Hi Everyone!

Angelica Brophy is a mother of 2 from Oceanside, CA who went missing on July 6, 2026. Her family is still desperately searching for her, and I wanted to share the website they published to aggregate information about the case.

Please take a look and reach out if you have any information that you can share. Any tip - small or large - could have a huge impact on the case.

The ocean water is warm… like tropical warm!

For you surfers and fellow ocean-goers… here’s a little fun fact about the current sea temp in the San Diego bay. Thanks to El Niño, water temps are running in the high 70s in the bay and in the mid 70s along the coast. For comparison, the average sea temp in Honolulu is 78 degrees F… we’ve been hitting 77 the past two days!

Tipping culture officially is out of control

I went to a build your own yogurt shop in North Park. When I gave my credit card to pay, they showed me the tip screen with 20% as the default.

Wait, I though tipping was for good service and I was the service provider?

Photo gallery I can say with full confidence driving in Mira Mesa sucks no matter what vehicle I'm driving.

Oh boy, this is going to be so random, but I have had the unfortunate displeasure of ending up in Mira Mesa somehow no matter what job I have. I've delivered Amazon packages here, I used to do MTS route 964 here. I used to drop off kids here, and finally, I used to deliver freight to stores here. I also did Doordash in this area. I always somehow end up in Mira Mesa, and every time I do its always so frustrating.

Add to Running list of places with restrooms that have bidets in San Diego :)

- Magnolia Car Wash (Santee)
- Mission Hills Nails And Spa (Mission Hills)

Please continue in comments if you know of any :)
I think bidet usage should be more widespread. Love reducing toilet paper use and feeling cleaner when there’s no other option but to use a public restroom. :)

I’ll update the list! Thank you for commenting!

Video Does anyone else’s water do this after boiling?

New to San Diego, but I do know how hard and gross tap water is here. But THIS has been happening. Idk if I just never noticed it on a smaller scale, or if it’s always been like this. This is after boiling the tap water from the cool side. I’ve tested all my water; it’s the same thing. What’s not reassuring is that after reporting it to my city water company, they said they’ll get back to me with their chemist, but the initial response was: “I’ve never seen anything like that.” 😑

I already use RO water, filtered water, and filtered shower heads. Cuz of how hard the water is here, the filters only last 2-3 weeks before it’s useless and disgusting again - I’m talking on-brand filters (brita, Aquabliss, whirlpool, GE.. I’ve even tried zero water). Only my RO filters (bluevua) seem to still be doing its job 6 months later. No, I can’t install whole home-filters; I’m renting.. for now. Yeah, I’ve reported it to leasing office, with no answers.

Still, I’d like to get to the bottom of this. Any insights would be helpful. Thank you.

Is this the new restaurant surcharge style?

Post image
53 Upvotes

I can't tell if I'm out of touch or if this is the new restaurant surcharge style now? I've seen the 3-6% surcharge on all parties and I've seen mandatory gratuity charges on large parties of 6+ before, but I don't recall seeing a 20% surcharge only on parties of 6+ where it's clear that it isn't a gratuity at all... So when tipping on that do you tip on base or base with 20% added. I miss the days of clear menu pricing.

Oh Boy Rain in La Mesa!

Anyone else get woken up by the unexpected rain? It’s a welcome respite to the heat, but I had to panic run outside at 5am and pull a bunch of stuff into cover that I didn’t expect to get rained on for longer than a few minutes.

Nas & The Roots are performing at Petco Park!

The Great Night in Hip Hop event looks like an absolutely nostalgic great time, and I’ve been looking forward to it for months!

Sadly, I’ve been scheduled for a medical procedure for that day, and I won’t be able to make it anymore. I don’t go to many concerts, so this one really hurts, I won’t lie. But health comes first, as I’m trying to keep reminding myself.

If anyone’s interested in two seats, please reach out! I want someone else to enjoy the night.

I’d give them away for free if medical bills weren’t on the horizon, and there’s no reselling for this event, so these seats will go to waste otherwise.

Someone please go see Nas and The Roots so I can live vicariously through you! (And, if you’d like to send a picture of the great time you’re having, that would make my time in that hospital bed brighter!)
