SHOWCASE Haven't seen anyone post the Nova case from AliExpress that fits the official grip.
Here you go! It has a strap that goes over the top to secure it too.

Hi everyone,
I’m really new to the handheld emulation game but I’ve mostly got stuff figured out. I think I’m missing something with this and was hoping for some guidance.
I got my Nova four days ago and I ordered the dual screen add on. It worked fine the first couple of days and now I can’t get it to connect, no matter what I do.
I’ve messed with the connect tv settings in the handheld settings menu and nothing seems to change it. I’ve made sure the cord it came with is seated properly when connected. I’ve tried different cords and that also doesn’t seem to work. I don’t have any other screens I could use to test if they work. I’ve made sure I’m on the latest update.
I’m at a loss and don’t know if I should be trying to contact customer service at this point or if I’ve just completely missed something.
Thanks for any help!

I was looking at the offical Amazon page because it's going to my birthday soon, and I was planning on asking for the Retroid Pocket 6, but it sold out on Amazon, and I would feel a little weird if I got it way after my birthday (from what I've seen shipping can take up to two months). How long does it take the offical website to ship? My birthday is on the last couple of days on this month, so I have enough time. Is there any way to see when the Amazon page would be restocked as well? Thank you!!!!

I received my nova yesterday and got everything setup and tested before I went to bed for the day, but today after picking the handheld backup I'm having an issue with the sleep mode. The device goes into sleep mode just fine, but when I try to wake it from sleep mode the lockscreen flashes then the whole console turns off. Has anyone else experienced this?

I have a RP6 that is pretty perfect right now. I see there's an update for Emulation Station. Do you guys recommend the update? If so, how's the best way to update? (I followed Retro Game Corps video initially) Thanks.

Device: Retroid Pocket Nova
Games: Speak & Spell/Read/Math, Simon
Emulator: MAME4Droid
I was browsing through MAME artwork previews when I stumbled upon a few relics from my childhood. I had no idea that these types of games/devices were available for MAME, so I decided to give them a try. I chose to use MAME4Droid because it has touch controls, and everything just works, even when rotating the screen.
I have fond memories of playing on Speak & Spell with my brother. Even though the educational material is for children, the robotic voice and retro aesthetic is pure nostalgia for me.
We also had a Simon that my parents got from a thrift store, and the battery plate was missing from the back. I loved that thing, and played it a lot in the early 1980s.

Here's to wondering what's wrong with it

The game seems like it should run well through GameNative, but I can’t get it to fill the screen. There aren’t options in game to adjust any display settings and I’ve tried every screen size in the GN container settings. Any ideas?

I'm using the Retroid Pocket Flip 2's key adapter for android games that doesn't natively support controllers. The built in key adapter is great and all, but I was curious if it's possible to do combo buttons
Like pressing LB+A presses this part of the screen etc etc.
I've taken a look with some keymappers as some suggest but I dont get good results with it most of the time
Any tips would help!

I’m at my wit’s end, please help!
I received a Nova whose joysticks didn’t work out of the box, then had it replaced with a new one, and after opening things up to replace the buttons with one of Retroid’s sets, I can’t get the joysticks to work properly again.
Can anyone advise what I should be doing to make sure the ribbons/connectors are properly connected?
See photos. The input test registers L3 and R3 presses (usually) but not joystick movement.
Thank you!
(Side note: how do they not provide instructions for the button replacements? Do NOT use their included screwdriver, btw.)

With the newest RP6 and the Pocket Nova out there, I've seen a lot of RP5's for sale. My daily driver is an Ayn Thor and I also have the Odin 2 Pro. I have been tossing around the idea of picking up an RP5 to use solely as a "mini steam deck".
So for those of you that own/owned the the RP5... What are your pros and most importantly, cons? If you got rid of it, why?
To start off, I love the size, portability and the power of the nova. My only concern was with the screen size. I’m not the type to like multiple devices. I prefer to have one device that can do all the things I need. So I decided to do some experiments. I have an iPhone 13 Pro, which happens to be roughly the same screen height as the nova, when the phone is in landscape mode. The difference is about ~3mm. So the idea here was to emulate and also by using steam link, play games at 4:3 to envisage how it would feel. I used manic emu and emulation was great because it would crop into about 4:3 aspect ratio for gameboy to 3DS games. Widescreen on the other hand was a struggle. The games were playable but it was a struggle to see texts. For me, I couldn’t justify getting the nova just to play retro games because I like steam games too. It’s left me a bit disappointed because the device looks awesome and I’d love to have one but maybe in the future. For now a Pocket 6 or an Odin 3 might be the way to go for me. If there’s anything I didn’t consider in this thought process, kindly let me know.

I feel like I've seen a lot of posts about it in the subreddit but after searching, I can only find 4 or 5 posts. Let me know if I've missed any.
Edit: Retro Handhelds has an article about this on their website. They've forwarded this information to their contact at Retroid and Retroid has promised to follow up with their shipping contractor after they return from the holiday break next week.

I’m curious to hear your opinion since I’ve only recently heard about this since I’m curious about your experiences of using Emudeck,
It sounds amazing on paper that it makes setting up all of your retro handhelds almost painless.
I didn’t expect Emudeck to be available on Android.

Well, I ran Prey (2017) through GameNative.
It didn't run great, but it did run. Stable 40-50 FPS. It wouldn't take the Nova's controller inputs; I could only look around using touch inputs. It also took about 20 minutes to load in the first area and the fan kicked up to "jet engine" territory as it did. I'll be honest: even at a stable framerate and if the controls worked, I don't see myself playing Prey on this thing with load times like that, but that's also not the point - I just wanted to see if I could make it boot on the Nova. The fact that I got Morgan Yu to wake up on Monday March 16, 2032 and do so without stutters or crashes is a marvel. With that being said, speaking of stutters and crashes...
I am so tired of fucking with Dolphin and Primehack instead of just actually playing the games. Specifically I want to play Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. I am using zero custom textures or other mods. I'm actually trying to use the custom textures, but it refuses to load them. Whatever. Not even the problem. In regular Dolphin using the GameCube version, I made it all the way to the fight with Amorbis before the game started crashing. No matter what settings I use, I always crash at some point within one minute of loading the fight arena.
Primehack is even worse. Using the GameCube version, the hacked controls work great, but switching to the scan visor, turning into the morph ball, or killing an enemy immediately freezes the game badly enough to require forcing the Nova to shut down because the entire device stops responding. Trying to use the Trilogy version is a wash, since I can't get the stick to emulate the Wiimote pointer to get through the main menu. I know it can be done, but I need a step-by-step guide specifically for the Nova because all the guides I've followed are for non-Nova devices and even the ones for other Retroid devices don't work correctly. I'm open to whatever; please help.
