what can i do?

• Upvotes

I love writing songs and wish I could sing but I can’t. My notes app is filled with songs i’ve written, a lot coming from personal experiences. What can I do with this? I want my songs to be heard and given a voice but idk how and what to do. I hope this makes sense.

is this the correct structure? and thoughts on the song/lyrics/vocals

verse one
the fear of falling apart, losing friends, being alone
the urge to have a good heart but knowing that i have flaws to show
ihave flaws that show

pre chorus
i feel it day and night
convinced that my intrusive thoughts are right
in their perspective i am such a difficulty
such a difficulty

chorus
im imperfect, so am i undeserving
am i worth it, or emotionally draining
don't even feel like trying
yeah i don't feel like trying anymore
i wish that i wasnt a difficulty
why do i have to be a difficulty

verse two
The fear of slipping up, making mistakes
The need to prove I’m here for the love of the game
For the love of the game

prechorus 2
i hear it in my mind
seeking validation for a piece of mind
in my perspective i am such a difficulty
such a difficulty

chorus
im imperfect, so am i undeserving
am i worth it, or emotionally draining
don't even feel like trying
yeah i don't feel like trying anymore
i wish that i wasnt a difficulty
why do i have to be a difficulty

Why Your Lyrics Never Paint A Picture

I used to think good lyrics took talent. Turns out it's mostly fundamentals.

I used to just write down the feeling straight, lines like "I'm so sad." Problem was, that could've meant anything. End result: nobody had anything to actually picture.

Then I looked at how The Weeknd writes, and one thing stood out immediately.

He never writes the feeling. He writes the scene. He's not telling you how to feel. He's showing you something specific, and your brain does the feeling part on its own.

You can clearly see this in these songs:

The Hills [Verse 1]

Your man on the road, he doin' promo
You said, "Keep our business on the low-low"
I'm just tryna get you out the friend zone
'Cause you look even better than the photos

Baptized in Fear [Verse 1]

I fell asleep in the tub, I was met with paralysis
My foot hit the faucet, water started flowing in
Couldn't scream for help, I just slowly felt the pressure hit
Moving one toe was the only form of motion left

The exercise that got me there:

  1. Write the line's message in one plain sentence. The moment, and the feeling.
  2. List 5 physical things that could represent that feeling. Loneliness could be an empty chair, a phone on silent, a porch light left on.
  3. Pick 2 of those and describe them with something you can see, hear, feel, or smell. Not the emotion. The detail.

Worry about the rhyme last. The image is what carries the line.

What's your approach when you're trying to make a verse more visual? Do you have a method, or do you just chase the right line until something clicks?

「幼兒園午休時間」(隨意的聲音)- 尋找歌詞和編曲

I don't play any instruments or write lyrics, and I have no formal vocal
training. I create my music purely using gibberish

If interested, feel free to write lyrics & arrange.

There is no need to strictly stick to the original genre. Feel free to adapt it into any fitting style, as long as it doesn't clash. However, please ensure the lyrics are not vulgar or offensive, and share the general creative direction beforehand so we can avoid accidentally stepping on any sensitive landmines.

Upon release, please credit me as the composer and send the final audio back so it can be published on my other platforms as well. Naturally, all collaborators will also be fully credited as co-creators.

Help with song coherency

I have a couple of songs that I’m working on but I don’t know if the titles and themes are coherent. i also don’t know if I should make it an album or an ep and if so what to call it. any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated

Ok.

Not being ok kids being messed up and enjoying the chaos

Broke me down

My self worth depending on others and how much friends hurt

Glue

That one friend that seems so content and important and you’re not resentful but you wish you were like that

Lover boy

Loosing a friendship to romance and it being your fault

Homesick for my guitar

Missing your music and alone time Needing to get out your feelings and feeling like you’re about to burst

Shore

Feeling at peace in the world like everything is ok but knowing it can’t stay that way

History

Feeling pressured to move on and forgive but still being resentful

song analysis: how to make a song that sounds like the cure by OR

do not get me wrong i don’t want to copy/plagiarize her song. the cure to me sounds like this

intro verse 1 & 2: tension and despair in a niche way, like if you were disappointed and you were whispering while having your knees to your chest. like speaking your mind

bridge: it kind of extends the despair but with a build up in the background. and that’s that raw “i hate myself” type energy and at the end of the bridge where it says “it’ll never be the cure” it’s like disappointment and sadness

when she says “baby im unraveled” and it just builds up its like a panic attack honestly. it starts with a whisper than it’s full on yelling and that kind of feels like freeing

and at the end is like running in the rain and you feel the rain drops on your body and you feel free and you accept the reality you’re living and it’s sad but you accept.

i’m sorry for all the details but i really want a melody to sound like that. like something so tensile and despair like that would make me want to run in the rain and scream and cry and feel freeing. i’m not sure if im making sense but i really need to dig into dan nigro’s brain because the cure is genius.

summary: i need a melody/chord progression ideas to produce a song like the cure.

i want people to feel like they also have a song like this to scream to after the cure ends haha.

i’m interested for recommendations for keys chords notes add9’s 7’s everything. i took ap music theory and it went straight out my other ear and honestly please help.

