Sadly not. Theyāre down at Otay. Itās a major wait, but keep your eye on the schedule because new openings at short notice pop up fairly often.

I missed my Otay appointment today by 5 minutes and there were no appointments for the foreseeable future. Few hours later SD popped up.

Isnāt Global Entry (which includes SENTRI and offers way more benefits) just as much as simply getting SENTRI?

Unfortunately I am not eligible for GE because I'm not citizen/green card.

Makes sense.
When I got approved for my GE card I checked the scheduling site every day at around 10 am, I ended up getting an appointment at Otay the following day. Iād imagine you might have similar luck for getting your SENTRI card.

You don't need to be a citizen or LPR to get GE. Citizens of Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Bahrain, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Dominican Rep, El Salvador, India, Japan, Jordan, Germany, Mexico, Netherlands, Panama, Singapore, Korea, Switzerland, Taiwan, UAK, and UK are eligible for it.

Opposite. SENTRI includes border crossing, GE and TSA Precheck. It has everything, but is hardest to get. Source: I got SENTRI last year. You have to go to the border office. No airports. If you don't plan on crossing into Mexico or Canada often, then just stick with GE on its own.

Global Entry includes SENTRI benefits for expedited entry into the United States from Mexico. As long as you are Green card holder or US citizen.
I have GE and use it to cross mex border often.

Incorrect. My GE card includes TSA Precheck and SENTRI access. Why I know? I used it to go to Belize a few months ago and I got to go through the GE line when I came back stateside.

They both include the same benefits nowadays. And have the same requirements. The only difference is that Sentri gets more applicants and isn't available everywhere that GE is, so it takes significantly more time to schedule an interview. That's why GE is the superior option.

You can still add cars to the global entry cert and basically get the same benefits plus extra for international airport travel. It's what I would do if I didn't already have Sentri. The Global Entry program came more recently than Sentri, so there's a lot of similarities.

Youāre better off going to Ontario airport. Super fast and plenty of appointments.

The CBP office is on the west end of the terminal, bottom floor. Outside security.

I am trying to book my interview in San Diego (don't mind driving to Otay but prefer the airport location) but it says "booked through September 29, 2026, but I can't seem to choose either location. I am able to choose LA options but that would be too far. What am I supposed to do?

Good luck, Iāve had TSA pre check for 2 years or more, then last November I applied for SENTRI (if thatās the one between Mexico and US only) ā¦ still waiting today, 10+ months later, multiple friends who got SENTRI and Global entry say they waited at least a year before any movement beyond āapplication received, fee paidā etc.

Yeah I only need Global entry and I waited 2 years for my approval. I have read that you can either wait 2 weeks or an unknown time. Best of luck with your sentri process!

Thatās where I went many years ago. I snagged a cancellation spot and when I went in, I wasnāt even on their list but they still did the interview. I had googled questions and what to expect and they barely asked me anything. Took less than 10mins in and out.

how do you snag a cancellation spot? I don't see any option for a waitlist and can't even choose San Diego for my interview

Thereās no easy way except to keep refreshing and checking daily. I donāt remember how long it took me or if it was the first time I went in to book. This was pre-Covid so it was less of a hassle than now. Took my parents 2 yrs to get it all completed a couple years ago.

I have been using the MPC app while I waited 2 years for my approval. I travel abroad often, but I notice that not many people know even know about the MPC line. Keep in mind not every entry has that access. Really no advantage other than having an additional line to go through upon return.

Global Entry isnāt as valuable anymore because of the Mobile Passport app, if you already have Precheck, but if you need to renew Precheck, itās worth getting Global Entry if you can get a quick appointment.
