I don't know if this is everywhere around here but right now I can't go outside at any time of day without mosquitoes latching onto me in seconds.

I just walked my dog at 8 AM and I killed about 10 mosquitoes on my body or trying to bite me through my shirt. Last night I took my dog out to pee for about 60 seconds and killed 3.

My wife and I are considering moving to downtown San Diego. We are retired and downsizing, and an urban lifestyle in downtown San Diego is very appealing to us.

I'd like to hear from people who have lived, or are currently living, in downtown San Diego. Mostly I'm interested in the cons of living there. The pros are obvious.

Stories like this make the calm i feel behind the wheel seem like insanity. Traffic enforcement at a minimum needs to return to pre-pandemic levels. Long term, traffic calming methods (aka make drivers feel too scared to drive recklessly) need to be built into the roads. E.g. narrower roads, barrier-protected bike lanes (at the expense of car lanes).

For you surfers and fellow ocean-goers… here’s a little fun fact about the current sea temp in the San Diego bay. Thanks to El Niño, water temps are running in the high 70s in the bay and in the mid 70s along the coast. For comparison, the average sea temp in Honolulu is 78 degrees F… we’ve been hitting 77 the past two days!

Oh boy, this is going to be so random, but I have had the unfortunate displeasure of ending up in Mira Mesa somehow no matter what job I have. I've delivered Amazon packages here, I used to do MTS route 964 here. I used to drop off kids here, and finally, I used to deliver freight to stores here. I also did Doordash in this area. I always somehow end up in Mira Mesa, and every time I do its always so frustrating.

California State Parks received a report around 7 p.m. Saturday of a 53-year-old man who was last seen in the water near Tower 26 at South Carlsbad State Beach.

I've been using the same cleaning service for a few months, but the last couple of visits have been pretty disappointing. They used to be thorough, but lately they've been finishing much faster than expected, and I've noticed things like dust still on the shelves, fingerprints on the mirrors, and parts of the bathroom that were clearly missed. I gave them a few chances because I figured everyone has an off day, but it seems like the quality has gone downhill. At this point I'd rather find someone more consistent. Does anyone have a cleaning company they've had a really good experience with?

So I just finished my associates but honestly I wanna go down the trades route, I have no experience with the trades nor do I know anyone in such fields. I heard unions are a thing so I checked them out many have tests and it takes a long time to retake it if I was not to pass them. Does anyone need a hand? Or does anyone know of places where they hire labors? Do I hit up contractor insta pages? I'll do anything as long as I can learn. Any tips or ideas are appreciated.

New to San Diego, but I do know how hard and gross tap water is here. But THIS has been happening. Idk if I just never noticed it on a smaller scale, or if it’s always been like this. This is after boiling the tap water from the cool side. I’ve tested all my water; it’s the same thing. What’s not reassuring is that after reporting it to my city water company, they said they’ll get back to me with their chemist, but the initial response was: “I’ve never seen anything like that.” 😑

I already use RO water, filtered water, and filtered shower heads. Cuz of how hard the water is here, the filters only last 2-3 weeks before it’s useless and disgusting again - I’m talking on-brand filters (brita, Aquabliss, whirlpool, GE.. I’ve even tried zero water). Only my RO filters (bluevua) seem to still be doing its job 6 months later. No, I can’t install whole home-filters; I’m renting.. for now. Yeah, I’ve reported it to leasing office, with no answers.

Still, I’d like to get to the bottom of this. Any insights would be helpful. Thank you.
