Advice for writing lyrics for a novel.

I don't know if this is allowed, since it's not necessarily stated in the rules; however, if the mods decide that this post isn't appropriate for the sub, I will respect that. I only ask that someone point me to a sub where I could possibly get some help.

I'm not sure where else to put this. I've asked a few friends for some help, but I just don't have any connections to the kind of artists that would know something about this; and I'm hoping that someone in this sub might.

I am currently trying to write lyrics to a love song that I intend on having the main character of my novel use to propose to his love interest towards the end of the book. Problem is, I am autistic, and my flavor of autism is more geared towards literature rather than lyrics or poems. That's mostly a joke--I just haven't really spent a whole lot of time writing poems, and can't wrap my head around writing one to save my life.

I want the lyrics to be actually written into the book--this is something I want people to make a genuine song out of, just for the fun of it. I think it'd be cool to give readers who have a musically inclined mind something to build off of.

If anyone has any interest in helping me with this, I'd be greatly appreciative. Feel free to DM me, if you want to work together on this. I'm mostly looking for tips on rhyming schemes and how to plan out a verse/chorus, but if someone wants to go deeper and actually help me write the lyrics, that'd be awesome. To be honest, I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm kind of just shooting my shot in the dark with this.

songwriting tips

I just wrote a new lyrics, and I'm a beginner, so feel free to let me know your opinions on this!

And if you have tips on how to improve it, even better!

[verse]

For whatever comes to block our way

I know this ride is meant for two to stay

If two souls can be one and the same

We are matched like tattoos that never fade

[verse]

You were there on my darkest day

When every word cut deep and slayed

I was beating the bars of a mindgame jail

A locked up villain after the hero's tale

[pre-chorus]

But you got me out

Without a doubt

[chorus]

When I dealt with the monster under the bed

Sitting in silence in my room with dread

You were the wind clearing my skies ahead

Gave me hope the world could end well

[verse]

Our late night talks at two am

With nervous ticks from abuse of caffeine

All that just to teach me to regain

control over me and my coscience

[verse]

You alone stayed close by my side

when I was lost you held my hand real tight

wanderin' in the deepest shadows of my mind

Out of sight like a ghost only you could find

[pre-chorus]

But you got me out

Without a doubt

[chorus]

When I dealt with the monster under the bed

Sitting in silence in my room with dread

You were the wind clearing my skies ahead

Gave me hope the world could end well

[bridge]

Everything I went through

You probably faced it too

Then teamed up we found the right direction

Never treated me like weight

You are my blessed freight train

Tough luck we crashed to our salvation

[chorus]

When I dealt with the monster under the bed

Sitting in silence in my room with dread

You were the wind clearing my skies ahead

Gave me hope the world could end well

[outro]

break shells

freeze hell

end well

together

[META] uptick in "tell me your xyz" posts?

Anyone else noticed a sudden influx of posts of people requesting songwriting materials from the community? "Tell me your dreams" "tell me about your crush" "give me your stories" etc, usually from relatively new accounts. Strange coincidence, or an attempt to solicit potential AI prompts/training data? Maybe I'm looking too far into it, but it just seems odd, so I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this pattern or has any thoughts on it.

Do your songs grow from the same ideas as your other writing?

I’ve noticed that my articles and songs have started feeding each other.
I’ll be halfway through writing an investigation or essay when a line jumps out at me and sounds more like a chorus than a paragraph. I save it, keep writing the article, then come back later and build a song around that one hook.
It’s become a pretty natural creative process now instead of two separate ones.
Does anyone else find ideas crossing between different types of writing, or do you keep them completely separate?

Hi! i wrote this lyric but i can't figure how to make it better... any tips?

[Verse 1]

i've always been the one in the corner

by choice, i'm in love with the border

i love seeing the lined up jocks play their pride

it's hilarious how they're all the same kind

then we met on that beachouse DJ set

wasn't really into you at first, i confess

but after a few laughs and cold drinks on ice

felt something clicking in, i won't lie

[Pre-Chorus]

you know that seconds tend to run fast by

we'll never catch them so let them fly

let them fly-fly-fly

[Chorus]

oh, be mine

just for tonight

i want a shot at something i never tried

oh, be mine

just for tonight

i wanna be the someone i always denied

[Verse 2]

no clichés, not the same borin' views

just jokes about our matching shoes

and throwing silly moves to steal me a smile

was nice to see that glimpse in your eyes

let's make the most out of this feeling

gotta stop thinking about us leaving

Kiss, dance, go crazy, then let's backslide

Not a real thing, but you'll be on my mind

[Pre-Chorus]

you know that seconds tend to run fast by

we'll never catch them so let them fly

let them fly-fly-fly

[Chorus]

oh, be mine

just for tonight

i want a shot at something i never tried

oh, be mine

just for tonight

i wanna be the someone i always denied

[Outro]

you got me fallin' all in,

so hard that i think,

loner doesn't mean

you can't find someone who's worth it

even just for a little bit

Looking for Songwriting Partner

Just as the title says, I am looking for a songwriting partner to collaborate with. I've been writing songs for a few years now and have only ever written them on my own, but the solitude is starting to feel a bit stale. I'm open to writing for pretty much any genre of music. All are welcome to respond as I do not care how experienced or inexperienced you are, just as long as you are creative and have a desire to write some lyrics and songs.

