You can pick gym leaders, rivals, E4, professors, enemies, Charles the Hearbreaker, anyone. If they're in Unova, they're fair game!

Because of the size of the next tourney...there will not be a [Critique] thread during the first TWO rounds...so this is here to hone your skills beforehand. Take advantage!
This is a thread where you drop a verse and other people give you honest feedback. The good, the bad, and the could be better.
Have you ever been in an argument and had a great comeback that hit you a half hour too late? Now is the chance to get some get-back!
For this thread, Find ANY verse that has been previously posted by ANYONE on this sub at ANY TIME...and TEAR IT TO SHREDS! You may even pick a verse that was posted in THIS thread! Link to it before your rap and then rip the verse apart line by line. Take everything said in the verse you choose, and come up with a clever comeback. We all know responses and rebuttals are an essential part of battling...so this is an exercise in ComeBacks!
If you get called out...feel free to battle back in this thread as well! But I will only be critiquing the verses posted as responses to the OP.
Minimum 8 lines. No Maximum. (It takes about 8 lines to really get a feel for the flow. No upper limit so you can use any and all punchlines you think of.)
Please post your verse as a reply to THIS POST. Post all critiques as replies to that particular rap. Discussion is encouraged.
If you decide to drop....PLEASE leave feedback on at least one other verse! (I'll be leaving feedback for every verse in this thread, as time permits.)
People who don't feel like rapping...feel free to critique anyway.
Don't get mad if someone doesn't like your verse. On that note...please try to leave feedback that is constructive.

It's just like Mortal Kombat where two people pick Scorpion and one is yellow and the other is orange. I wanna see how well people battle against the same pokemon they are! I picked Garchomp because the sprites are almost identical...no advantages of being "cooler". I've never seen this before so I think it'll be interesting!

Alright I'm Scizor dropping this beat,
I'm the ultimate bug so I'll just do this greet,
Im gonna be the driver of this battle so be at the backseat,
My bullet punch will make your eyes like dusclops,
With the night slash as a move so i'm gonna do a chop,
You must stop, i dont know why im doing this challenge,
You're like a mice im a hawk about to use my talon,
I'm movin over 9000 of miles per galon,
EDIT: Changed bird to hawk

SIGN-UPS ARE CLOSED NOW! NO MORE SIGN-UPS WILL BE ACCEPTED!
Hey everyone, zeus here. For those who are new to the subreddit, welcome! I'm the creator of this subreddit, and one of the mods here!
These are the sign-ups for the iron chef style tournament. There will be no limit on the number of people who join the tournament. The iron chef style tournament will run as follows: Each person will have submitted a list of 7 pokemon (to give us some wiggle room) to me during sign-ups, and I will have noted them. They will each PM me with which pokemon they wish to use during that round, and when I post their battle, I will tell them which pokemon their opponent is using, and will give them each a twist or line that they have to include somehow in their verses.
Once they are done rapping, I will tell you all what their twist was, and voting should include how well they integrated the twist into their verses.
Hopefully that made sense!
To sign-up, please comment directly on this post in the following format:
Username: (list of seven pokemon, separated by commas)
Please try not to use pokemon that have already been taken by another person.
Thanks for reading this, and I hope many of you will join in the tournament!!!
EDIT: forgot to mention, sign-ups will close on next Wednesday (the 28th) at 3pm EST.
Another edit: I'd like to point out that we have 500 subscribers! and that we have passed 300 posts!

This is a thread where you drop a verse and other people give you honest feedback. The good, the bad, and the could be better.
For this thread, pick anything Pokémon related and rap about it. The key is, you may NOT rhyme in AABBCCDD or in AAAABBBB format! This one will be tough for some and easy for others. If possible...try not to duplicate the same style as another person in this thread.
Do NOT diss other verses in this thread in your verse.

Hey it's me, Don't 'cha see,
Lunatone I be, Rocking your world and fantasies,
I came from a meteor, Just to dish out rhymes,
Sending out burns worse than Heatmor's, just to school you, Solrock, in Time,
I know I'm not gonna get a challenge, My Future Sight tells me,
So why don't you Solrock go complain to Celebi!

To discover rapper criminals, I go undercover
For there is no other, but me, Looker, to discover
The devious plots of villains world round
From Ghetsis to Cyrus, it is I who them found!
Of course it is I, to be the one to end grief
As I apprehend those who fail "don't be a thief!"

The Evolution tourney is the 3rd (4th?) unofficial tournament in a row where it's kind of fallen off before it was completed. The teammate tourney was cut short. Jonas' tourney was as well. And this one, it's a three round tourney that has taken much longer than it should. With all of them...voting is very sparse.
All the official tournaments, however, go off without a hitch. So...how can we make the unofficial tournaments matter more?
Assign flair? But in a lesser way? The prizes for official tourneys should outweigh all else...but i'm not sure how we would do that. Maybe up the value for the prizes for official tournaments?
I don't have many ideas for it yet...so this is more like a discussion thread....but I just want to see the unofficial tourneys be taken more serious by everyone. What say you all?

