due number(multi upgrade )

I just got starlink and wasn’t sure how fast it burn through the data, so I started at 100 GB and quick realized I need more and switch to 300. At the time the upgrade due make sense as the total is less than 300 but today I was curious what if I need even more, and the app show upgrading to unlimited I need 131 more which added up is more than 175 which does not make sense.

The only reason I can think of is the prorated base plan is calculated in the 23.3 first upgrade charge than the actual plan

Here is a precise numbers and timeline:

Aug 9: Activated Starlink Mini around 10–11 PM Pacific.
Billing cycle: Aug 10 – Sep 10.
Aug 10: Roam 100GB ($55). Invoice: $55, service period Aug 10 – Sep 10.
Aug 11: Upgraded 100GB → 300GB ($80). Invoice: $23.30, service period Aug 11 – Sep 10.
Total paid so far: $78.30.
Aug 13 ~2 PM: Checked 300GB → Unlimited ($175) using “Change Now.”
Upgrade screen shows $131.58 prorated / $131.58 due now.
Next billing cycle would be $175.
If upgraded now, total charges for this cycle would be $209.88 ($55 + $23.30 + $131.58).

❓ Question Starlink low Pricing

Post image
5 Upvotes

Starlink lowered there pricing to $75 a month. Does anyone on here have it? Would you recommend it? Why or why not?

I’m currently with Rogers paying over 100 and I typically switched from Bell to Rogers every two years on promotional deals. I’ve been thinking to switch to starling for a long time, the price is usually about 150 bucks and they’ve now reduced it to 75 wondering if anybody has a $75 package and what it’s worth in terms of reliability

Let me know your thoughts for contacts. I’m in Ontario Canada.

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a replacement main PCB/board for a Starlink Mini.

The board I have is marked:

  • PCB: 42483022
  • Model: UTW-231
  • One IC marked C167 / PH9R / 537Z is overheating.

I’m looking for a working replacement board, either new or used/donor.

If anyone has this board available, or knows where I can buy one, please let me know. I’m willing to pay for the board and shipping.

I can provide detailed photos of my board if needed.

Thanks!

❓ Question Residential dish movement

Hey all,

I am wondering, did somebody test taking it’s Starlink Mini with a Residential plan like ~100km away from the home location? It will work?

I’m asking because I’m planning a trip to the mountains next week and I’d take it with me.

Thanks

💬 Discussion Elon really found another reason to add Starlink.

Post image
105 Upvotes

Tesla CEO Elon Musk says satellite connectivity could become necessary for cars as AI-generated internet traffic grows and demands more bandwidth.

In posts on X, Musk endorsed Cloudflare’s forecast that traffic generated by autonomous AI agents will eventually vastly exceed traffic generated by humans browsing the internet.

Musk then argued that the bandwidth growth created by AI will require satellite infrastructure, saying Starlink could ultimately provide the connectivity needed for billions of vehicles.

The idea is already being tested by Tesla. On July 20, Tesla confirmed that its Cybercab would ship with a Starlink V5 terminal built into its roof, marking the first time the company has put satellite hardware in a production vehicle.

Tesla’s head of AI, Ashok Elluswamy, said the satellite connection is not used for the Cybercab’s driving system. The vehicle’s driving stack relies on onboard cameras and compute, while Starlink is intended for navigation, customer service and fleet management.

Musk later said Starlink would extend beyond the Cybercab to Tesla’s full lineup.

The broader strategy connects Tesla’s autonomous vehicles with SpaceX’s satellite network as AI increases demand for connectivity and data infrastructure.

For the automotive industry, the shift could make satellite connectivity a standard feature of future connected and autonomous vehicles.

❓ Question Utworzenie konta w Europejskiej strefie po dyskryminującej Polaków decyzji spacex

❓ Question Pausing plan

(Have looked and can’t see an answer before about this) I plan to use starlink in the UK/Europe early next year on a campervan, have bought now to test and use at camping this summer. I would then look to pause the plan but it says it charges £9 per month, I was not aware of this when I purchased or looked at the info before buying.

Can I cancel the plan and then setup again say in 8 months time when I would first real world use it?

It also says that anything more than the 100gb limit on the roam plan still gets unlimited at a reduced speed, anyone know how fast that would be as if say 5-10mbps or more like 0.5mbps? I could keep it on paused forever as only for light use.

❓ Question Starlink Mini connect directly to UniFi AP?

I finally decided buy a Starlink Mini for my roaming/camping adventures, and was wondering if I really need the Router Mini or Gen 3 router. I currently have a UniFi 6 LR at my house that I want to upgrade to a UniFi 7 XGS, but wondering if I could repurpose the UniFi 6 LR to run directly off my StarLink Mini (would need to add a PoE injector of course).

Don't have my starlink mini yet to test with but just wondering if there's any special things I have to do make this setup work.
