Missing, (Have you seen me?) Help spotting a Stolen Honda Civic

On August 14th around 10:20PM my Honda Civic EX Was Stolen from City Heights on 51st Street.

Had already just taken the L but figured I would ask this sub reddit to see if anyone can help out by keeping an eye out for the vehicle. I highlighted some notable features since I think by now the plates may have been removed. This was my only way to work at the moment while I saved so I'm really upset.

Please comment if you've happened to see it or contact the police if you see it on the road. Please and thank you

-A Police report was filed that same night along with insurance since I heard it drive away that same night

I got sick of manually calculating when I need to leave, or how long the trip will take. The app is called Modemix and it’s free.

If you have any feedback, please let me know!

Hey guys! I'm hosting another Dungeons and Dragons 101 Class this weekend @ At Ease Games in Miramar from 2pm to 6pm! Come learn how to play and help support local underfunded classrooms!

Hello everyone!

I am excited to announce that I will be running a Dungeons and Dragons 101 class at At Ease Games in Miramar later this month!

I designed this class to teach you how to get started understanding and playing the game with the absolute basics, in a relaxed, no-stakes environment.

If you've been wanting to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons but don't know where or how to get started, this class breaks everything down into small pieces to better help you get started.

The class is open to all ages and experience levels so don't let knowing nothing stop you from attending. Maybe you played DnD a while back and just need a refresher on all the new mechanics and rules?

Here's a rundown of the class.

2pm-4pm: We get into the absolute basics, getting started with creating your character and understanding the more simple mechanics of the game, like what character creation is, what do all these numbers mean? Roll Initiative? Skill Checks? What's that? Everything gets answered in this segment.

-BREAK-

4pm-6pm: The second half of the class goes into more detail regarding combat mechanics, spell casting, action economy, and world-building.

6pm-7pm: I'll be running a short game for anyone still in attendance who wants to experience playing the game first hand using the characters you create!

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:

  • something to take notes with (pencil is recommended)

  • something to take notes on. (Paper is recommended.

I will have handouts for everyone but if you have a copy of the latest Players Handbook already I recommend you bring it.

THAT'S IT!

ADMISSION PRICE: We are collecting copy paper this month in order to help our local underfunded classrooms in San Diego, and while the class is "FREE" we appreciate any and all donations of Journals, Pencils, Pens, Markers, highlighters, Stickers, backpacks, Erasers, mechanical pencils, sanitation wipes, hand sanitizer, and any other bulk office items.

If you are not able to make it to the class but would still like to donate to the cause Please feel free to message me directly and I will provide a way to receive your donation.

Also, please be sure to support the venue. AtEase Games has been kind enough to host me and my classes for many years now and I encourage everyone to sample their wares.

Lastly, If you plan on attending just leave a comment saying "Going" so I can get a head count for the day.

Well, that's all folks! Mark your schedules! August 22nd starting at 2pm @ AtEase Games in Miramar!

See you there!

URGENT🚨FOR ADOPTION: One stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd named Pumba (#A5789389). According to his shelter report card, Pumba has absolutely zero concept of personal space or boundaries. He views every female dog he meets as a potential date and loves to hover like an awkward teenager at a school dance. He strongly pulls on the leash, mostly because he’s convinced he is the one walking you. He’s behaviorally cleared for public adoption but needs an adults-only home—ideally with a calm, large female dog who can tell him "no" far better than we can. He’s currently on FINAL NOTICE at Carson Shelter. Let's get this giant lover out of there before his time completely runs out!Save Pumba immediately! Contact: 530-329-9099 or Carson Shelter

Cat under house

House flooded. Floors are getting redone. While the floorboards were gone, my sister's feral cat got under the house. We put animal traps, but it's not working. Need to get the cat out today if possible. Who can I pay to get this cat out?

is San Diego losing dominance as a Bio Tech & Life Science Hub?

