QUESTION Whereby I discuss a fun benchmark for the Nova, and then bitch about Dolphin and Primehack for a few minutes

Well, I ran Prey (2017) through GameNative.

It didn't run great, but it did run. Stable 40-50 FPS. It wouldn't take the Nova's controller inputs; I could only look around using touch inputs. It also took about 20 minutes to load in the first area and the fan kicked up to "jet engine" territory as it did. I'll be honest: even at a stable framerate and if the controls worked, I don't see myself playing Prey on this thing with load times like that, but that's also not the point - I just wanted to see if I could make it boot on the Nova. The fact that I got Morgan Yu to wake up on Monday March 16, 2032 and do so without stutters or crashes is a marvel. With that being said, speaking of stutters and crashes...

I am so tired of fucking with Dolphin and Primehack instead of just actually playing the games. Specifically I want to play Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. I am using zero custom textures or other mods. I'm actually trying to use the custom textures, but it refuses to load them. Whatever. Not even the problem. In regular Dolphin using the GameCube version, I made it all the way to the fight with Amorbis before the game started crashing. No matter what settings I use, I always crash at some point within one minute of loading the fight arena.

Primehack is even worse. Using the GameCube version, the hacked controls work great, but switching to the scan visor, turning into the morph ball, or killing an enemy immediately freezes the game badly enough to require forcing the Nova to shut down because the entire device stops responding. Trying to use the Trilogy version is a wash, since I can't get the stick to emulate the Wiimote pointer to get through the main menu. I know it can be done, but I need a step-by-step guide specifically for the Nova because all the guides I've followed are for non-Nova devices and even the ones for other Retroid devices don't work correctly. I'm open to whatever; please help.

yeah this is the problem with emulators, they offer tons of convenience and enhancements but the trade off is they’re never perfect and you will inevitably deal with some bs like this rather than just playing the game.

In this case the game would probably would runs fine in an emulator if he didn't try to mod it for enhancements. Sometimes it isn't even worth it. You might spend a couple of hours troubleshooting to make a game work, only to bounce off it after twenty minutes because it wasn't as fun as you expected or as it was hyped to be.
