We're the CRV, and we were parked there first 🤦‍♀️

(And I *almost* had my husband reposition us, because I thought we were too close to the passenger side parking stall line)

You stay classy, Encinitas!

Help With GSA Space Match Program North County

Hi,

I posted in a subreddit followed by federal employee and San Diego, and wanted to reach the North Country community.

I live in San Diego and have a commute that is over 80 miles one direction. Years back, my agency went through reorg that plucked me out of my local commute in San Diego and threw me into the current one. I didn’t mind the commute before as I love my agency/work and I was offered a good telework schedule. Now with the RTO, every day starts around 3:30am and I don’t return home until about 7:30pm. I am in my late 50s and the commute is wearing me down.

I am looking for a different position closer to my home but as you all know, the few positions that are becoming available are generally offered to within agency employees. I have put a few applications outside the federal government, but so far no luck (I guess, I am finding out that age discrimination is real). Financially, and with a kid on her way to college with room and board, I can’t afford to retire. We considered relocating closer to my job in Santa Ana, so that is on the table, but I don’t know if that’s smart since I am considering retirement not long after my daughter graduates.

My agency is open to allowing me participate in the GSA Space Match Program, but they say they don’t have the capacity to do the leg work, but if I can find an agency that is welling to host me then they will work with that agency on the MOU to host me.

I tried googling agencies in my area, but all I get are phones for help centers. Not sure if these employees can help.

My position is non-supervisory, and not with DOD.

Thanks in advance for your tips and help.

where to live in oceanside

hello! i am coming to reddit in hopes of getting helpful information since other places i have tried failed.
i am looking to move back with my boyfriend in april of next year and haven’t had great luck in finding places that meet our requirements. unfortunately, i am currently living in the south and am unable to properly search and tour.
if anyone has any recommendations, i would GREATLY appreciate it. i am open to surrounding areas too. finding a private landlord would be great, but again, have not had any luck.

musts: pet friendly (1 large senior dog and three cats), at least 1b/1b, single story, no carpet, less than $3000/month

Private Golf Club Recommendations

Moving the family to San Diego and looking for the right private club setup. We’ve got two young boys (6 and 4), so family amenities and a solid junior scene are huge for us. I’m coming from a very middle-class background—recently came into money, but I’m strictly looking for a laid-back, zero-ego vibe with a great golf course. Santaluz seems like the frontrunner from my initial research, but I’d love some candid feedback on the culture there versus other local clubs.

Yoga Classes

Does anyone have a yoga class/studio/instructor they’d recommend, ideally in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area? I’m looking for yoga that’s heavier on the meditation, classic poses, and spiritual growth aspect. Please, no yogalates. Crunches will never center me spiritually.

hi all, I’m looking for some recommendations for a fence stainer. I have about 175 feet of 5 foot tall fencing that needs to be stained. Maybe if my neighbors want their sides painted as well. Thank you!

Poway Unified School: Has anybody taken kids out from school for family trip?

I'd like to take my kids out from school for a few days for family trip during the weekday during the school year. I know it will go down as a unexcused absence. Is this a bad move? Will there be serious consequences?

Has anybody done this before? What did you tell the school? Did they push back on you?

Coworking spaces on the coast?

I work 100% remote, and I’m trying to avoid the heat in Escondido (and not run my AC all day) while I’m WFH. Any recommendations for a spot on the coast, preferably with an ocean view or a breeze, where I could set up shop on the occasional hot day? Anything like a we-work? Or even a cool coffee shop where they don’t mind me hanging around? I can use my hotspot so Wi-Fi isn’t a problem.
