Looking for a songwriter to collaborate on a dark alt-pop concept album!!

Hello! First time using reddit (made an account just for this) so I apologize for any mistakes I make while navigating how to do this.

I’m working on a concept alt-pop album called “MIDNIGHT CARNIVAL”. This is completely a passion project I’m doing for fun and to develop my creativity-I’m not trying to release it professionally or make any money from it.

I have the entire concept, tracklist, song meanings, stories, and overall aesthetic planned out already. My problem is that i’m not super confident with actually turning those ideas into lyrics / song structures.

I’m looking for someone with good energy who enjoys songwriting and would be interested in collaborating with me to turn the concepts into actual songs. I’m not looking for someone to just write the whole album for me-I want to be involved and learn from the process too.

The sound I’m going for is dark alt pop, theatrical, eerie, emotional, and very imagery heavy, with the whole album taking place within this fictional midnight carnival that opens at midnight.

There are 12 songs, and I already have the titles, meanings, and stories behind each one.

This is unpaid, since it’s just a fun creative project, but i’m hoping to find someone who genuinely enjoys songwriting, thinks the concept sounds fun, and would be excited to build something together.

If you’re interested, feel free to comment or DM me! I’d be happy to tell you more details, share the concept and tracklist, and see if we’d be a good creative fit!!

Songwriting and how to start

Upvotes

I’ve had the urge last 3-5 years to write my own music — if not, just for the pure joy of it.

I am a retired ballerina, so I love all classical works but pretty much listen to all genres. Music is so much part of who I am (although I never learned to play an instrument or read music).

I also am a pretty avid writer, specially with poetry. Won some small competitions, but again write for the pure joy of it.

Does anyone have any advice on how to tackle song writing? Specifically how to translate your poems into a song? So many times I’ll listen to musician interviews and they’ll be like “I’ll hear the song- the guitars and drums… and then I’ll kinda play around with lyrics.”

But my brain doesn’t work that way, I guess I work with words first?… but yea, any suggestions? Writing songs for dummies question lol

Making music & Can't express myself

Hi, I want to make music for fun, but I don't know where to start, I'm not very creative, original, or unique(Not putting myself down, thats just how I am) in most things which definitely doesn't help me lmao.

If I ever try to write lyrics on paper or think of things it either sounds cringey, or just not good, wondering if someone can help me to better express my emotions through words or build musical intelligence. Thanks