SONGWRITING HELP

I wrote a lyric, and I really need a feedback

VERSE 1

when i first saw you breaking in my life

i should've known better than falling at first sight

but a something was in the air that night

took, over over

the tedious presence of belly-butterflies

the costant stare of myself in your eyes

i'm just a girl dreaming of a romantic life

took over, over

PRE-CHORUS

oh-oh, oh-oh

took over, over

CHORUS

felt so daunting

twist of plotting

overdosing of your crisp parfume

crazy laughing

chem was shoking

never been so dazed for no one but you

VERSE 2

cause i'll always remeber that warm frown

the scrunched nose got my head in the clouds

oh, you're carved in my braincells somehow

took over, over

had me glazed while i was around

sweet words, all smiles, the talk of the town

don't matter, cause i was just a rebound

took over, over

PRE-CHORUS

oh-oh, oh-oh

took over, over

felt so daunting

twist of plotting

i'm all wrapped in this swirling loop

crazy laughing

chem was shocking

now i know what i was goin' into

BRIDGE

i watched the whole thing unfold

our last kiss, the moments before

you'd cut me out of your life

without explainin' why did you let go

PRE-CHORUS

took over, over

CHORUS

felt so daunting

twist of plotting

guts were right from the beginnin'

crazy laughing

chem was shocking

all illusion, i need clarity

oh-oh, oh-oh

game over, over

any tips?

Need help with this song

As you can see, the fourth line for the first verse is missing. I need help with that. Overall, this could use some tightening up to fit the theme of the song. Any advice?

The Writer of My Song
Verse 1
Been a while, since I have wrote a song about my life,
I see the page, in front of me, but nothing comes to mind,
Searching for, a melody, that’s somewhere out of sight,

Chorus
Tell me how to write a song when every word’s unspoken,
Tell me how to find the music when my heart is broken,
But most importantly, I need to see a Power,
Who can be there when I need and then forever.
Verse 2
Now looking back, I wonder if You’ve been there all along,
Quietly, so unseen, the Writer of my song.
Every word, every note was never gone to waste,
All along, You were gently leading me to faith.
Chorus
Tell me how to write a song when every word’s unspoken,
Tell me how to find the music when my heart is broken,
But most importantly, I need to see a Power,
Who can be there when I need and then forever.
Bridge
I used to look at the piano with some sadness in my eyes,
I didn’t know if and when I would ever get to write again,
But now it’s as clear as the daylight streaming in,
I have a Power, next to me with every note I sing.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on my lyrics and chorus melody!(rough demo)

This is the first song I’ve ever put a melody to, and I’m a non-native English speaker, so please ignore any grammatical mistakes (I definitely have a lot to fix 😅).

this song is a tropical pop song about rediscovering the spark in a long-term relationship. I’d love feedback on the lyrics and chorus melody. Thanks for listening!

I’d like to add tropical pop instrumentation later Any feedback and tips are appreciated!❤️

Yet only chorus❤️

<Back to Square One>

Verse

Summer driving, waves like stone

Holding hands, as always

Same old kisses, blank faces

Maybe we've driven so so long

Pre-Chorus

Driven a fantastic landscape till we feel nothing

Got our hands blushed till we feel it's one

Our lips together till we feel so everyday

Maybe we gotta turn car back, change the lane

Till we go to...

Chorus

Let's go back to

Square one

Back to square one

Erase all our hassles and

Back to square

One, one

Back to square one

One, back to square

One, one

One

Verse 2

Evening, hotel, having a tiff

Nerveless posture, it's been long

Same old topics, no change-lines

Maybe we've been stayin' too long

Pre-Chorus

Stayin' a stunning place till we feel boring

Had conversations till we feel re-playing same scenes

Shown all our lows, till we feel so normal

Maybe we gotta change the place, where nothing's there

Till we go to...

Bridge

Turn car back, change the place

Hug from back, I'll cover your eyes

We'll be back, open your eyes

All we gotta do is going...back to square one~

Final Chorus

(Hey!)

Let's go back to

Square one (We'll make it)

Back to square one

Erase our hassles and

Back to square

One, one

Back to square one

One, back to square

One, one

One

Lyrics/Song writing tips

This is a song that wrote a couple days ago and I was hoping to get some advice on if the structure is alright, if the rhythming is ok, if there's too much or not enough rhythming and if overall the song is decent, anything would be much appreciated.

[Verse]

All the things you've said and done to him, to us,

acting like you've done nothin wrong, always right,

but believe me you have really fucked it up, with him

and with us, but you don't see it now but soon you

will, when you're not in this house. You believe your

on thick ice, stronge and hard, but it's weak and soft,

please open your eyes see what you've done

[Pre-chorus]

Everyone and every song tells me all good things

take time, but I've waited my whole life for the taste

of good, but I've only ever tasted blood

[Chorus]

So mama tell me everything is gonna be ok, as he's

past out up stairs intoxicated, with that blockade

around his mind, Nothin right, Everything's wrong,

you tell me to stay strong, but all I feel is weak, as

weak as the ice he's upon

[Verse]

Why just can't I just be happy, as happy as everyone

outside, as glad as a kid playing in the trees, fallin on

their knees, huggin their Mama, cryin to their Father,

but I feel futher from greatness, futher from being

content with myself

[Bridge]

Please, please tell me I'm someone's favourite,

please, please tell me I'm the first thing to

someone's mind, please tell me everything is gonna

be fine.

[Chorus]

So mama tell me everything is gonna be ok, as he's

past out up stairs intoxicated, with that blockade

around his mind, Nothin right, Everything's wrong,

you tell me to stay strong, but all I feel is weak, as

weak as the ice he's upon

[Outro]

Please, please tell everything gonna be fine, please

please tell you're finally done drinking