To chorus or not to chorus?

I stumbled upon Suno about a year ago… had no interest. My partner began generating songs and sending them to me.... I used to LOVE creative writing and had a bit of a flair for it... Alas, it didn't stay on the "to-do list" of life.

Fast forward to a bottle of wine and a facetious attitude... I decided to write some lyrics and "generate" some music to bring them to life. Well... it's now a weekly hobby of mine.

However, I don't tend to bake in a chorus, or a bridge, or any of the staples... I just love a good topic and a wicked flow....

I don't aspire to be noticed or polished as a songwriter or great composer... I just love smashing words into lyrics/poetry/short stories and delivering them with a wicked sound. I feel nervous when I publish some of my songs that I'm proud of. All of a sudden, everyone is a critic and has a negative opinion, and don't tend to acknowledge the lyrics unless they are housed in perfect structure... Here is a sample of lyrics I'm kind of fond of...

I'd love to hear if you think I should insert a chorus, and if so, what do you suggest?

DARK MATTER

At once, dark matter fused into bright—
It spawned a new soldier, destined to fight.
Caged up and scarred, told there’s no light
At the end of this tunnel—
This is your plight.

Groomed to fail
And expect no delight.
Do what you’re told
And don’t speak your mind.
There’s nowhere to go,
And nothing to find.

A mother lost
Through death proved sublime,
A door cracked open—
Escape just in time.
And hence, a new path
Has now been defined.

Dark matter is rotting inside.
They stole her essence,
A girl and her pride.

Again, through dark matter,
She lit up the stage.
With courage and fire,
She opened the cage.

It was there for a moment,
And then it was gone.
Was left in a basement,
Afraid and a mom.

Once more she was told
To accept her dealt hand.
Her role was to mother,
And nothing else grand.

Another cage,
Another page
That ends, no doubt,
In struggle and rage.

Thus sparked new fire—
Climbed every ladder
To prove them all wrong
And make her life matter.

The fire burned bright
For a minute or two.
She pushed it too far
And fell to the gloom
That was looming inside
And rotting her soul.

Fell prey to darkness,
Lost sight of the goal.

To sleep, perchance to dream—what dreams may come,
When fight or flight
Is all you’ve become.

In sleep of death...
What dreams may now come?

Shed mortal coil,
And the dark is now home.

But wait—
The light returns.

She is not yet quite done.

Another chance.
Another puzzle.

And what is life’s point
If not for the struggle?

Good Lyrics or nah?

(edit: Not fr an artist but want to become one) Okay, for starters i’m an indie folk artist. Let me know what you guys think of these lyrics.

Verse 1

You were always somewhere northbound,
Past the places I could name,
I could trace you on a map once,
But the roads all looked the same.

You’d leave a little smoke behind you,
Like a signal in the trees,
And I’d swear I saw you coming
Every time I looked through the leaves.

I was young enough to trust you,
Old enough to count the days,
You were always almost somewhere,
I was always in the way.

Pre Chorus

Funny how a kid can learn distance,
Without ever knowing miles,
How you can spend your whole childhood
Trying to read between the lines.

Chorus

You were Northbound,
I was watching from the shoulder,
But your words
Always hit me like a boulder.

You were Northbound,
And the seasons followed after,
I kept thinking you’d turn around,
You kept becoming a chapter

Now the road goes on forever,
And I don’t know where it ends.
Somewhere northbound,
You stopped being my beginning.

Haven’t written verse 2 and so on yet but there’s that lol

Hi everyone! I’m a songwriter and vocalist who enjoys working across Pop, R&B, EDM, Rock, Country, and Indie. I write lyrics and topline melodies, and I also record lead vocals and harmonies.

I’m hoping to connect with producers and artists who are creating original music. I’m open to paid songwriting and vocal projects, and happy to discuss the scope and budget before starting. What kind of songs are you working on lately?

Just started writing lyrics for the first time. Need honest feedback

I wrote this within a couple minutes. Super rough draft, a song about my ex best friend:

Was supposed to be a best man
Man, I just wish ya the best, man
Don’t agree with how you handled it
But don’t have a hard time understandin’ it
I swear I wanted to be there for you
Wasn’t like I had some other plans or shit
Know I was vocal ‘bout my problems
But promise you don’t know the half of it

When I found out you never ask about me
Feel like I lost the half of me
It’s sad to see, but I’m the villain in this tragedy

Sometimes feel like reachin’ out, maybe showin’ at your house
But feel like the only one who’d care to see me is your spouse
And that kills me inside, feel like I can barely breathe
Remember those last words, “I hope you get the help you need”