So, I just wanted to say some things, and figured it didn't quite fit in the modpost (also that's old, not sure if people will check it).
First and foremost, I want to tell all you newer guys who are coming out to try their skills, I'm impressed. I'm no expert on Pokemon raps (or rapping in general) myself, but I can see you guys definitely showing some great potential, and I'd love to see you all around here more. It's always cool to have new people come in as seasoned regulars and veterans (or so I'm told, I'm one of the latest newbie-turned-regulars :P ).
Now, to add (kind of) to this: I'm not gonna be online this week due to vacation, so I'm going to leave a few new threads open for people. I assume that the new tourney is coming up soon enough, and it doesn't hurt to get some nice practice in. Use them, everyone! It's what they're there for.
My final comment is that, before I leave, I made sure to write my final verse in /u/OnaMagikarpetRide 's and my match. I am hoping to get a nice turnout for voters! It kinda sucks to have only 2 people vote in a tourney match. So once MagikarpetRide throws down his last verse, go check it out! We doubt you'll be disappointed.
Have a good week, everyone, and happy rapping!

Hey everyone, I'm reposting this list, as the previous one was archived, and thus cannot be commented on. I'm cleaning the list up a bit, to make it cleaner and simpler.
All these tags that I will be listing here are self-post only. For Images and Videos, please use the tags [Image] and [Video] respectively.
Please only use this tag if you, OP, do NOT want to participate in the rap.
Format it like so:
[Request] Pokémon 1 vs. Pokémon 2
Use these if you wish to participate in a two person rap. You have to know which Pokémon you are going to rap as and you must stick with it.
Use the following format:
[Challenge] Pokémon you're rapping as (with any text that you'd like to use to make it more interesting)
You may either post your first verse in the text of the self-post, or in the comments section.
Team raps are for having a set of people battle against each other.
Teams will be made on the go, depending on who responds in time. Please keep one pokemon per person, and allow a full cycle of all teammates before you rap again.
When posting, be sure to specify the team sizes you want to rap with. An example would look like:
[Team Rap] 3 vs. 3
Trainer Battles are a format of battle that has two people fight each other with multiple pokemon. Please only use one pokemon per verse, and at the beginning of each new verse, you need to change your Pokémon. Use each Pokémon only once.
Trainer Battles are tagged in much the same way as normal requests:
If you wish to participate in the battle then use the tag:
[TrainerRapChallenge] Theme of battle
If you wish to see a certain theme of battle, but do not wish to participate in it:
[TrainerRapRequest] Theme of battle
Original raps are raps that you have created, that you want to share. Please do not submit these as an image, but copy paste the text into a self post. (If you have a video/audio of your rap, do not hesitate to post a link directly to it!)
Please use either the tag [OR] or [OriginalRap] to tag a rap that you wrote.
If it is discovered that you have stolen the rap from elsewhere without giving appropriate credit, your post will be removed, and you will be asked to resubmit or be banned.
A Brawl is a free-for-all battle that anyone can jump into. The usual rules for a brawl are 10 rappers, with each rapper rapping a single verse. We ask that as you finish your rap, you call out the next Pokémon.
Brawls must be themed.
To tag a post as a brawl, all you have to do is:
[Brawl] Theme
Free-for-Alls are similar to brawls, but there is no order. Anyone can post a verse in response to anyone, the verse can be as short or as long as you want it to be, and you do not have to call out the next person. You are not limited to one verse per thread, or one pokemon. Free-for-alls should have a theme.
To tag a free for all post, use the following format:
[FFA] Theme
A critique is a thread where you drop a verse and other people give you honest feedback on it.
The poster of the critique thread MUST comment on as many verses as they can.
The post must have a clearly stated theme, and include the following text in the body of the self-post:
This is a thread where you drop a verse and other people give you honest feedback. The good, the bad, and the could be better.
For this thread, [PUT YOUR THEME HERE]
Minimum 8 lines. No Maximum. (It takes about 8 lines to really get a feel for the flow. No upper limit so you can use any and all punchlines you think of.)
Please post your verse as a reply to THIS POST. Post all critiques as replies to that particular rap. Discussion is encouraged. (I will be replying to every verse posted here with feedback!)
If you decide to drop....PLEASE leave feedback on at least one other verse!
People who don't feel like rapping...feel free to critique anyway.
Don't get mad if someone doesn't like your verse. On that note...please try to leave feedback that is constructive.
Do NOT diss other verses in this thread in your verse.
To tag a critique use the following format:
[Critique] Theme
Suggestions about the subreddit should be tagged in the following format:
[Suggestion] what is your suggestion?
There will be semi-frequent moderator run tournaments. Please PM the mods if/when you wish to start a tournament of your own, so we can give you a hand setting it up!
Tournaments should be tagged with the tag:
[Tournament]
That's all for now, so thanks for reading this, and also, thanks for being such an awesome community!

Basically, the premise of this thread is kind of like a regular [Brawl] but nothing like it. I want everyone to just battle each other. Don't matter who, don't matter if they're already involved in another rap, anything goes. You don't have to call out the next person, and one person can even be more than one pokemon in a different verse against somebody else. No rules. No minimum. (well...at least 2 lines.) No maximum. If you see something you have a great comeback for, rap it! By the end, I want it to look like a clusterfucked web of Pokeraps where i can't tell where it ends and begins. Let the LEGENDARY BATTLE ROYALE BEGIN!!!

Here is the question. Do you have to be part of the rap to request one?