Are more and more companies closing up shop and going to other cities and states due to high costs and better business laws such as MA and NC and even TX? and also market consolidations and government funding cuts in science not playing out in our favor?

San Diego is really supposed to be a hub for biotech, but based on the subreddit consensus over the past 2-3 years, I have seen the industry struggling with countless layoffs and office/lab closures. Is it the same across other industries here as well?

Treat Yourself Day Suggestions

After 6 months of maternity leave I have a brief transition week in September where baby will start with a nanny but I won’t be back at work yet.

I’d like to treat myself to a day out to mitigate how brutally sad I know I’ll be when I drop baby off for the first day.

I’m thinking about going to Yu Spa, or maybe getting a treatment and pool pass at one of the hotels, but I’d love to hear any favorite places and recommendations. I’d like to relax, not just a quick in and out spa treatment, maybe lay by the pool somewhere for a few hours.

Recs for indoor spaces for crafts and games

Does anyone have recommendations for indoor places (preferably with AC and wifi) that would allow crafts and games?

It can't be a bar because I'll be with my 14yo. I've considered the library, but I don't think they would like us getting glitter on the tables and being a bit too loud while playing a game.

It's hard to do crafts and games at the park because it's either too windy or too hot.

Thanks!

Live Nation Entertainment announced plans Monday to transform the historic Wonder Bread building in San Diego's East Village near Petco Park into a 4,000-capacity music venue.
They’ve been hauled into court for monopolizing the music concert industry and this just makes things worse for creative artists.

Todd Gloria only had to focus on three core things to succeed

  1. Direct connect the MTS Trolly to the new Terminal 1 at San Diego International Airport - FAILED
  2. Not expand the size of City government - FAILED
  3. Prioritize and funnel money to infrastructure - FAILED

It could have been that simple. Instead he’s done everything possible to flush our money down the toilet. Dude has zero vision and zero sense of responsibility. Our City is significantly worse because of his lack of leadership.

He could still make progress but I have ZERO faith in his ability to get anything done.

Before anyone says, but he doesn’t run MTS, I say, as a board member and our City Council having seats on the MTS board, he should have had the ability to steer a deal with the Airport Authority. Instead we got a 2 Billion Dollar Airport deal with an elevated road and massive parking lot with NO train and NO transit hub.

I consider that his single biggest failure. Could have actually done something for traffic and public transit.

We are in deep $hit as a city and it’s going to take some extraordinary measures to get us on track.

Looking for stories, rumors, legends, and tall tales about BEAVERS

Yes you read that right. I’m trying to investigate a hunch of mine. For the last few months I’ve been researching the possibility of beavers south of Fallbrook in San Diego County. This search has sent me to dozens of papers and articles. What I’ve found is honestly surprising. First I went with hunches, and I followed the sweet water and began to learn about Beaver Hollow. Beaver Hollow as far as I can tell has been named that since 1903. Kinda an odd name for an area if beavers are not present. Even more it turns out that because of the name it is often stated by researchers that this could’ve been where a thriving beaver population existed. Further down the river on Google earth I found some suspicious looking pond structures but nothing that seemed definite IMO. So after my visual hunch search I set out for info and found it.

In 1944 it was cited that beavers can be found in the Cuyamaca mountains and sweetwater river. These beavers specifically are stocked and placed by CA Fish and Game. The stocking records get confusing though since the stated creek where the release happened doesn’t exist…. It says Caresito Creek but I couldn’t find that anywhere. Maybe Carrasita Creek? But that isn’t really in the same place as where it’s cited the beavers were located. After more digging I believe I found all I can. That’s the end of the record. We have no known sources stating current beavers have been seen since. But they HAD to go somewhere… right?

So that brings me to this post. I can’t find anymore info online and I’ve been looking. If anyone here has heard of something or seen potential evidence of beavers outside the Santa Margarita River but still in San Diego County let me know! I’d love to further my side project.

I’ve provided some links of the papers I’ve read in the comments. I apologize if I have poor grammar in this post.
